I really enjoyed Tress of the Emerald Sea too. I need to read more of his books but I feel that I already read the best.

Yeah. I think if I had known they would get a wide release after only 10 days, I wouldn't have backed the kickstarter. I did the audiobook tier, so I didn't get the hardbacks which look awesome, but I don't really collect physical media. I liked 3 of the 4, just like you, but I could have just waited 10 days to listen to the audiobooks through my library for free, so I kind of feel like I wasted $60. Oh well. I understand it was an experiment for Sanderson and they didn't really know how big of a success the kickstarter would be and they obviously want to sell more books which is why they made it widely available so soon after.

I 100% agree, I regret backing it since I could've just waited a few days, especially since the books took way longer to ship 🤦‍♀️😂 it was definitely a cool idea and it's crazy he wrote 4 new books, but I started off more excited than I ended up being 😂

Lol the anime story you're thinking of for Yumi was Your Name, not One Piece. By the way I'm 100% with you on all of the opinions. I actually read a book though recently called Off to Be the Wizard which was about a modern guy teleporting back to midevil england and pretending to be a wizard, and it made me dislike Frugal Wizard even more because the book was phenomenal and hilarious and it made frugal wizard look like some cheap knock off, and it was written 10 years ago!! My feelings on Frugal Wizard have only gotten more sour as time has passed to the point that I genuinely don't know how Sando considered it fit for release...

By the way, Your Name is also INCREDIBLE. I watched it with my wife and we were both completely stunned when the credits rolled. Maybe the best anime and most beautiful animation I've ever seen in my entire life. Give it a shot!

🤦‍♀️ thank you for the correction! I totally forgot the name of the anime. Frugal Wizard Guide was probably the biggest let down for me, I was super excited for it😂. I do want to check out the book you mentioned because the idea seems super fun, it just wasn't done well in secret project. I definitely won't be rereading it 😂

I suppose that I set my expectations to "4 new books in one year... Yea!" I don't think I really disliked any of them. I do agree the quality varied story to story, but... He wrote 4 books! 🙃

Yes, its crazy how Sanderson wrote 4 new complete different and unique stories, I enjoyed getting to try them all but I definitely have favorites 😂
