Wow THANK YOU so much for that initial negative review about the metallic markers. I took them off my Amazon wish list, you saved me a lot of money. I bought the silver yesterday and im obsessed with it, glad to know that one held up the best of the bunch.

Hi! Well, I greatly appreciate that and hope that you’re ok with not getting them💜 a couple of people in the comments gave suggestions for remedies to the problems I am having with the metallic ones, and I have tried them, but for me, it’s all to no avail. I think if I were the type of artist to use them every day they might have performed better for me. Nonetheless, Karin Markers are wonderful for lettering and I LOVE them on Rhodia paper! Happy art-ing! 🤠❤️

I have a project I started with these markers that I need to finish. I'm hoping it'll be really fun, but we'll see! The few extra details you did at the end with the gel pen really brought out his best features.

You should use wood pulp paper like grumbacher with brush pens they will dissolve all the way

Hi Joy! Thanks for watching and commenting❤️ I will give that a try-they are worth testing on several different papers…love these markers! I don’t think I mentioned it in this review, but lettering with them on Rhodia paper is truly a dream-have you tried that?

Hi, as for the problem with metallic markers it looks like you need to shake them very well after the long break. They contain metallic particles which "fall down". Just shake good and write few lines to get the pigment to the nib again. It should work 🙂

Hi Sylvester! Thanks for watching & commenting. I have tried that several times but some of them just don’t want to cooperate. I might dip the marker tip in a dot of water then shake them. That works for gel pens, and very little water shouldn’t matter with these. Thanks for the tip & have a great day!

I have had my eye on these Karin markers for a long time, tha k you so much for the review! Have you tried giving the metallic markers a good shake? It looks like the metallic pigment has separated. I might even try storing them upside down. But I agree that is disappointing and would contact the company.

Hi Christine! Yes, I’ve tried shaking the markers…great minds think alike lol! I think I just let them sit too long. The manufacturer says the mica should be stored flat. They come in a tin with each marker encased in a foam recess. I probably just let mine stay dormant too long.

I will likely only switch from using Tombow Dual watercolor brush markers to another brand of watercolor marker if it's refillable and lightfast and reasonably affordable. Tombow's aren't refillable or lightfast either, but they're fairly affordable and I think they perform beautifully. I don't use them so much anymore, but one time I did 2 small watercolor art works to compare Tombow's with regular artist quality watercolor using a brush. I used the same paper and even chose very similar colors. Honestly, if I hadn't marked what was what, I would not have been able to tell them apart. That's a pretty good standard for me so I'll just stick with the Tombow's for now. Thanks for your review. 😊

Hi Nancy! Thanks for watching and commenting! You might consider the Sennelier ink brush pens. They are pigment-based inks and refillable. I’ve got two reviews on them if you are interested: Trendy Colors: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jWTHiHywiZ5shMksi=UQsjcfYs0Zo6TXfl Iridescent Set: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e2Xbg3aBqL6MnsUsi=1FIxjS4xDHfwpvGb Have a fun, creative week!

Oh that's unfortunate, you could shake it but if the nib itself feels dry I don't there much you can do. On the other hand I love how vibrant your painting turned out 😍

Hello! Thank you ☺️ I agree it’s a bit frustrating, but an easy fix to replace the marker if needed.

Fun and informative video. My question is why would you use markers to do this when you can use real watercolor? What is the advantage of the markers if you’re going to use them like watercolor I think that’s my question
@artonthecreek

Hi Cat! Your question is great! Water-based markers can be a very versatile medium. They can be used as a base layer for additional media, as a painting medium and for lettering. The only drawback I can see to using these outside of a sketchbook is that you wouldn’t have lightfastness. For that, I would recommend the Winsor and Newton Watercolor Markers. They are pigment based, have lightfastness ratings, and for portable, versatile watercolor, they are wonderful! It’s always fun to try something new. This technique will even work with Crayola markers. Any water-based marker will do.
