Congrats to the seven of us! Yeah, it's been extremely lucrative on all fronts . The biggest thing for me is I'm still just fascinated by it, blows my mind that I'm typing this on my phone that has cell phone service from a helium phone plan, on helium mobile infrastructure I've added to the network. Even lorawan, my little mntd miner just chugging along , ended up getting some of the dimo macarons because of how they're offloading data using helium's lora network. I know a lot of people got burned by a lot of the manufacturers previously , and that's a big part of the reason people hate helium, which doesn't even have anything do with them as it was just these shoddy companies, but I think this rise of mobile is getting people's attention again.

I don't think anyone really did, early numbers were that it would earn as much as the indoor CBRS , so figured it'd be 3x of indoor , but didn't realize it would cover so many hexes, which was a nice surprise and also the fact that the mobile token has such an insane increase in price is what caused it. Currently a steal at this price if the mobile token can stay in this price range

@miningstacker
@miningstacker 7 ай бұрын
Yes, so this isn't like the iot devices where you essentially needed people around you to connect and witness, the rewards estimate on the helium planner site is just for proof of coverage , you also get additional rewards for offloading data on top of that if you have helium subscribers around you at a rate of .50 USD/GB , but those estimates on helium planner are just for providing coverage even if you're the only one in your city.

@miningstacker 3 ай бұрын
So this video is now 4 months old and it is now down to that amount. The downfall with the indoor is it will only cover that one hex. You can earn more if you offload data from other helium mobile subscribers and hopefully will add more service providers as time goes on. Your earnings actually should go in about two days by 80ish or more percent when the new HIP takes effect on may 10th. As far as earning 1000 or more , it's just up to how much you can offload , but the indoor is just limited to that one hex , whereas the outdoor just has so much more potential coverage.

Have a j-pole set up on the eave of the house where I had my lorawan antenna and was just strapped on to that existing pole. They include a mount as well as straps to attach it to a pole, so it was a pretty straight forward install . When you do the helium planner , the azimuth is the direction of the antenna and you can mess around with it to determine the direction that will give you the most coverage to earn the most rewards

The new wifi units are all standalone units so don't need a gateway or anything , the issue you would have would be overlapping coverage and reduced rewards because of that and the CBRS still earn quite a bit more , so wouldn't be worthwhile at the same location. There are going to be a lot of HIPs in the near future though where things may be changing a bit

Yes, they are completely different miners, the 300 is a lorawan device that earns iot , these provide coverage for helium Mobile and earn the mobile token. You can have both and won't affect earnings. I'm running all three, have my mntd iot device, in indoor helium miner, and outdoor miner and they all earn individually what they should. My outdoor mobile device is attached on a pole next to my iot 8dbi antenna with no issues.

You do get payed for offloading data .50 USD per GB up to 5gb month, so if you have a location with a lot of foot traffic can add up ,but keep in mind will only work for people who have helium Mobile service, but the figures I'm giving are primarily for proof of coverage.

You do not have to, can earn additional rewards if you are and offload data. If you're not up to date though with everything going on, I would highly suggest waiting a few months until these HIPs all play out and you can see if it's worthwhile or not. The reward structure is undergoing pretty drastic changes to incentivize very city/urban/metro areas specifically and will greatly reduce and won't be reflected on the helium planner until fully Implemented

I am , that is something that is kind of weird going on. I had 300mb down and had trouble passing on only my outdoor, had to up it to the 500mb service to pass all the way, which doesn't make alot of sense as 300mb should be more than enough. But check the ping on helium geek on your last speed test and see where the weak link is, could be a switch , for me mite have been my mesh system , it's fairly old. My indoor is in the router next to modem and that one has no issue, but my outdoor is plugged to one of the other satellites and that may have been the issue, but bumping the speed was an easier fix.

This video was quite a while ago alot has changed with the different HIP's , I'm guessing it's an indoor unit? If you're not in a heavy urban footfall area , rewards have gone down significantly. Make sure your speeds/,tests are good to make sure you're earning the most you can. I recommend helium geek , look up your miner and make sure you're passing your speed test at the full multiplier. If you are all green there , then it's just your area , they are now heavily targeting those downtown , urban areas and that's where the rewards are going.

The planner shows my location only earning 745 credits per day for the outdoor. Not worth it. However, I did see a video where that can increase by 2500% if there is another witness unit more than 300 meters away that it can contact with. Has anyone found that to be true?
@miningstacker
@miningstacker 6 ай бұрын
For 745 not worth it , make sure you play around with the azimuth (angle) as that can drastically change to be rewards , for example , one direction on mine makes double what the other makes. If your not in a urban/city area or heavily populated area may not be as worthwhile now , as usual the early adopters make the most . The rewards structure is going to change heavily in the coming months to incentivize the better placed hotspots , so allocations will change quite a bit as they implement all the footfall oracles for the new calculations , should be done in three months. I'm still in a decent area , so should earn okayish, but even if it goes to a fraction , I'm more than ok , have made over 420k mobile these two months with just my 2 outdoor units , currently down to about 6200 /day with them.
@miningstacker
@miningstacker 6 ай бұрын
And as far as it increasing that amount , not going to affect your proof of coverage rewards, maybe you were looking at an iot video. The POC rewards is what you get per epoch for co ering the amount of cells and you also get paid for data offloading at a rate of .50 USD/gig for helium subscribers and that's it, they're not meant to connect or witness each other, that's the iot helium devices, which has nothing to do with mobile.

Wondering how many indoor hot spots we can use since there is a monthly cap - would after the cap it just go to the next one... if you know what I mean thanks...
@miningstacker
@miningstacker 7 ай бұрын
Not sure how the overlapping coverage would be , but even if you could have more than one on same hex, probably wouldn't be the case for long . The outdoor one can make significantly more depending on location and those are directional , can have more than one facing opposite directions. For example indoor covers only 1 hex , one of my out doors covers 637 hexes and makes about 7800 mobile , but just depends on location and direction. For example the other direction makes a little more than half that, but definitely much more potential with outdoor. I have a friend that lives in a condo in Miami Beach, The planners shows 100x - I've ordered 4 more indoor and 2 outdoor ones. The indoor ones arrives hopefully tomorrow. Question - How does the 100x work? and I already have 2 indoor ones to which earlier on today I placed one at a neighbors house. Today When I checked the rewards on the indoor mobile miner it was only at .152 GB data download last 24 hours and it brought in 379.44 mobile tokens. The one I have at my house 2.8 GB data download and earned 1,466.18 mobile tokens. The house that I brought the lower one too doesn't really use electronics. So a few questions if you have the time to answer them, I really appreciate it. 1. Users have to switch off their cell phones the auto connect from their current wifi and click on the helium mobile wifi. When doing this it asks for a user name and pass word, I just wait a few seconds and click back and then it connects. What is the correct way to do this. Is there a username and password for each mobile miner? And If this is set up would that keep that persons phone always connecting to that indoor miner in the house. 2. What is considered Data traffic as per my indoor states 2.8 GB downloaded in the last 24 hours. I have 3 phones all on the $5, $5 $20 plans - My main phone is the $20 monthly - why I have no idea why mines is at $20 and my wifes and childs is at $5. Thanks Michael @@miningstacker

@@workfromyourcomputer6114 oooo man, the 100x boost is what it sound like, going to be a significant boost in rewards! So for the indoor units it should be a fixed rate of currently 971 mobile + any data offloaded with a max of 5gb per line per month that get rewarded at .50 USD per GB. If you are earning under the 971 it is most likely not passing something on the speed test. I would highly recommend using helium geek , it's a free app and you can monitor all your iot /mobile devices in one place. So for the speed test it has to pass at over 100mbps down, 10mbps upload, and under 50ms ping, if it goes under any of those on the test it will ding half your rewards,I had to up my at home service to pass the speedtests even though it's well above that to 500mbps, something going on with the test servers they use as others have had problems with it as well, if you go on helium geek it will show you your speeds on the 2 speed tests you get per day. You can also access the hotspot dashboard at this site hotspots.hellohelium.com/auth/login/methods/helium-mobile-wallet As for connecting , it should theoretically auto connect, if it's the faster service, but like in my case , my home WiFi is faster , so I have to manually connect it. if you're having trouble connecting , likely has an issue with the certificate on phone , may want to try deleting the mobile app and reinstalling the app so the certificate updates and that may do it. And for the pricing , the 5 dollars was the initial beta price , which is what I pay , or if you're in Miami ZIP codes, if you were neither , then enjoy the discount, 😂. But yeah man, get at least two outdoors on that boosted location, will earn a ridiculous amount ! Use the helium planner so you can see which way to point is will be most profitable. The azimuth field is the direction , download an azimuth app so you can maximize those rewards. planner.hellohelium.com/planner

So placing indoor miners at neighbors' houses that are not using the helium mobile app is going to get the least daily rewards? I switched my neighbor's wifi on his phone to the helium indoor wifi. I'll track the tokens since i just did this yesterday. What is considered data? what do they count for this data going thru the helium indoor wifi? and for the 100x locations how would the indoor miner work there, would they work the same as the outdoor. I'm currently waiting on the outdoor one's next shipment date at the end of the month as they stated. @@miningstacker I've been tracking numbers so I'll find out more as time goes on. For driving with the mobile app and $20 plan on cell phone - should we be leaving the Wi-Fi turned on or turned off? If i have 3 phones in the same car traveling for mapping - would they all do the same thing or would I need to go to more places. I've referred a few people so far and they all tell me some days they don't get any rewards and they travel a lot. @@XxCodkiller7Xx the indoor was pretty much next day, the outdoor took a while because there was a bug causing them to not on board correctly, but has been fixed and running smoothly. Would highly recommend helium geek app to see the status of the unit, in order to gain rewards need to pass the speed tests have valid heartbeats in atleast 12 hours of the day before the end of the epoch which for me is 8pm est. Helium geek makes it easy to see if it will meet the criteria to earn your proof of coverage reward for the day

It's a little bit more than just a wifi AP , has to have GPS and whatever else they need it to configure to provide the cell coverage, I'm sure they're making a profit and not a loss, but when this thing is 499 and makes about 23 USD/day in profit and pays itself back in about 3 weeks in a bear market, I couldn't care any less.

I guess it’s not for me. I put in my address and it is about 800 helium a day ($3) for the outdoor. At the price rate that is definitely not worth the $500.

Make sure to factor in the azimuth , which is the angle it's pointed at, can download an app to dictate , as that will make a drastic difference. There are lots of changes coming in the next few months to rewards , even if it does look good , I would honestly wait until everything is in place to see as it will be pretty different , benefiting those in city/urban areas . But yeah, for that amount , I probably wouldn't bother.

Should i get a cbrs radio or outdoor hotspot ?
@miningstacker
@miningstacker 7 ай бұрын
It's a tricky one just because so much is subject to change. HIP 101 can be a game changer as that HIP is proposed to shift more of the rewards from CBRS to wifi which is where most of the focus is going and that's a big reason I jumped on WiFi is just because, atleast currently , that's the direction they're focused on for now. Big problem is CBRS currently does not offload data so are not actually adding to the network currently, which is a reason for HIP 101. But if they do figure it out and are able to use CBRS effectively , the range and earning potential would be greater , so lots of changes coming. My thought process is that it seems like the focus is with wifi, cost of entry is cheaper with wifi , even though earnings are definitely better with CBRS currently, not sure if it will stay that way in the future, so for those reasons , I personally went with wifi.

Seems like I use to be able to connect to my own wifi network with my phone for free and make calls with hand off. If I got a FreedomFi phone and a $250 Helium Hotspot, I would then have to pay for FreedomFi every month to use my own network. Ha! No. If you own a Walmart, Sams Club, Costco, or a Mall, maybe it would be worth setting one up in the center. Otherwise, for people with just a house, no. Do the math. People paying for service are going to be paying you, and for $5/mo... after Helium takes their cut, that's enough to pay you jack. This guy from the map looks like he's in downtown Miami with high rises all around like Miami Vice. And he's only earning 3 bucks a day. That won't even dent his rent lol. Probably won't even pay for a bottle of water where he lives.

It can make sense at any level, but location is important and when you got in, is important. I have definitely done the math , and 5k usd later , the math has been mathing and the coins are still stacking. Eventually even if the rewards dwindle down to nothing , just for having full coverage on my entire property, not just inside, was 100% worth it, some people just hate helium and hate making money and that's ok also, to each their own.

do you just order and hook it up? can I keep my IOT miner still up?
@miningstacker
@miningstacker 7 ай бұрын
The indoor yes, it's plug in power, plug in Ethernet and youre off. Need to have fast Internet to pass the speedtests to get the most rewards . Outdoor is similar , but because it's an outdoor install , it is more involved finding where to put it and mounting it , and running your Ethernet, But yes, outdoor it's a poe Ethernet cable that goes in, set it up and it's good. And yes, won't interfere with iot miner, have my outdoor on the same pole where I have my iot antenna on, right underneath it. Can definitely have an indoor and outdoor with no penalty , but may get an overlapping coverage with multiple outdoor, but can supposedly currently have up to 3 outdoors facing in different directions, but wouldn't be surprised future hips penalizing more for overlapping coverage even if it currently works.
@Unboxedonyt
@Unboxedonyt 7 ай бұрын
@@miningstacker did you see about the HIP they are trying to pass to stop rewards to cbr antennas?
@miningstacker
@miningstacker 7 ай бұрын
Yes, hip 101, so they're not trying to stop rewards , but think the goal is to shift more of the rewards to wifi , atleast for now until they figure out what they're going to do with the CBRS radios as currently they will not be offloading data and won't really be providing coverage right now when the adoption is needed , so the idea is to shift the rewards to wifi who will be offloading data and providing real coverage to the network. If they can't figure the handoff issues they're having or have a deal with another network to use it, then may go beyond that, but it would have to be put to a vote. Even this one will actually have to pass, going to be interesting to see if it can pass as most of the voting power will be in the hands of those who have CBRS radios currently. That's a big reason my interest was in the wifi radios as that's where they are definitely pivoting towards.

Typically a few minutes , it will not be accurate for the next few months though as there are major changes going on with the helium improvement plans that are pivoting reward plans to more very densely populated urban/city areas. Going to be at least a few months until it's accurate again. There are three major Oracle changes one room affect, the next is sometimes early April and the last early May and about a month after that , it should be accurate.

@@con-rob the outdoor has much more reach/potential if in a good location because it can cover more area/hexes, the indoor will only cover the one hex. if you're only making about the same as the indoor , probably not a good fit. @@miningstacker Thank you. Is there a guide for where to point the outdoor? I was thinking of putting it on a slowly rotating pole that makes 5 rotations a day. Also, does azimuth at 0° mean pointed straight towards horizon, or pointed at ground?
@miningstacker
@miningstacker 5 ай бұрын
@@con-rob so you want to have it fixed and not moving at the angle, the azimuth is the direction its pointing in, can download an easy app to know direction. When you look at the planner , you're going to want to have it pointed in the direction where the most hexes are and the least obstructions to maximize the coverage as that's what the rewards would be based on. And that does have a huge impact, I have two outdoors , facing opposite directions, one gets twice as much as the other because more hexes/less obstructions in that direction. This next change next month will be the biggest in terms of rewards shifting . Mine will likely drop pretty drastically

My main one covers 667 hexes, did you use the planner? Have to use it to gauge optimal angle to point it to, can make a huge difference and to see if your location will even make sense. For example my other one facing the other direction covers about half as many hexes. Also your speed isn't up to par, you're not getting the full multiplier so your rewards get cut in half . They're supposed to be changing their speedtests servers as that's been an issue for many that have speeds that are more than capable , but not passing the 100mb down threshold. planner.hellohelium.com/planner
