I got my unit today, I was pretty skeptical about this working, but after an hour, the ball was soaked with oil, there was even enough oil in the bottom container, that you could actually pour it out, so far a thumbs up.

Awesome man! I somehow managed to lose the entire unit and im mad about it haha. Good thing the dishwasher trick or hot water still works but I'd much rather have the unit it's awesome!

I just bought this. Do you have to keep doing this until no oil on the ball. after 1 hour I wiped ball down and tried again for another half hour just to see and more oil on the ball.

I recommend 3 hours wipe with a towel and alcohol every hour

I *do not* recommend applying straight rubbing alcohol to the ball immediately after heating. The temperature at which rubbing alcohol begins to evaporate is much lower than water, bringing down the temperature of the ball at a faster rate. Microfissures can develop in the coverstock, leading to visible cracks and splits. Use an approved bowling ball cleaning solution instead. If you have a newer ball with a hybrid coverstock, you can simply wipe off the excess oil from the surface with a microfiber towel, since the oil absorption is going to be lower for those balls compared to a resin or urethane.

I appreciated the comment but honestly i haven't ever had a ball crack and I've been doing this for 10 years. I have also used the dishwasher method, that works as well.

Meh. Rubbing alcohol is fine. If you’re really worried about the temp of the ball dropping due to evaporation (it almost certainly isn’t a problem, the specific heat capacity of isopropanol is considerably lower than say.... water), you can spray the alcohol on a rag and wipe the oil down with the damp rag. That thin layer of alcohol will have basically no affect on temperature when it dries.
