Hi Keith, great review here. Very straight to the point and detailed. Practical too since used on field! Never used these but it looks handy especially your shots were well made. Fascinating stuff buddy! I guess it’s quite an essential tool for macro photography? (haven’t looked into this genre myself)

I bought the cheapest rail on Amazon and hated it, so I built the _Zen Glider, Extreme Macro Slider Rail_ The carriage portion and the camera actually levitate, even while sliding, so no friction at all is even possible. Prototype works, now building a model out of Ebony and Snakewood and I got a linear actuator to motorize it.

Hello, mate! Thanks for the video! I just got a Neewer Pro 4 Way Macro Focusing Focus Rail Slider but I'm kinda confused. Maybe you can help me. Before getting this rail, the way I used to work photo stacking, was to manually adjust the focus setting on the lens until I got enough frames to fully stack the object, a watch, for example. However, with the rail, correct me if I'm wrong, there's no need to manually adjust the focus on the lens because the knobs are used to adjust the focus, correct? The thing is, now I don't know where to focus... I hope you can guide me. Thanks in advance!

Hey, awesome, you will get some great images with this one. so for focusing I always front focus so the object I’m focusing on is slightly out of focus, then as you move your knobs it will become into focus moving through the range to the back of the image. I really depends what you are focusing on and your Aperture as to how much you true the knob every time to get everything in focus. Hope that helps good luck 👍🏻

Hey, thanks for the comment, Yeah you need to let it settle, but it does settle in the same place also use a shutter release to minimise any further movement. With higher magnification any small movement really shows

con la possibiltà di fare bracketin in camera non è indispensabile,ho anche io questo oggetto,solo un peso addizionale da portarsi dietro e una complicazione nella gestione con più tempo impiegato Trovo più interessante l uso di un flash anulare a differenza di tantissimi che per la macro usano impalcature scomodissime

Grazie per il commento, sono d'accordo che ci sono molti altri strumenti per un fotografo macro e sì, è piuttosto pesante. Se ti piacciono le immagini impilabili, questo è un buon strumento da usare
