Hi Marc, Very informative as always..What a great little machine with all the new tech to produce superb coffees. i like the simple design, with all the features on top of the machine to give it an aesthetic frontal finish..I have the Jura J9 One Touch and i always got a good Crema with this machine(make sure you adjust your grind setting)It's perfect for entertaining and for making a variety of push button multiple coffees. It's very robust/consistent and i am sure this little baby ENA Micro delivers the same if not better with all the new updates. My Machine is 6 years old and so far i had no problems or issues at all..!(make sure you clean it when the machine tells you) Jura has made an affordable automatic machine to give you the best coffees and most of all, year's of service. Personally, i do prefer the semi automatics because your in control of your coffee making.....

Hi J, Thanks for your comment and sharing your experiences and opinions! The PEP brewing does up the potential. You are correct about the cleaning. The brew groups in Jura machines are not removable so important to do that. But take care of them and they are very reliable like your 6 years without issue and more. We regularly get reports of machines going 10,000+ brewing cycles without issue. Agree semi-autos do give you more control with sacrifice of convenience.

Hi!! I just bought an Ena Micro 90 based on this video. I was surprised however at how weak the espresso was even with the stronger settings and finer grind. The espresso was coming out more like a strong coffee but not like a espresso at all. My local Jura distributor brought a brand new Ena Micro 90 and guess what... weak espresso again even with the stronger settings. Why didn't you mention this on your video? Did you not notice how weak the espresso is coming out of this model? Any recommendations? The local distributor offered me to make a change for the E6. Are the espressos from the E6 stronger than from the ENA micro 90? Thanks for your comments.

Hi David, Thanks for the comment. When making espresso on super-auto machine always start with the finest grind setting, max dose/strength and high brew temp. Sound like you've done all that. Keep in mind the max coffee dose on the Micro 90 is 10g so for bold espresso you want to make no more than a hair over 30ml/1oz of finished liquid. I use the Micro 90 at home everyday. While finished shot quality does not compare to barista shots from a professional machine they are quite good! Marc

@@Wholelattelovepage Thanks for the quick reply Marc!! I What about the switch to the E6 they are offering me? Does it have a higher max coffee dose than the Micro 90? Would the E6 make a bolder espresso? Thanks again!!

@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael, You are welcome and thanks for the question. I've been using the ENA Micro 90 at home for about 6+ coffees a day for more than 2 years. Unfortunately Jura no longer offers the machine new in the US but I have seen factory refurbs available. Our family loves the machine. It's compact, stylish, quick and makes a good long coffee. Not sure what size coffees you will be making but the reservoir is rather small so if making larger volumes reservoir refilling is my only complaint. E6 has a larger reservoir and can make 2 coffee beverages simultaneously. It uses the same brewing components internally as the Micro 90 so quality is identical. If you like the style of the ENA Micro 90 and will never do milk beverages the Jura A1 cost less than either and matches the 90's style: www.wholelattelove.com/collections/super-automatic-espresso-machines/products/jura-a1-piano-black-espresso-machine Marc

Hi Marc, thanks for the great reviews! I'm deciding between the micro 90 and a D6, and wondering if you could comment on the differences? I'm less concerned about buttons/screens but more with brew options and milk based drink performance. I'm leaning towards the micro 90 for the latte as that is my wife's drink of choice. Thanks!
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 3 жыл бұрын
Hi John, Thanks for the question. I'm partial to the Micro 90 as I've been using one at home for about 2 years now. Making a milk drink on the D6 is a slightly more involved process as the machine requires you to turn a knob when it's time for milk. On the Micro 90 it's one step. Milk froth quality is essentially the same on both machines. Both machines use the same brewing process so coffee espresso quality is the same. Marc

Great video as usual. I've bought the G. Brera you recommended to me, and it's amazing in every thing " the espresso quality, the convenience, & the price". This was really the machine I was looking for. Unfortunately, "Whole Latte Love" doesn't ship to Saudi Arabia, and they don't offer machines that require 220 volts, so I had to buy it from Italy. I hope that you upgrade your shipping service in the future as I wish to be able to buy my coffee beans from your store. Thanks.

Two questions If water is very soft, is it still necessary to use a filter or clean and/or descale.? You do not mention or demo how to clean, using the cleaning tablets. ?
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 4 жыл бұрын
Hi rt, Thanks for the questions. You do not have to use a filter. The machine comes with a water hardness test strip. When you initially setup the machine you will input the results of the water hardness test and also let it know you are not using a filter. Based on results of the water hardness test, filter use and number of brewing cycles the machine calculates when it's time to descale and will alert you do do it. Just so happens I've been using the ENA Micro 90 at home for a couple of years now. I do not use a filter as my water is relatively soft and of high quality otherwise. We probably average about 6 brew cycles a day. At that use level the machine alerts me about every 45-60 days to descale. Cleaning using the tablets is easy. Once again the machine alerts when it's time to do that. For me it's been about the same frequency as descaling. Just drop a tablet in the ground coffee bypass doser and the machine walks you through the rest: Empty drip tray, fill reservoir and run the cycle which last about 20 minutes and that's it. Marc
@richardtedesco164
@richardtedesco164 4 жыл бұрын
I use filtered refrigerator water. Need to recheck softness level. As I read it. Cleaning is a necessary routine. If you use a filter then you do not need to descale. No filter, then you will need to descale. Cost Descaling tablets are less expensive than filters. One interesting comment on FB was “Is it better to descale or use a filter which eliminates the build up of limescale.?”

Hi fc, E8 can make 2 coffees at the same time, has adjustable milk froth density, deeper programming and the color display. More of a milk drink specialist than the Micro 90.

Great Video! thinking about getting one of these and seeing it in action is very helpful. How is the milk frother on this machine though? It looked like the froth was very liquidy? not very stiff? Also have you tried using any other types of milk with the frother such as almond milk? Curious what those results would be like. Thanks!
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Kate, Thanks for the comment. I like the froth. It's on the finer texture side in comparison to other machines. Honestly most would consider finer froth as better than the a stiffer froth - of course everyone has there preferences! But baristas really train to make that super fine froth that mixes well with the espresso for the luxurious mouth feel. Different story if you're into more of a dry cappa - then you'd want the stiff stuff. We have used almond milk in super auto machines and the results are good. Have not used with this machine. We have found that different brands of almond milk froth a little differently from each other.

I am trying to decide between the low to mid range superautos. My criteria is what makes the best espresso, is quietest (not to wake anyone up), and simple to operate (avoid touch screen with loads of options), and we don’t really make milk drinks, so milk capabilities are not a concern. The Jura A1 seems to be a good fit, except it doesn’t do hot water, and I prefer Americanos. Other consideration is the Micro 90. Between the micro 90 and A1 is there really a difference in espresso quality? Is there much of a difference in flavor of the A1’s “coffee” vs the taste of an americano? Any other recommendations on machines in this range would be great. Thanks!
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Mark, Thanks for the questions. Espresso quality of the A1 and Micro 90 is the same. Full disclosure I've been using a Micro 90 at home for more than a year. It works out for me as my daughter likes the occasional milk drink. If not for her I'd probably go with the A1 as the wife and I don't do milk drinks. There is a difference between a true Americano and a long coffee made on a super-auto. I do a few espresso a week and 6+ long coffees daily on the Micro 90. Both machines use PEP brewing for espresso and no PEP when making long coffee. I love the long coffees from the Micro 90 and they are the same as what you'd get from the A1. They brew with a thin crema layer on top so resemble a well made Americano. Tuning flavor is a matter of finding the right grind size and strength setting for the beverage and beans used. I've never made an Americano on the Micro 90 so I can't speak well to the difference in flavor. Hope that helps! Marc

Why does it brew an espresso so quickly? Shouldn't it be 25+ seconds?
@Wholelattelovepage

Hi Jackie, for commercial semi-automatic machines the typical extraction time is 20-30 seconds. It's different with super-auto machines like this Jura which uses a pulse extraction process and gets the job done faster. Marc

Press the rotary button to display "Select Button" 4. Now push the button of the beverage you want to program. 5. Turn the rotary dial until "FLAVOUR" is displayed 6. Press the rotary button. 7. Turn the rotary dial to select the strength - more squares = more coffee! 8. With all squares illuminated for maximum strength press the rotary button to confirm the setting. "OK" will display 9. Turn the rotary switch until "Exit" is displayed and press the rotary button 10. The display should now read "PRODUCT". Turn the rotary dial until "EXIT" is displayed and press the rotary button to exit programming mode. Hope that helps! Marc

Hi Marc! I just know your channel today (I'm a subscriber now!) and I think is amazing! In your honest opinion, which model do you recommend to buy...Gaggia Anima Deluxe or this one Jura ENA micro 90? or maybe another in this range of price, technology, etc (like the Jura e8)? My wife and father in law loves the espresso; me, I love a nice hot cappuccino or long latte :) Have a great weekend!

Hi LRSG, Sorry for the delayed response and the subscribe - just back from touring espresso machine manufacturer facilities in Italy. I currently use a Jura Micro 9 at home. It's nearly identical to the Micro 90 with the exception of the PEP brewing. But, I do very few milk drinks at home. The Jura uses a pick up tube for milk drinks while the Anima Deluxe uses an attachable carafe. I find machines with an attachable carafe easier to use day to day than those with pickup tubes. If switching between straight espresso and milk-based drinks all the time I'd go with the Anima. Both make nice espresso. Easier to make 2 espressos at same time on the Anima. Marc

Hi Kathleen, FYI I have an ENA Micro 90 at home which the family uses for standard coffee and the occasional espresso and milk drink. I'd start with the obvious like making sure your strength setting is correct. If you use beans which have an oily sheen (not recommended) they can cause grinder clogs which might limit or prevent dosing. I'd give Jura Support a call if the issue continues: us.jura.com/en/customer-care/hotline-and-customer-service Marc

Hi,You are welcome and thanks for the question! Generally it's finer for espresso and coarser for longer coffee. I use this same machine at home. In my case I leave the grind 2-3 ticks from the finest setting when using an Italian style bean blend. The ENA Micro 90 uses Jura's PEP brewing when making espresso for deeper extraction. It does not use it when making longer coffee. With that many users like me can make both without changing the grind size. Hope that helps! Marc

Hi Adam, Good eye! Coffee used in the video was a Malabar Gold. As you observed it's on the oily side. It's not a coffee I'd recommend for use in super-autos. It's one of a very few coffees with an oily sheen that I like. As you might imagine, I end up drinking a fair amount of the coffees made when shooting videos so it helps to use something I like and I happened to have some in the studio so used it. In retrospect, probably not the best idea to use a coffee like that for the video.
