Got mine about the same time and I am enjoying it and like to connect to the repeaters. This is a great starter GMRS radio. If after you get this you to get a mobile more power then you can get into that. I found that my setup came with a longer antenna that is NOT a Nagoya and I went and got a Nagoya to get some additional gain because in SE Texas Piney woods the trees hurt the range.

Can you use FRS channels with this GMRS radio?
@SwordslingerCustomHolsters Жыл бұрын
Yes you can.
@abysspegasusgaming Жыл бұрын
Yes since GMRS shares frequencies with FRS radios (meaning you can talk to someone on FRS), however, you need a GMRS license from the FCC to transmit from a GMRS radio (one time payment of $35 for 10 years license). Additionally, GMRS radios transmit at higher power than what FRS radios do.

Researching radios for general use- Emergency, “SHTF”, off-roading, etc. In torn on FRS vs a GMRS like this.. which would you recommend? Not to be paranoid but wouldn’t there be a risk in not being able to renew a GMRS license in the event of grid failure, rendering it useless? Also wish this one had AA battery as a backup option
