After watching this clip I opted against the Mares viper and got me a Dorrle set with a snorkel instead. Never felt sorry for it, but noticed one thing: the manual that came with the set said you shouldn‘t use any aggressive detergents for the inside of the goggles. So I used only washing up liquid. Perhaps the toothpaste isn‘t such a good choice after all, as it contains small particles which might harm the surface of the glass. In any case the washing up liquid has done a great job so far, just as well as the Dorlle goggle.

Did you use a baby shampoo or something for defogger? Did it still fog after defogger?
@naumematlijoski83342 жыл бұрын
Hello there just next time from my experience if u don't have the toothpaste u can use a detergent for dishes that is anti foggy and if u don't want to pollute the water in Adriatic sea u can use your own spit and simple let it set for 1 min rinse it and ready to go my man thanks for your video I just bought the same mask cheers from macedonia

What, just flame it with a lighter? Does it not damage the silicone?
@michaeldepaepe5 жыл бұрын
@@tjashton you need to be careful of course and not point to the silicone but it is indeed the best method. Look it up 😉

Nice one Tom,just bought two of these as back ups but after watching your review the old Cessi masks may well be the back ups to these,did you get the fogging issue sorted?
@tjashton4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jeff. Yes the fogging was easily sorted with toothpaste. 18 months later and the mask is doing great. Very comfortable and well made.

That shellfish on 2:28 isthe rarest kind in adriatic. They are extremely endangered species. They are called "periska" .
@tjashton2 жыл бұрын
I read about that. I have seen many around Zadar and Trogir but I understand they are a very special species
@lukaj22242 жыл бұрын
@@tjashton what you have seen are probably dead clams. Tourists often see them and think that they are "not so endangered". Unfortunately, most of them are open=dead.
@tjashton2 жыл бұрын
Definitely both. Some were empty. But many were clearly displaying healthy mantle tissue and functional siphons. Also showing a closing response - very much alive.

How is the fit at the temples? The mask looks very narrow. Do you feel more pressure on the temples (in comparison to other masks) ? I have a wider face and was thinking about some headaches this could produce..
@tjashton2 жыл бұрын
I have not noticed any issue in that regard. The skirt is quite wide, which makes the mask seem smaller. I bought this in 2018 and I still use it as my main mask today.

what is with the yellow diving weight at 3:22?!
@tjashton5 жыл бұрын
Its 1kg weight that i sometimes clip on the end of my bouy line, and drop it to the sand. It allows me to leave the bouy static when I'm filming / photographing in a small area. Allows me to surface right next to the bouy without getting loops of line everywhere.

How comfortable is this Viper mask to the face? Does it leave marks? I shark dive and my old Cressi low volume is about to be replaced. I realized yesterday I need a new and better-designed mask that fits more comfortably and doesn't absolutely mangle your face after an hour in the water. Also -- have you heard if the fogging issue has been resolved? Thanks. -- J

It seals fine to my moustache. No problem. The rubber area that contacts the face is quite wide.
