These bug zappers work really well with mosquitos, just wave it around where the skeeters are flying.

Well, I bought mine at Goodwill yesterday and I paid $6 for a used one, think I got a bad deal. So, after trying to swat flies with this thing, I decided that just don't work, it's too bulky and hard, I'm sure it would probably break it. So, on my patio, where I leave out cat food, flies are always there. I left a small dish out, with some cat food residue to draw flies. I put a rubber band on the "On" switch, to keep the power on, and laid the flyswatter over the dish... I checked it out about 40 minutes later, and there are about 18 dead flies on it! So, I would re-engineer this thing to just be an electronic circle, instead of a paddle, that could be laid on a dish. That way, it would take up less space, and work on it's own, as it does a great job if set up properly. Now, there is the safety issue! This thing emits a High Voltage, that Zaps the flies. Leaving it on, and unattended, could injure animals and people. So, with that in mind, I would put a wire cage around the setup to keep any animals and people from getting shocked. As I was sitting here typing this response, I heard at least three more "Zaps" as it still out there killing flies, what a reliable tool! My advice, Don't use it as a fly swatter, it's too clumsy, do it my way.

you have to swat it at them so they will hit the inner grid. the outer grid isn't electrified

outer grid is negative charged, inner grid is positve.

The outer grid actually prevents mosquitoes from entering the dam thing. Sucky product. Buy a Zap It.

You don't swat. You smoothly sweep it through the air. Don't use it like a tennis racket. I've had one for years and it works great!

On some flies and insects, if you can shine a laser pointer on them long enough, you can then simply walk up to the fly, reach out, and pick him up off the wall. It seems to blind them and they just sit freeze!!
@davidgpo5 жыл бұрын
I'm going to try that. Thanks!
@lloydsnyder27384 жыл бұрын
I've killed many flies with mine. You just swing the swatter over and past the fly, it will take off and you catch it mid flight. You don't need to trap it.

"That's got to hurt!" Item 61351 seems to be a very good one, but is there a difference among different item numbers?
@DKrueger19946 жыл бұрын
Bigger bugs takes longer to kill, you be lucky if they get trapped between the outer and inner grids so that way they can be fried. Would be better if they electrify the outer grids so that way you don't wait for the bugs to get caught and trapped inside
@jackt61123 жыл бұрын
Take something flies like, put it in pan, lay the flyswatter on the the pan with a clamp to hold down the button and walk away.
@mohyminislam8586 жыл бұрын
this is much more effective against bees than flies. Plus, the outer grid isn't electrified. In my opinion, you should just get a regular flyswatter or create some sort of trap to use the swatter with

They have two types one with "D" and one with "A A" batteries, they work well with smaller bugs even flying Termite's but hard as hell with fly's.

the wasps that are more agressive have a thinner center and smaller abdomen so they look like they can fly at you and sting at the same time, unless they fly into your space, they are aggressive if you wander into their zone which they want to defend, for food or home, the other kids of wasps are actually quite cute and nice.

I found the larger the insect is, the more they are able to live through the electrocution. Heck one I stepped on after he was stunned with the swatter, and he still flew away, tho he was listing to one side as he flew away. Seemed kinda mad. Think Im going to tape the button down, and place in my back yard with a peanut in the middle of the grid, and watch the squirrels try and and get the peanut. Gotta be a way to have some fun with this thing. As a fly "swatter" its useless.
@davidgpo8 жыл бұрын
I had the same experience with a big fly, he was stunned and then came back to life and flew away. Have to fry them longer! Let me know how that squirrel trap works. I was wondering if one could set up a remote switch so I can set some corn on it and zap some crows?
@charlesmiller50788 жыл бұрын
I havent tried it yet, but Im going to tape the switch just to see how long it will last, probably for days. Very little drain on the battery's unless its zapping, You could always take a 3 volt Dc transformer and wire it in to where the battery goes, add a switch on your end of a long cable, and turn it off and on whenever you want to have a few laughs with the crows. I think the squirrels are just big enough to have to place there front feet on the racket to get the peanut, bet they will flip up into the air when shocked, maybe I should film it :). Heck Pita will probably come an arrest me, maybe I will just hit them with the racket also, should be fun. This could in the end be worth the 3.99, just in laughs....
@davidgpo8 жыл бұрын
I like that plan. Let us know how it works out!
@Rayblade457 жыл бұрын
Well it is actually it depends on the size if its a small fly it kills them quick but larger flys just gets stunned and have trouble flying afterwards.
