I've had a chance to skate these now and I couldn't be happier with my purchase of the K2 Uptown. For $200 I feel I would have been hard pressed to find anything I would have liked more. Great video and I agree across the board on your opinion here 💯🎯

I have K2 Sodo’s fell on my butt several times because of that flat foot bed and replace the Insoles as well, cotton sock will prevent from your foot rotating in the boot. I’m looking into the uptown to swap the R100 frames and use the uptown boot since it looks more rigid than the boots that came with the Sodo’s. Great review!

Awesome technical review. I just bought some new K2 Uptown's. I'm new to inline skating, but I went ice skating and skiing often when I was young where i learnt to slolam, crash into barrier, spin brake, and go backwards slowly. I chose these because they had my large size US13 and support wide feet (my feet are 30.5cm long, 11cm wide), plus they offer a UFC frame so I can try both freestyle (flat or rocker) or aggressive (buy another anti-rocker frame to try grinding on a H-block using its sole plate later when i'm more experienced) or speed (i.e. buy a larger frame with 100mm or more wheels when i'm more experienced). The wheels spin really smoothly on this skate. I did find it too easy to lean backward so I will buy those Superfeet if I can find them in my size, otherwise I'll just pull out the insole from an old set of sneakers and try using two insoles to get more forward lean and heel protection

Question: I'm having trouble deciding between these Uptowns and the FR1 skates. I'm going to be mostly urban skating, so the FR1s are more specific to that, but a lot of exercise I do positions my body weight over the entire foot, as opposed to the ball of the foot, so I have a natural tendency to be centered over my entire foot when I power off my legs. I also hate wearing heeled shoes, and much prefer shoes with flat soles like Vans. All this made me curious about the Uptowns, because they hare flat soled skates... but I don't know if I'm just over thinking this, and should go with the more activity specific FR1 skates since I know I am going to be urban skating. I curious if you have any thoughts on this, if for urban skating it's better to have heel raise of be more flat? And what are the differences in the way the uptowns feel compared to a raised heel skate? Do the raised heel skates feel like you're wearing high heels, with the weight on the balls of your feet, or does the weight feel more evenly distributed? Thanks!

I really like the looks of these states. I've skated when I was younger. I want skates to play some street hockey and just to cruise. Would these be good also can you put a 3 wheel frame on these as well.
@northernskatesman49643 жыл бұрын
I think they would be great for what you want to do. Just give them time to get used to that lean, and/or make some of the adjustments I mentioned. Of course there are better skates specifically for hockey. But these skates are a sort of "jack of all trades, master of none" kind of deal, which I think is the coolest think about them. And ya, you can put a three wheel frame on them. Virtually any UFS frame will work so tons of frame options!

@@eddyeffendy_ nice. Hopefully that helped! A lot of it is getting used to the sensation and then finding the sweet spot for the laces/buckles. Did u feel that the sizing of the skate is accurate? Do they feel too big or small for their size?
@northernskatesman49643 жыл бұрын
I think it's accurate. My skate size in terms of length is 42 EU, 9US. If I had of went with that size instead of sizing up worried about my stupid wide feet, they would have been perfect. Instead I sized up, but after the insoles and grip socks, they were good.

Nice review. I have an important question, does the boot have a plastic shell or is it completely malleable? my foot is very wide it measures 12cm and 30cm long if the boot has an inner plastic shell it will squeeze my foot. My size will probably be US 13 or 14.
@northernskatesman49643 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late response! Hopefully I got to you before you bought a pair. The whole boot malleable. So heat molding won't just affect the toe box or heel, it'll be the whole skate. I had the same worry with my wife feet, and two heat moldings did the trick. Hope that helps! And remember, you can add material to pressure points while heat molding to alleviate them as well.

@northernskatesman49643 жыл бұрын
I'm afraid I haven't owned a pair of inline hockey skates in a very long time. Last pair I owned were Missions which, just to put it into perspective, were bought out by Bauer in 2008. I like what I've heard about the Powerslide Reigns if you're looks like for a Bauer alternative though. Sorry I couldn't be more help on this one.

I have a set of size 13 uptowns on the way from K2 right now - the only thing I'm not stoked about is that I've learned from experience that a 243mm frame is too short for my feet. Good thing they also make the R100 frame!
