Bought the Braun when they first came out, maybe four years ago? Still going strong. I use an old 4 inch outlet box cover (thin galvanized steel) plate stuck to the bottom. Makes a great small desk lamp, and when you bend the wand part over and hold something under it, it's perfect to examine things! The replaceable 18650 is the cherry on top!!! Best tool I've gotten from HF, would buy again in a heartbeat. May look at the new ICON model first though!

I have the harbor freight one, and after 2 years of hard use, left in the grass a week in 30 degree weather, ran over 5 times with a truck, it finally broke where it swivels ......so I duck taped it and continued to use it.

I have been using the husky lights for 2 years now. The battery is a 18650, but is soldered in. If you can solder it is not a big deal to replace. It's not super bright, but it is a task light it doesn't need to be. The swivel bendy part is great as well as the magnet. Charge it from a wall outlet and it takes 30 mins. The small end light is great for looking inside/under things( disposals, washers and dryers). It's 20 bucks, I have since bought 5 more.

So i also have the husky and was trying to get it apart. I got the bottom unscrewed but the battery will not pull out. I can solder and was wondering how you got the battery out.

The spot is definitely nice when the other light is flooding the foreground of what you're looking at. I did a lot of work in tight spaces on cars be in in the engine bay or under the dash, and being able to stick the spot light in behind the stuff I was staring at to almost backlight the area was great.

the HF one is indestructable & has a standard 18650 cell in it, that's easy to replace or upgrade. ours travelled 3000miles on the underside of our 4runner... over winter (Kansas/Texas). we still have the original battery in it. I use it multiple times a week, every week.

Use it everyday. On my 3rd husky in a year. The wires in the double hinge keep breaking. Switching back to the harbor freight model. Never had a problem, just left it at a customer's house.

Not being able to change out the battery is a no go for me on the Husky. I'm buying the Braun on this Monday (spring black Friday) because of the ability to change the battery over time.

I really like my Harbor Freight for working on my car. I replaced the 18650 with a higher end battery. The red and green lights both look the same to me because I'm color blind. Charging devices has always been a crapshoot for me. Half the time I have no idea what might be happening. No change after 40 years.

Good review. I think the top light may be for lighting in a hole. You could stick it down a piston cylinder on in a hole in a wall. Aesthetically I prefer warm lighting, but if I’m doing color sensitive work then both too cool and too warm can be bad. I think the extra adjustment and lower price of the Husky gives it the win for me. I probably can’t justify getting yet another LED light right now, but eventually I probably get one.

I didn't think of looking down a hole with the light, that makes sense.

I've used it to see deep inside an engine bay, to pin point a certain area.

I have no problem with storage of the hf light. I stick it on the lid of my mechanics cart. It's best use is in automotive work. I have no issue with the angle in any situation I've had it in. The tip light is also a great automotive use feature. It also seems like you didn't know the head rotates as well. So the switch can be in any direction. If you bought it to light your path when walking, you got the wrong flashlight buddy.

Funny review! Personally I prefer bright white light for work, warm white is better for camping and recreational use. But I'll take the cheaper option any day!

Review the new braun light. Still doesn't fold like the husky but you can change attachments and has a nifty hanger. $44 w/ coupon

The "worthless little light" is just a night light setting which uses very little battery. Perfect for camping when making a certain area like a restroom tent.

Double joint is better, but I prefer headlamps:) I hate when you just can't turn the torch off, you must go through all the stupid bilking modes... so I replaced a controller chip in my headlamp with an Attiny85, and wrote a custom firmware for it using an arduino environment. Now I can press the button once to get the full brightness, press again to turn it off, or hold to select the brightness:)

Both is reasonably a good light but do you know who is the world first slim worklight? It is SKINNYLIGHT originated from Japan since 2010. Check it out. Support originality.

I got the Braun a year ago because of your review. It's great; with the only downsides being store availability and price. Husky indeed ripped off the design (I dunno how a company can prevent others from copying a work light though). Competition is always welcome.

Hopefully the competition will force them to keep innovating, thanks for commenting.

They all ripped off streamlights stinger switchblade, which is 10x the light of those turds. Those are probably made by the same Chinese kids, just rebranded.

I have two Braun lights. One failed in a years time. Bad switch & wiring. Purchased a second & that failed right out of the package. Again bad switch, wiring. Can't turn it on with the switch, have to turn the end cap to do so & that's by chance. Takes several attempts, but won't stay on. If it does stay on switch won't turn it off. have to tighten to just snug & it will never come on. Sometimes it comes on by itself if I don't tighten the end cap. End cap & body threading seem to be poor matchup. Won't buy either of these Chinesium products.
