I have this watch along with many other omegas. Prob my favorite besides my speedy moonwatch. I also have a submariner and sea dweller, I can honestly say I prefer the smpc over my sub. I like the oyster bracelet more, but the case, dial and overall head of the smpc is better imo. I rarely wear my sub anymore

Audiman77 is it a subc or preceramic?

10:10 The subc man. I love the watch. But the twisted lugs and overall finish of the smpc just seem a little more well refined imo

Absolutely beautiful watch. Imho the weight distribution of the head to bracelet ratio, wears much more balanced on my SMP 300 - and better then my sub. The lack of ARC on rolex is regularly a noticeable issue . The bezel action is better on Sub but never really used. SMP is really more versatile and formal - but subs got that bad ass case that gives it a great tooly look. Both are fantastic. But any watch guy should be very happy with a SMP its a fantastic all purpose - can do everything piece that really is no compromise is any meaningful way. Very nice discussion guys.

This is the easily best looking Seamaster Pro they've made, including the new (2019) models. The blue is okay, but black wins and the wavy dial versions look cheap. That is clean, classic Seamaster right there. Looks better than any Submariner too, especially the new ones with the ridiculous lugs. Don't get me wrong, Subs are great, they're not twice as good as this but they have such strong aftermarket value people are willing to pay twice as much for the same quality (and better bracelets).

Own this same watch; love it. I like it more than my Sinn U1 and Seiko MM300... which is saying a lot.

Just got one! First «real» watch. Love the deep black and the bezel changing between slate grey and black

One of my favorite dive watches of all time. So the speedy bracelet will fit right on it?

Really nice review, shame omega didint change bracelet style on the new ones and keep the HE valve the same as this. My biggest worry is smudges all over the face i bet its a pitta eh.

Great review man, I like the new Seamsters, I'd probably go blue dial if I got one

The blue dial is really dynamic ranging from light blue to complete black and that is why I chose it as well!

Amazing video you can buy the micro adjustment in omega boutique for $120 bid difference with the micro adjustment the planet ocean works perfect I buy for my Seamaster

Danny Chico got one on my SMPc and now I won’t wear a watch without an adjustable clasp. I’m that spoiled by it. Worth every penny!

what are the advantage of the Liquidmetal inserts in the ceramic bezel?

Great review, Adam! I agree with you: the black is more becoming to my eye than the iconic blue. I have three issues with the watch and don't know if I can look past them to end up with one in my collection: 1. The scalloped bezel -- a known slippery eel to deal with. 2. The skeleton hands. Yeah, I know they are unique but I think they compromise legibility. I might be wrong about that if I had the chance for an extended use of the watch. 3. As nice as the bracelet is, it still appears dated to my eye and makes the watch look like something an old man would wear (and before anyone gets insulted, I'm dangerously close to being an old man myself). To me, the price (which has been steadily rising on the gray market over the past year) positions it as a competitor to the Tudor Black Bay, rather than the much more expensive Submariner. As much a fan of Omega as I am, I think I would lean towards the Tudor as the better choice.

Thanks for the review. I like the watch a lot, I'm less enamored with the busy bracelet. I would prefer H-links.
@mandinigunasekara93125 жыл бұрын
Jeffrey McMahon This bracelet is the nearest thing to a leather strap (or the rolex Jubilee) as far as wearing comfort is considered. The unique curved shape and the small five links make it wrap around the wrist like a strip of cloth. Also it makes all the scratches virtualy unnoticeable, in stark contrast to the H links that are common in other watches. The clasp however is a scratch magnet, and you have no choice but learn to live with it. I have had the blue lacquer dial model since 2012, and it has aged beautifully. I won't exchange it for even five new ones ! I have a lot of respect for the iconic Rolex Submariner. But this is without any doubt a better watch. This is probably the best watch that Omega ever made. The 2018 model is even more advanced. But my prediction is that this lacquer dial model without waves will be a much sought after classic many years later.

i dont own a sub, but do have a Rolex Explorer 1 MK2 and the Seamaster 300m in blue. I love both watches. my main disappointment with the seamaster is the bracelet. i like an oyster style better. i do love the deep BLUE dial and the hands have really grown on me also. the lume is sharp. i bought the explorer 1 rather than the sub as i have more than enough dive watches. the explorer really flies under the radar as a rolex. great watch.

Nice quality watch, the Sub is not worth twice the price, only problem is the hands and scalloped bezel are ugly.

The orignial bracelet clasp is prone to wear. Be interesting to see how the new one stands up. I have the previous model coaxial, (Casino Royale) and the clasp isn't positive now at all when you close it.

Jack Thursby order the new adjustable clasp from Omega. $111 dollars and it wear nice, adjustable, and won’t have to worry if it’ll open on you.

I own the blue version of this watch, and I wish I would have bought a Tudor Pelagos instead. It looks nice and all but I think it's more man jewelry than an actual tool watch.
@MrMatt19236 жыл бұрын
MyPantsAreOhSoFancy it’s all man jewelry, unless you’re planning on actually diving with the watch. I like the Tudor’s but I feel if I bought one I’d just regret not getting the Rolex.
@1Channel2Watch6 жыл бұрын
I was in the same boat but later on I found out that Tudor Pelagos is made out of Ti grade 1 or 2 which is way too soft for a tool watch. It has the looks but it does not have the hardness...

Had it. Too shiny. Lack of bracelet taper bothered me. Rhodium plating on the dial furniture alternated between looking brilliant and flat depending on the lighting. Sold it for a 14060M two-liner and never looked back.

Wearing the Sub-C right now and I personally think it kicks the Seamaster's ass and I've handled both watches. Is it worth over 2x the price? Up to the person I guess. Personally, I'd get the original Bond wave dial if I were ever to get a Seamaster.

Omega can't compete with Rolex's end link fit. You can see a large gap between the lugs and end link on that SMP.

Why have a date window on a dive watch? What is the average dive time? Who dives at 11:40pm and needs to know when the date changed? Pointless addition to tool watches.

Like you actually buy multiple thousand dollar watches for the sole purpose of diving with them!
