Reason why there’s no bullet drop is according to the devs since the weapons are mostly iron sights, having no bullet drop means the player can always see their target in their sight, only having to lead them instead of aiming above. Really good design for the gameplay in my opinion.
@ruolbu4 жыл бұрын
That will make for a better experience, yes. But also... Would there be significant bullet drop. I feel like the encounters he showed was less then 200m, how much bullet drop do you get from a rifle of that era? I would not be surprised if it was less than you'd really notice.

@@ruolbu You're exactly right. First of all bullets in the game wink out of existence after 300m. 99.99% of ALL battles within the game happen between 200m and 2m. Its not really a gem to be honest. Its the classic way-too-neckbeard-game without functional matchmaking for fair matches, making it that the best experience would be to play with friends in private matches, which the game doesnt have thanks to cryteks lazyness. Same with titanfall 2. both are great games in general, but i would stop attaching something like „gem“ on such games. Its a niche game, thats it. About the importance of sound - worth to mention that it only works in headphones. All those people playing with speakers - they won't hear anything below a certain sound level, and then probably complain how they couldn't hear when someone sneaked up on them. With music I commonly notice that you simply don't hear a ton of sounds when listening through speakers.

@@GoldenCoastGTA the problem is the distance from speakers to you, and this doesn't really change depending on environment/quality of speakers - if you set up volume high enough to hear all the quiet sounds, the max level sounds like explosions/gunshots would be extremely loud, but if you calibrate the sound based on max level then things like footsteps/leaves rustling would be almost completely inaudible, or just much quieter than they should be. Sound volume equalisation might solve this, I never tried it since I use headphones mostly, but I do know it fucks up music really badly.

Hunt Showdown gets reviewed more after release than before. It's truly a hidden gem. The player count is at the same levels as release, which is pretty rare for a hardcore niche game. It just proves how remarkable what crytek has achieved. It is the best game Crytek has made, one of the best MP shooters ever made too. The Sound is full Binaurally recorded which has a lot to do with how spacious and natural the sound is. If you own a nice set of cans you deserve it to yourself to play Hunt. There is so much depth to the gameplay, even after hundreds of hours you will still learn new things and improve. Community is great too, people like to teach other players (of course there are always the toxic players). Some people complain about the performance but I think its not warranted when you consider what they have managed with the games visuals and server performance. You can't turn the graphics to any setting to get a benefit, the devs decided to force things like global illumination for all. Every setting that has a gameplay impact is totally neutral in that regard. I live in Louisiana, actually a couple miles from an actual bayou. I have to say they really did a great job of the forest and swampy areas do look like places i have actually been. Well, except for the pine trees... there are no pines in hunt which is wierd. if you are starting new, take your time to learn how to deal with the AI, use mallets or axes on the bosses, avoid the winnie silencer ( you have to go for headshots for it to be effective) and the specter bayonet, respect MELEE!. Don't be toxic when you down someone, give them a GG or do some roleplay during a fight, its great fun.

Honestly, I didn't think it was much different from games like DayZ but it certainly has some really cool unique stuff in it. The monsters, setting, audio, that stuff is truly great work. But the game is a niche game that will never gain much popularity. In DayZ though, seeing an enemy player after spending dozens of hours scouring for gear, you feel your heart jump. This game just, I thought it was just frustrating with zero respect for the player's time unless he could kill a boss. And good fucking luck killing a boss as a low rank, low level solo player. Yeah, you can kill the boss but as soon as you walk outside there'll be 5 or 6 players hiding in the bush to totally undo all that effort and time you just put in killing the thing. I honestly found DayZ with it's horrible glitches to be less frustrating and annoying. I don't want to bash on Hunt because there's much about it I adore but every time I think about how miserable my experience was with that game, I start getting angry. The best advice I got for this game was to learn enemy player spawn points. There's always a gap between, so immediately check the map and look at the roads that exit the map. On either side, the first road will be safe, the next WILL have a player at it. People naturally follow roads at first, so you can easily move towards areas that are going to be met from their road you can safely assume you'll find a player / players there.
@necro44534 жыл бұрын
Thats not even possible. There are way more roads that leave the map than teams in a game. 6 Teams + 1 road between every team = 11-12 roads. There are way more than that. So no, the next road after the "safe road" doesnt have to have a team on it.
@combatwombat21344 жыл бұрын
@@necro4453 it's been that way every single game I've played. There is always a space, even in corners. It doesn't look like you read my comment properly. A safe road on either side of you, then an enemy road, then a safe, then an enemy road. There may be exceptions, but I have never been ambushed at the first site following this because there's always someone on the next road up and they're almost certainly making a beeline for the same place.

@@combatwombat2134 But it is literally not possible. The Lawson Delta Map has 20 of these roads. 12 are max with your theory. So there has to be holes. @@necro4453 I don't know then, man. I heard this from some long term players even before I started playing. I'm now ~1,200 games in and I started doing this around game 30. It's been a consistently reliable method to drop enemy players early. Consistent to the point that I always make a conscious note of it and it plays out pretty much exactly as I expect, such as where people will initially go and which places will be looked into first. As above, I have no idea if its a pattern through every road, maybe it's player, space, player, space, player, space and then another such method on the other side, or even player space player. But it has always been a reliable crutch of information early on.

Hunt is probably my favorite multiplayer game in 3 decades of gaming. It can be brutal, it can be frustrating, but nothing else has peaks as exhilarating as Hunt Showdown when you’re having a great match. I put 300 hours in just playing solo against duos before I ever actually played on a team. I got killed A LOT. But.. BUT there were also matches where I was literally shaking by the end of them. Pure adrenaline, unbelievable wins and close calls. I can’t really enjoy any other MP shooters now because they just aren’t dynamic like Hunt is. Not for everyone, but I think everyone should try it. You might be missing one of the best experiences you can have gaming in my humble opinion

I want a coop version of it that has no PvP. Which apparently is what it originally was before they chased the royale formula. Their recent PvE "mode" for challenges is a pretty half hearted effort to veer people back into the PvP.
@Antaiseito4 жыл бұрын
The trials are great to try out and practice stuff. If you're not into PvP they won't make the game for you, tho.

@specter18934 жыл бұрын
I originally had the same thought until I actually bought it and tried it for myself. This game would not work without PvP. The gameplay would become very stale, very quickly. After the first couple of encounters the bosses are very easy to deal with and their clench factor is minimal. The "royale formula" is what makes every other game mechanic feel fantastic. It doesn't feel tacked on like a Dark Souls invasion

As someone who's lived in the south my whole life, you'll not believe the amount of random cabins still exist deep in the woods that have been long forgotten. I love The Hunt's aesthetic. Makes me pine for the ability to see those old building's in their hay day. Also regarding that comment about Louisiana roads, when we had my great uncle's funeral in Louisiana, some family friends that make gourmet Cajun food made some impromptu gumbo out of crawdads that came from said ditches that exist everywhere due to flooding counter measures.

I was curious to see whether they had anachronistic weapons like Kar98k's and Lugers, but I couldn't find any info online. In fact, there aren't any WW1 German weapons in the game as far as I can see. You got 19th Century Lebels and Mosin-Nagants, but those are French and Russian weaponry... Someone correct me if those weapons are indeed in the game.
@robrobusa4 жыл бұрын
The only German guns as far as I am aware are a) the Mauser C96 (Called the Dolch 96) and the Bornheim No.3 (Bergmann 1896), but George probably mistook the Mosin-Nagant Rifle for the K98, as they are rather similar, being well-known WWII 5-round bolt-action rifles.
@wotwott23194 жыл бұрын
There's a Mauser C96 and a Bergmann 1896 in the game, they were just renamed as Dolch C96 and Bornheim No. 3. The Bergmann is more of a mid level weapon while the C96 is a late game gun. Although not German, there's also the Mosin Avtomat, a full-auto conversion of the Mosin based on the Huot Automatic Rifle.

@@robrobusa @HarithAzmi Thanks, both of you, I haven't played the game (My PC isn't buff enough :( ) But have watched a lot of gameplay clips, this is why I don't have first hand knowledge. I think the game was set in 1895, right? So I guess the Mauser is technically anachronistic.

Really the only guns that don't make sense for the setting is the avtomat and a cartridge conversion lemat revolver that doesn't exist in real life. I guess the suppressors too
@Flash2214 жыл бұрын
@@ScarletSnake It's technically not perfectly historically accurate that there is a C96, but it's hardly immersion breaking. After all, it's only a 1 year difference and the game doesn't depict a large scale conflict, it's just a bunch of cowboys in a swamp, so I think it's fine.

I've been playing for a long while now, and its absolutely one of my all time favorites. Honestly the only thing I feel is missing is a mechanic allowing you to track other players by more than sound- footprints, recently used items, shell casings, something almost akin to Bloodhound's kit in Apex: Legends. Maybe you could see dropped magazines, bloodstains, etc with Darksight or something.
@kekkadakeda94684 жыл бұрын
the game already does have some of those things, you can see when Hunters grabbed ammo boxes, tools, smashed open doors / windows, used flares, throwing knives, crossbow bolts, killed dog kennels/doctor grunts/meatheads, cleared a compound in general etc.

If you have friends to play with, fun as fuck, if you are solo, not so much, why you are forced to face groups as a solo player is beyond me. The ability to be revived puts you at too much of a disadvantage as not only are you facing groups you are facing groups who can revive each other leaving you one life and them multiple.

@@Zeonoir My issue isn't even necessarily the time requirement, it's more that I just want to kind of relax and play a game and this doesn't really allow for that. @@JZStudiosonline you've got the wrong picture about Hunt then. You are not forced to play against other hunters, there is definetly ways to avoid them and do your own thing and when it comes to "relax and play a game" well Hunt will always be thrilling because of what is at stake but at the same time the matches are up to 60 minutes which means you can grab 2 of your buddies and roll over the entire map + kill everything that comes in your way in 20 minutes OR you can join solo, be super sneaky, set up traps, wait for people to walk into them and die or if your traps fail just stay hidden and try another time
