I've done this 3 times ....annual passholders get a discount. Our last trip was in Jan. ....10 rides on Mine Train, 2 Peter Pan's, 1 Winnie the Pooh & 1 time on the carousel. All this before breakfast, which we do right when they start letting the masses into Fantasyland. We also like to frontload our Fastpasses for 9, 10 & 11am and you're off to a magical day! Totally 100% worth it, no question. For the record, the breakfast is pretty good, all things considered.

Subscribed to TouringPlans (the website) a little bit ago and I must say, I LOVE how you do these videos where you allow us to see your mistakes and find the solution later in the video. It makes it so much more realistic to the viewer than this perfectly edited sequence where everything is rosy. Your video shows how an actual person would approach things and that is so cool.

Why is Touring Plans having mistakes? This is year 2 of EMM and he doesn't know that its only Fantasyland and its only the 3 rides? I have not been to EMM or run a planning site and I know that the best plan is to hit the three rides as much as you can and then have breakfast as they are letting regular guests in. Makes me questions TouringPlans ability to make my vacation easier.

Joseph Ferrara sounds like you are so smart that you need to start your own website. 1) you are watching this video for some reason, so you're either trying to validate your own ego, or you don't actually know as much as you think you do 2) touring plan's targeted demographic is people like me who have never been to Disney World. This was really good info for me. You appear to already know as much or more than what he's talking about in this video 3) my comment was on the learning process displayed in the video, a view of humanity that many on KZbin are terrified of showing in their videos. This honesty is a positive trait to me. You missed this point spectacularly.

We’ve never done after hours but we have done early morning magic and, honestly, because our girls are 7 and 8, it makes more sense to get them up early and in the parks to ride 3 of their favorite rides as many times as they (or we🙈) can handle it and not push them to their limits at night .. early morning magic for win for our family 😃

Glad you figured it all out there! Yes, I was one of the people shouting "It's a Small World is not open!" as you walked by it noting the lack of line. My family of six loved EMM at FantasyLand, and I think you're right to note that the early vs. late experiences really depend on your group. With four kids ages 2-12, the morning was best for us. If we did the night one, my toddler would have been asleep in her stroller and we would have had some crabby older folks. Obviously, if you're a night owl, the night experience would be better for you. But we loved the dewy sunlight of early morning in the MK. The lack of lines helped some more anxious members of my group screw up the courage to get on the Seven Dwarves--and then keep doing it until the photos finally show them with their hands up and smiling on their eighth ride instead of gripping the handlebar for dear life on the first ride! The CMs know that there will be a rush at the end of the window for breakfast, and everything seemed prepared. Definitely not scraps or dregs when we sat down at 9:30am for a hearty breakfast. We were encouraged to grab an extra pastry and coffee for the road, too. The EMM is not for everyone, but it can be a lot of fun. I cherish the experiences of getting to ride something over and over with no wait, and the photos with no other tourists in them in front of the castle and while my toddler rode the carousel.

You mean they made you wait after breakfast until park opening to let you on the fantasyland rides since you didn't purchase EMM, right? I think advantage comes in as you can ride SDMT probably 10 times and a few on Peter Pan, go have breakfast and then go straight to Space Mountain for park opening without having to use a FP. You won't have a wait for Space Mountain because everyone goes to SDMT at park opening. You have Big Thunder, Splash and Haunted as scheduled FP's. You literally could do all the major rides casually by lunch time. This works really well if you want to split parks on a day.

Melissa Emerson, what were crowds like while you were there? We are planning to go late August and crowd levels according to Touring Plans will be about a 5. I'm trying to gauge what that means to me in real life.
@hotroller486 жыл бұрын
Angie Schamehorn for us it meant rope drops and lunch breaks and/or switching parks. It was crazy busy, but usually only in peak hours say 11-4 or 5. We would ride all the rides we did not have fast passes for first then use the FPs and then have a sit down lunch and switch parks. This worked for us because we were two adults who did not have to stick to a schedule. I booked everything well in advance and we had a great time. Hope that helps!

I haven’t done either (I have tickets for the March 8th after hours), but here’s my take from what I’ve seen: the people who want to get on *every* ride during their trip should do After Hours over Early Morning Magic because of the number of rides available and the minimal wait time. Most adults traveling without kids (especially young adults who are comfortable with staying up later) should do After Hours...again, because of the ride list (especially the fact that *all* the coasters are open). Parents with young kids should *definitely* do Early Morning Magic if their kids are usually up during that time. You’re not paying *that* much more than you would have spent for an equivalent in-park breakfast anyway and the chance to get two of the bigger “little kid” attractions out of the way early (Peter Pan and Winnie the Pooh) is going to be worth it later in the day. Mine Train is just so popular that they had to open it to tempt adults to buy Early Morning Magic tickets at all. *Not everyone can get themselves up for rope drop!*. In fact, as someone who tends toward being a night owl I nearly wrecked my last vacation going against my body clock and forcing myself to heed all the Early-bird advisors when it came to the rope drop thing. Never. Doing that. Again. After Hours for me all the way. 😎

Laura Smith Totally agree. We’re planning to do EMM as we have two small children (eldest is also big enough for SDMT) & will be up early with jet lag so it works perfectly for us. If the kids were older or not with us, then the evening event would be our choice. Horses for courses!

It was so nice meeting you that day, Brian! After our 8AM Be Our Guest reservation, we walked over to 7 Dwarfs and they stopped us when we got just past the archway. They asked to see our Extra Morning Magic bands (which, of course, we did not have) and told us to line up at the trashcan to get on 7 Dwarfs when the park opens. We were allowed to venture to the right (towards Peter Pan), but not the left (towards 7 Dwarfs). At that time, there were only a couple of people standing behind the trashcan and it was a good half hour before opening, so we decided to wander for a minute. We didn't attempt to ride Peter Pan because we figured they would be looking for wristbands there too. After we chatted with you and we turned the corner and saw the line you pointed to in the video (which was pretty long by then) we regretted our decision to wander. LOL! But in actuality, we still beat the wave of rope drop people from the hub and it didn't take much time at all to go through the line at 9AM. There were some people behind us in line that were PISSED that they were turned away for not having wristbands. Something about how they did early morning BOG reservations during EMM before and were able to get on 7 Dwarfs no problem. I just shrugged it off. I might actually consider EMM when we go back in December. If you consider that our BOG meal was $24 per person, EMM was only $45 more and the food actually looked a lot better! AND you get the ride advantages you spoke of! By the way, we were talking to you that morning about how we watched your Flight Of Passage video multiple times to come up with our game plan. LOL! Well, we had all intentions of getting to Animal Kingdom an hour before the 8AM Extra Magic Hours, but thanks to our 8-month-old son crying half the night, we didn't get our butts through the turnstiles until just before 8. Luckily we were there during a non-peak time of year and during Extra Magic Hours, so we still had a more reasonable wait of about 30-45 minutes. Very manageable for our family with 2 kids under 2.5. :)

Robyn Miller I went last spring and had BOG breakfast and we got stopped up on the line as well. The crowd calender didn't have EMH so thought I was good 160 days out. Still didnt know about EMM or would have done that instead. Oh well, next year :)
@robynmiller63996 жыл бұрын
Brian LeBail, we knew about EMM, and “hoped” we could ride, but didn’t expect it like the people behind us in line. We probably wouldn’t have done EMM had we known for sure ahead of time we couldn’t ride, just because we were going to the DVC Moonlight Magic that night and didn’t see the need to pay the extra money. But our next trip will be shorter and (I’m assuming) won’t have a Moonlight Magic, so I’m definitely considering it now! Especially after seeing that buffet! 😬

I also had a BOG early reservation but started reading things about you can’t really get on the rides before opening, so then looked into the EMM. If the BOG breakfast is $25, if you say the buffet would be the same price (it probably wouldn’t anyway), it’s $45 to get in early and ride the rides (and Peter Pan is my FAVORITE!!!). Definitely worth it to me. I booked this morning and cancelled BOG. Looking forward to this, hope I have the same experience with no lines :)

So here is my take.. we did Early Morning Magic with our 2 year old last year and will DEFINITELY be doing it again. It is pricey- but I see it this way- not only do you get some major attractions done at that time, you are set up for success the rest of your day. Also- we like to do the breakfast toward the end- still yummy and refreshed at 9:30/9:45 when we did it. The breakfast was BETTER in my opinion than what we pay $40-50/person (approx) for character meal buffets. So I feel this is actually more valuable. When we did it, Peter Pan was unexpectedly shut down for the day, which was a huge disappointment.. but they ended up opening small world, pooh, carousel, and teacups to make up for it. I rode the mine train 8 times while my hubby and son did small world and carousel on repeat. The 3 of us did all the rides together, too, and had the yummy breakfast (and took coffee and pastries to go, too).

Just bought tickets for this event in June. My teens are super excited about riding 7DMT over and over and getting to use their FPs for other rides that day and not on PP. Also, being in the park at rope drop will hopefully allow them to ride space mountain a couple of times without a FP as well. Getting breakfast with this ticket is a bonus because a dining reservation can be expensive and still wouldn't get you multiple rides on the attractions.

Thanks Brian for this video! We are going second week of October and have been to MNSSHP three times so want to skip that, so we can't ride any rides after 6pm. That would limit our touring a lot without EMM. Your videos in the park help SO MUCH because you can see the process. Thanks again!

Both definitely have their perks but the morning magic intrigues me a bit more. Its cheaper, and while there are not as many attractions going, you get food and coffee which is nice. We rode multiple times by waiting until almost close one time. When everyone left after the nighttime parade, we walked against the crowd into Fantasyland. That was the same trip where we walked right in to meet Elsa and Anna when they were still in Fantasyland when they had 2-3 hour waits. We literally walked right in. They were tired (it was almost midnight).

I think I would probably do the morning one because I'm an early riser too and I like how the parks feel early in the morning. We did After Hours in May of 2016. It is absolutely our favorite Disney event. We are booked for EMM in June, so we will see how it goes. Touring Plans just updated hours to a 3 crowd level for that day, so we should be able to do everything. :-) I liked the point that you made about freeing up our fast passes, but also the time we would have spent on these rides during the day. Thanks!

I much prefer After Hours, without a doubt. Did it on Feb 15. Spent the morning at Hollywood Studios to do Tower of Terror, and rope dropped Toy Story Mania which was a bonus. Then had a relaxing afternoon touring the Magic Kingdom Resorts, before an immensely enjoyable evening at the After Hours event with Space Mountain pretty much to myself!!! :-D They even opened up the shortcut within the mountain between the unloading and loading stations so you could re-ride very very quickly as many times as you wanted on either tracks. Also was able to do everything else within the park within an hour including Splash Mountain and Thunder Mountain, and Seven Dwarfs was only a 10min wait. That was the only time I got to ride Seven Dwarfs during my vacation, so it was worth it just for that. What was also really noticable was a distinct change in atmosphere and mood with cast members and visitors compared to normal hours. You could really tell everyone during the event was having a fantastic time. No queues, no stress, no hassle, much more relaxed. There was more general chatting and conversations between staff and visitors, and the Space Mountain staff were really going out and trying to generate a fun atmosphere. Yes it's an expensive ticket, but wow it was worth every single cent! Best time I've ever had at a Disney park. :-D

I’ve never been to either one but based on the videos I’ve seen I would prefer the late night hours. I feel even though the difference in price is substantial, in the early one you get 3 rides and at night you get close to 15-20. That’s 5 Times the rides and only double the price. And there’s also free snacks at the late night one

I vote for morning magic. It is half the price, you get a yummy-looking breakfast, you get into the park early and ride three big rides (maybe 4) and you are in position to hit another big ride as soon as it is open, and i'm a morning person. Also it gets you to the park early which is key to a good park day. I would love to see a Touring Plan specifically that incorporates Early Morning Magic.

Basically they let you line up near the 7DMT queue, but you can't ride until near park opening. It is still an advantage because they let that line on before the crowd shows up, and if you're fast enough (and they let you in early enough) you might be able to circle around and get back in line. - Brian

If a crowd calendar is listing MK as the best park option for a particular day(Sunday, for example), but there are EMM hours that day, is it still a good option? I was planning on doing rope drop for 03/10, then found out EMM is scheduled that day.
@touringplans5 жыл бұрын
Yes. EMM doesn't really impact the crowds at rope drop because the event is fairly limited and they don't hang around in Fantasyland once it's over. If you're planning on going to Big Thunder first, you might run into some extra people, but if you're going to Fantasyland or Tomorrowland first you'll be just fine. - Brian

Brian, once again a great informative video and insight into EMM. But the cost verses the available rides makes it just not worth the money. It's a good strategy, as you say, to get these rides done, then fast pass other big rides in other Magic Kingdom lands if you're short on time. But I would be in favour of your other Tour Plans' strategy of doing Peter Pan first, may be twice at rope drop, then some of the other popular rides in Fantasyland, then fast passing Seven Dwarfs' Mine Train about 30 minutes after rope drop....... Where would our Disney holidays be without Brian and the team and the Tour Plans app?

They weren't there when I first went in, but were when I left (around 9am). The problem is that starting at about 8am or 8:15am they begin letting all guests into Main St and the hub. They can't go further than that without a breakfast reservation or Morning Magic reservation, but they could still clog up the Photopass photographer. I'd suggest asking some Cast Members on the way in or asking a Photopass photographer if you're at MK a day or so before to see what time they start. - Brian

If I'm staying at a resort where I'm relying on a bus (most of them) you'll want to be at the bus stop 30-45 minutes before you want to be at the park. You have to have a regular park ticket to enjoy this event. The cost would be in addition to your regular park ticket.

I would do the morning but only if I was alone or with just one other person. Three, four, five people it can get too pricy very quickly.

Seriously considering this for our spring break trip. Especially since they have added most of Fantasy Land, including Princesses! It will be half of our party's first time at Disney. This seems like it would really be a magical start!

Is this an ongoing event for Disney?
@touringplans6 жыл бұрын
Sort of. It has semi-regular dates through May then will likely take the summer off. Sometimes they do fall dates, sometimes they'll wait for January again. - Brian

Done After Hours............as stated much more rides to ride....I'd do it again. Worth the extra cost
@JL-11236 жыл бұрын
This was definitely worth it for my family. Getting to knock out Peter Pan quickly w/o a fast pass was awesome, and Pooh is one of my 3-year-old's favorites, so getting to ride that multiple times (and even play around in the queue, which he also loves) was great. We also rode the carousel and teacups twice each before the 9AM rush. When the rest of the park opened we of course got to avoid the craziness at Mine Train and hit Dumbo and Barnstormer multiple times very quickly... I think by noon we'd had close to 20 total rides, not to mention a breakfast that I would favor over the overpriced Be Our Guest disappointment. IIRC we'd only done about 8 total rides before 9am, so you can see how well the event set up the rest of our day.

I have done both and enjoyed both. I prefer the morning one because I got to walk on rides multiple times that always have a long wait. During After Hours, the wait for Mine Train never got below 30 minutes and Peter Pan was usually 10-15 minutes; this is important when you have 3 hours for everything. The additional rides with little to no wait at After Hours were also fun, but not that much better than a fairly low crowd level day with a good touring plan.

How do you find out when after hours is available to book the week of June 12 2018 to June 19th 1018
@touringplans6 жыл бұрын
It likely won't be. They only do the After Hours when the park is closing at 8 or 9pm and in June that almost never happens. It seems to be a mostly Jan-Mar thing. - Brian

After Hours definitely takes the cake. Worth the price to be able to do nearly all attractions at what I think is when Magic Kingdom is most magical, late at night. (Also found it creepy when you wandered off and it felt like there was Haunted Mansion music playing behind you lol)

I know! The music was weird in the moment, but on playback it was so noticeable. If it was dark I wouldn't have made it out...alive - Brian

what is Disney going to do with pop century resort and river country. keeping them abandoned is bad for the environment re build river country and fix pop century resort
@touringplans6 жыл бұрын
River Country I have no idea, but the abandoned part of Pop Century is now the Art of Animation resort. Although it definitely sat abandoned way too long. - Brian

I have been trying SO HARD to find a way to rationalize this for my family of four. But even though the idea of being able to ride back-to-back with no lines sounds amazing, I was struggling to go for it. I work really hard with the Touring Plans software to make sure we have super efficient days, and we rarely wait in line for more than ten minutes, so I just didn't think I would be able to swallow the cost for one hour of lines-free riding. BUT THEN - I realized if we timed our breakfast towards the end of the window, we could "count it" as both breakfast AND lunch, and all of a sudden my frugal heart was fooled in to thinking it's totally worth it!

Did Magic Kingdom for the first time and I have to say Disneyland blows it out of the water. MK just doesn’t have the charm of DL. Way better rides and just better in every way possible. I’m still here at DW now and I’m hoping the parks get better because I was very disappointed in MK.

$70? No thanks. Those 3 rides, and breakfast... I can't justify the cost with just that. The extra magic morning hours coupled with the Touring Plans itinerary has always been good to me. Sure, I won't be riding Seven Dwarfs Mine train and Peter Pan 5 or 6 times... but that's not something my group would probably want to do anyway... especially in a row haha. As you said, it's worth some money... I'd maybe pay $30 tops for this experience.

I think for our family, EMM is a better choice...we like morning touring, and my 7D fanatic loves stealing other peoples FPs for it so she can ride back to back ….so this way she can ride 8-10 times...I get my Peter Pan and Pooh, and we all get a yummy breakfast...with the advantage of NOT having to FP 7D and PP for later in the day....looks like the start of "the best day ever". :)
