Beautiful pair of boots. I own 2 pairs of black Jack boots and their craftsmanship is second to none. One caveat that my cobbler advised me on when selecting boots no matter the manufacturer. He said if you want a long lasting boot, stay away from anything that swims or crawls. He claimed the most comfortable and durable leather for boots is ostrich. Again, you got a beautiful pair of boots. Keep them hydrated to extend their life.

Good advice but there are exceptions. Shark is a very resilient leather! Very tough! It’s funny he should say that…while ostrich is very comfortable, it is the leather I have seen wear the fastest

I am a size 14 and yes, they are hard to find. Decided to have my measurements taken at a Cavender’s boot store and sent to Black Jack. They have it now in their system at Black Jack. Now when I want a pair, I go online, look at all options and then place my order. First pair was an ostrich, and then I added elephant and pirarucu

Question. I am highly considering buying these from pinto ranch. How does thr leather hold up? I guess my concern is the scales....just worried they might start ripping apart.

They seem to be far more resilient than you would think. I wouldn’t make work boots out of them but regular wear and conditioning, should last for years
