This movie STILL gives me nightmares. It's haunting.

A ton of good tv movies in the 70s Barkey. Miss them. Another home run review big dawg.

I was a bit too young to watch this when it first aired, but i remember reading about it years later in Starlog, as well as accounts of the actual incident. May have to pick this one up, thanks for the reminder, Barkey! 😁

I knew this movie was real, no one believed me. I was told by so many people that James Earl Jones (RIP) would never be in a TV movie. This movie from what I can remember was spooky, and now I have to find the Blu-ray.

He did a bunch of TV. He starred in a TV series called "Gabriel's Fire" and then as the same character in a spin off called "Pros and Cons." My favorite was when he showed up on "Saturday Night with Connie Chung" in 1989 in a reenactment of the story of Vernon Johns. He played the civil rights figure again in a 1994 TV movie, "The Vernon Johns Story: The Road to Freedom."

TV movies could take chances on stuff the big screen couldn't touch, and they really ought to bring them back. Their low budgets gave them a better sense of reality.

TV movies in the 70's we're in a Golden era. Since costs were low they let film makers take chances. The Six million dollar man was originally just a TV movie, as was Columbo, The Night Stalker, Battlestar Galactica and others . And there are fantastic one-offs such as this or Duel.

My favorite James Earl Jones film outside of Star Wars is Swashbuckler. 1976. It debuted on Tv right after Star Wars came out and i never forget my first glimpse at the face behind Vader's plastic. It's not Shakespeare but you see him young, vital and active in a way none of his other roles did as he's running through the forrests in Jamaica, leaping on carriages or from roof to roof with Robrt Shaw. The actors took the jobs in part for the months on location in Jamaica. Think paid vacation. You can see they are having a blast.

I will have to look for that one!

@@BarkeyDog Don't tell me you haven't seen it? 1976(same time Jones was voicing Darth Vader at lucasfilm). Robert Shaw was disappointed that he could not play Sinbad in Golden Voyage of Sinbad (He has a cameo as the Oracle of all knowledge but is so heavily made up no one recognizes him) so when another sea picture came up he took the part of pirate Red Ned Lymch. It also kept him out of the US and England which saved his taxes. It was the second film for Genevieve Bujold and you get to see her, ALL of her, in a great scene. James Earl Jones is the first main character on the screen and commands it completely. Features Beau Bridges as the British "Major Folley", Peter Boyle (slightly miscast) as the villain, and familiars such as Avery Shreiber, Sid Haig and Geoffrey Holder (and his dance troup). Also introduces a previously unknown actress who had no speaking lines, just was Peter Boyle's main girl. Chick named Angelica Houston (No doubt got cast because she was some director's daughter- wonder whatever happened to her?) Directed by this guy called James Goldstone who did a lot of tv in the 60's including this little show that never went anywhere called Star Trek (Where no man has gone before & What are little girls made of). I am outraged that it is NOT available on Blu Ray but find the DVD -- it's a good transfer and should be affordable. or if it shows up on your wish list that might be convenient. Have a good one.

Yeah, why focus on all these A movie performances on Blu-ray, or online, when there is an obscure B movie gem, lying at bottom of a pile of dusty old VHS or BETAMAX magnetic tapes in the attic. Therefore, something "Barkey" this way comes.

Never seen this one but recall the big Alien Abduction Fad and Hypnosis thing of the Mid Late 80/90s. And sadly with James gone, who will do the Voice of Barkey in the BARKEY DOG MOVIE!?

I was hoping for William "Blacula" Marshall, but he's gone, too. :(
