It gets up to speed faster because the wheels are smaller. Smaller wheels = More acceleration Bigger wheels = More top speed

The speed is determined by the RPM of the drive roller. Probably 6-7k RPM x ~1-1/8"

@@friendlyfire01 No. The maximum revolution of the engines crank never changes, however, the rollout of different diameter rollers changes speed. Smaller roller: lower speed, more torque Big roller: higher speed, less torque

Lol what you just suggested is a gearing change, all I said was the engine speed and the roller diameter determine your ground speed and the tire size has zero to do with it. Or, you could have a 12" wheel and a 24" wheel driven by the same roller and engine and they would go the same speed theoretically speaking.

You have to know what to buy from bikeberry. They sell a lot of good stuff, they also sell a lot of garbage. Their friction drive kit comes with a nice motor the rest of the kit is garbage. Their other four stroke it is pretty good to minus the transmission is no good. But if you're looking for a friction drive live fast motors makes the best one.

I got a 49cc 4 stroke husenvin chinnese motor was wondering if I could jus order a friction drive roller kit with that , I already have the throttle cable and all that the muffler too alsondp you pedal from a start like ya saying probably up a hill as well

I forgot to mention another con in my video When it’s wet outside you cannot ride these in the wet.It causes the metal wheel to slide and won’t catch the tire

How would you compare the starting torque of a smooth tire compared to a knobby tire? I've got on-road/off-road tires and was wanting one of these kits. As I sometimes go off-road, torque is more important than speed in my case.

autonomous2010 From my use with these kits I’ve found more torque in smoother tires because there’s more surface area to catch the motors wheel compared to a knobby tire. I’ll make a video soon but I’ve turned this bike into a dual sport bike you could say and works decent in dirt roads.

autonomous2010 That’s sound pretty cool. Another thing I would suggest is if it’s for off reading specifically maybe try a two stroke on a mountainbike or custom build a beach cruiser frame with mtb parts so you can fit a 4 stroke engine in it

is there a muffler? how's the noise on that engine compared to a sprocket drive 4 stroke? do you think that would work on narrow tires like 700x35c?

there is no muffler. However, it is very quiet in my opinion. I rode a bike with this kit for around 6 months and it doesn't even turn heads because of how quiet it is. If you're looking for quiet and want to put it on a 700c tire I'd recommend bike berry's 38cc 4 stroke kit.

CONNIE HAWKINS And the muffler isn’t a typical pipe it’s a box that’s a little bigger than your hand. I unbolted it before to see how muffled it makes it and it’s does get noticeably louder without it

You should put it on a 26 inch cruiser

26 inch cruisers are the easiest bikes to work with. But I’ve found out they work on almost all wheel sizes except for 29. Bike I’m using here is a 20 inch and works perfectly fine.
