MXR make a bewildering array of OD/Dist units, I have a good few and I like the fact even the heavier ones roll back to a slight breakup unlike lots of other brands. They retain a classic sound. The SB Distortion is one hell of a pedal.

I only just got into MXR pedals after buying an MXR Bass Compressor. I cannot believe how much money I wasted on three inferior compressors when I should have just forked over the $180 a long time ago. It brings up the valleys and chops down the peaks just like how I like it, without over compressing the signal. Then I purchased the MXR M80 Bass DI+, with three (3!) outs: a regular 1/4" out so one can use it as a preamp, a bypass out which sends out what it receives unaffected, and a balanced XLR out. It also has a mean sounding distortion with a blend knob, which I use to blend in a SVT sound. Then there is the "color" switch, a magical device, which to my ears sounds like it puts a second preamp circuit with a set mid-scooped EQ curve before the primary preamp EQ circuit, which just thickens the sound so much. Now I'm getting into the MXR Distortion + pedal, a two-knob wonder which sounds gritty but never overly so, perfect to blend with a dirty amp. Really now, where was I all this time? Why am I only JUST getting into MXR? Now, if only MXR would just put the in/out jacks and power supply jack on the top where they freaking should be, like they are on the EVH distortion pedal, we'd be in business!

Edgar Soares o il diavolo e shin-juku são da Custom Shop. O primeiro acho um dos melhores pedais que a MXR já lançou. Casa muito bem com o 5150 pois abrange um espectro tonal completamente diferente do 5150. Vale a pena. Recomendo a loja Diperez que tem pra vender o il diavolo a um preço muito abaixo do mercado. I love the Super Badass so much that after selling my first one to finance the Helix LT, I just had to get another one and use it in addition to the Helix. I just love the way it responds, I use it whenever I need those super smooth, singing Yngwie-like tones (think Fire and Ice).

Para meu goso pessoal anda não fizeram um Pedal de Distorção Melhor que o Distortion III e de Overdrive que o GTOD. O il Diavolo me surpreendeu muito gostei! Achei bem oldschool e tem harmonicos pronunciados.! O Shin-juko me pareceu muito fuzy! Não gostei para meu som... O Distortion+ ou o Script Logo os dois tem volume extremamente baixos perto do resto. Prime distortion achei muito parecido com o DSIII e o 5150 achei muito bom! Excelente Review! Um dos primeiros que nao fica usando o Maldito Delay junto!

Great collection of pedals. I hear the same clipping on all of them. Just the way it's presented, i.e. other knobs it has. I preffer analog pedals to digital for live playing. Any of these are a good start to getting your own tone. Add some delay and you have a great sound. That said, I would note most of these are older pedals, I would look at newer stuff too. Great video, I liked it.

Fet Driver, Super Badass Distortion, and the EVH 5150 Driver . Run any of two of those side by side with the outputs on max the tone where ever you like, and the distortion or drive down, you got yourself a nice krunchy hard as fuck sound my friend

Great demo! The Il Torino is another great OD pedal, probably my favorite in front of my Fender Blues Jr. 15 watt, just has a nice "tubey" sound and reaction. I also have the Prime and Super Badass....all great tools to color your tone....might have to add the fet driver to my list now.

Hi Steven I noticed you have the prime distortion and also the superbadass (me too). Have you noticed the different output level between both? I really love the Prime Dist. however having this at full output level it never reach the Superbadass at 10 am output level. If not, What do you recommend?

@@aristidesvillegas7167 Yes, there is quite a difference in output and gain on both pedals. If you are trying to use both you will likely just have to try and match the output levels as much as you can to minimize volume loss when you switch from one to the other. I suspect it may have to do with how the Prime was made and priced as almost a budget MXR pedal well below even the standard MXR Distortion+. The Superbadass is a superior pedal and sound to me...but the Prime absolutely nails ZZ Top gain with a crispy edgy tone. I rarely if ever use them together and swap Distortion pedals based on what I'm working on at the moment.

Great video-thanks! I've tried the Diavolo, shin-juku, GOT-OD, and the II torino. I'd say the shin is great for minor, more controlled boost and OD, blues and fusion type jazz, the Diavolo and the torino are similar in the same way Marshall, Soldano, and others are similar, yet each with a slightly different voicing. The GOT-OD is clearly the favorite as when you find one, it's often beat while the others can be found clean. GOT-OD is best for those who look for a more traditional OD sound, perhaps the closest in the lot to a TS. All four are great and though the difference can be subtle, one can hear it clearly. Torino and diavolo are best for distortion other than OD, metal and hardcore, yet can also work well for OD, though less controlled than the shin. The shin does not do distortion. GOT-OD again does distortion as a TS does it. More of an overdrive. Shin is the best for boost alone. Just one guy's opinion.

Love MXR, but I"m not always hearing the difference in their drive pedals. The EVH, maybe, but it sounds a little muddy to me, as if there is a hint of reverb on the drive. I personally use the Bad Ass Distortion. I think it's the most versatile, and it's exactly how I would overdrive an amp--a simple voume with gain and bass, treble and mid-range tone controls. Overdrive the gain and dail in the voilume. Simple. Good video though.

7:49 *BEHOLD* watch, as the noise gate on the 5150 drive does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. A noise gate is supposed to SILENCE your signal.... Call me a freak, but but the noise gates in my rig do the job. They Don't only work on my pedals, the amp is quite too. Nothing but white noise. No fizz whatsoever. Either you've got a crappy cable in your rig or that thing doesn't work as it honestly should. There are $70 noisegates out there that will do the job 10x better. With the cash saved you could get an EQ pedal to throw in front of your current distortion pedal you'd have at home and at that point you don't need this hunk of poppycock. The price is no longer justifiable
