Side pockets, the lead designer said, Camera lens cap while you are shooting... for me, I put my lens cap in my back pocket of my pants/shorts and end up losing it, so it's a plan for me. Past that, if you are traveling, brochures, area map, tissues, pens, gum packet, notepad, tether a flashlight...imagination run wild lol

Your review is great. I ordered the bag and sent it back. I want a bag that I can loop easily over a roller bag suitcase when I travel. The belt is supposed to do that but I found it hard to get that back out and back in. You have a lot of stuff in your bag. I think the power brick is supposed to go in the main compartment. I think the bag is as big as Peak describes. You just need more room.

Nice review. The one thing you didn't mention or show was how much equipment you could get into the bag comfortably.

Yes, I would have liked to of seen actual cameras and lenses in the bag. Otherwise, very detailed review and helpful.

Hi and Thanks for the great review! I've been a long time user of Think Tank messenger bags (Retrospective series - I have the 5 and 7) and noticed that you use Think Tank's Pixel Pocket Rocket memory card wallets so I thought I'd ask how you compare the Retrospective with the PD Everyday Messenger (if you have a Retrospective). My main concern with the Everyday Messenger is its internal size (what fits vs the Retro 7) and if its much bigger externally than the Retro 7. With my current gear, I lately find that my Retro 7 is not comfortable on long walks (feels heavy)... Lately I've been finding many flaws with Think Tank Retrospective (or its maybe the voice inside me that uses that as an excuse to buy an Everyday Messenger :D ) Lastly, regarding the issue you mention in the video with the front pocket being too small, I'd like to point that personally I prefer it that way and its one of the flaws I find with Retrospective whose front pocket being large and expandable causes it to sag (thus look ugly and make the bag much bigger that it is and less stylish) when you have stuff inside ;)

bought one today, put my gear in it and threw it over my shoulder. and while adjusting the strap the hook on the backside got loose and the bag hit the ground. shame on the designers from peak design. i'm returning this peace of junk...

Everything from Peak Design is mostly for fashionistas in photography. For the real people that are actually photographers, they are using other stuff, or no dedicated camera bag at all. The majority of camera bags are poorly designed and this is no exception and caters mostly for the fashion-conscious.

What bag would you recommend then besides this bag designed with the help of photographers and seemingly very, very useful for photographers who shoot on location? In my 9 years as a professional photographer I have never met another photographer from amateur to pro who did not use a dedicated camera bag to protect and carry their $500, $5000+ photo gear. I am planning on buying the 15 Everyday Messenger V2 very soon and have yet to see a bag even close to this functional.
