Does the little tripod bar slide on and off the magsafe mount? Same question for the swiveling cold shoe.

No unfortunately. The MagSafe puck only is magnetic one way.

Yes! That’s the best part about MagSafe! Works without a case or any MagSafe cases! Including Apple’s!

Just imagine I’d the bottom part was HOTshoe mount and it could power the phone from the camera

I just got the phone case and the magnets are as weak as the ones on the apple cases. I don't know anyone who thinks the magnets are strong and if you watch the videos, you can see him hold the phone upsidedown but never really give it a good shake - because it would fall off. Same with the car mount video, he says potholes will not drop the phone but why not show up one video when recording. I know many viewers have had good magnet car mounts, if you have this does not compare.

Just picked up the portrait/landscape tripod mount with cold shoe. Looking forward to easily popping my phone on and off a tripod mount, rather than using those flimsy “phone mounts” that grab the sides of your screen.

Apple was too loose with the MagSafe branding. MagSafe should imply that it also supports wireless charging, otherwise any magnet in the world (like these) are “MagSafe”.

I understand where you are coming from, but MagSafe is *primarily* the connectivity standard. And it’s being used for everything from mounts, wallets, chargers, cases, and more. So tripod mounts, wallets, and chargers can all use MagSafe. It will be up to accessory companies to be clear what their devices do.

Magsafe is a standardized arrangement of magnets though, the iphone already had wireless charging. Also companies have to pay for the magsafe licensing (of course) but they are unable to use the licensing unless the product has equal to or stronger magnets than what apple provides with their own accessories. Imo thats as standardized as it needs to be.
