I watched this video as my V2 Messenger arrives tomorrow or the day after and wanted more details on whats coming ... At first I thought I was going to dislike the presenter, and judging from the comments, many did. But he soon had me smiling and indeed laughing. He is a marketing guy, not a stand up comic ! I think he did a good job and I enjoyed the video.

V2 has mostly positives but a few negatives. Pros. Zipped side pockets (although still pretty small) Rounded top which will look cleaner when fully packed out. External carry loops is a big plus. V2 looks far more symmetrical. V1 had summitry quality control issues. Cons. No decent pockets on the outside of the bag. I need a quick access external zip that's bigger than the side pockets. Having the option of having the laptop accessable from a zip was a plus in the v1. The side sternam strap is far superior in V1. V1 also came with a waist belt. Overall V2 and V1 are about the same. Ps.. I liked the host. Keep it up man.

I owned a 13' Messenger v1.5 and loved it. When I first saw the v2 I thought many of the changes were bad, but then I got one and used it and it felt pretty amazing. There is quite some beauty in the simplification that I couldn't understand before using it. I don't really think it's an upgrade over the v1.5, but it's a different style that may be better to some and worse to others.

Love my V1 bag but it has one fatal flaw as my EDC work bag-carrying coffee/water. Basically, they fit great inside, but if/when you have a leak, the bag turns into a fishbowl. Modular bottle holder that fits on the capture-clip mount strap?

I had been a user of the messenger 13 v1 and I really liked it. For v2, I see there is a bunch of improvement. But the removal of quick access zipper on the top is a deal breaker for me. It is definitely inconvenient if you need to open the whole flap everytime when you need to access to the main compartment.

I have the V1, it’s ok. I bought mine to replace my old Timbuk2 bag. Sometimes I have to lug a lot of files home for review and the PD bag just doesn’t like to expand like my T2 did. I have only used it as a camera bag once. Meh... just my .02 My other PD bags are phenomenal! Cheers Doc

6:58 "one-handed access" but have to use the other hand to hold the flap... I know you guys are proud of your mag-latch and indeed it's pretty cool, it's actually not convenient. I've used a v1 and this was very frustrating, like when you change lenses in the bag with two hands, the flap keeps trying to fall down, and since it's pretty stiff, you can't exactly entirely fold it back against your body.

Please please please, revise the V.2 line up. They are big disappointments to your existing users. If you guys start taking features unnecessarily off your existing products, they become an instant downgrade. To repeat my comment from the other video on the EDM: - You guys have removed the top zipper access? Why is this so? It has been very useful for me (and definitely others), especially when the bag it on the floor and I simply want to get something without having to lift the whole bag. It's also good for getting the phone in the small top pocket inside, which is seemingly now gone too because... - because the laptop compartment has been moved to inside the bag. If I fit a lot of gears in here, I might have to dig the laptop out. I prefer the laptop being on the outside more. Much more of an easy grab both at the airport and in daily life. - The front panel access looks really cramped with those zippers. no longer running way to the edges like the previous version. You can hardly show us the inside in the video here. - Why is the tripod slot on the top panel of the main flap gone? Just because you have the loops at the bottom of the bag doesn't mean you have to remove a fully functional feature from the old bag. - As much as I understand that we're going for the clean look, I think it is too clean. The old one has some decorating 'stitch-like lines' running on the top of the flap (the main opening access) and the Maglatch runs down towards the bottom of the bag. There are some elements for me to see and the contrasting color accents (e.g. black/red) are eye-catching. Now I feel that the bag is just swelling, generic and bland. They look like pillows rather than a bag. I was hoping for things like... - Better theft-proof/cut-proof system (many of us are carrying gears after all) - More hidden pockets - Better way to carry a water bottle or umbrella. - More variety of dividers to accommodate non-photography gears like external drives, smaller items, documents...etc. I'm a big fan of the company for many things, but now this is disheartening :(

​@@SimonPun I think the weight loss has to do more with the new recycled materials they are using on the new version. That's a good thing but definitely doesn't justify the omission and downgrade of existing features (like half of what made their bags so successful in the first place).

Love this. I ended up scoring a v1 10l for $50 at my local shop. When comparing the two versions, it was a no-brainer to go with the first revision.

One thing that you do not mention is how hard it is to get the serial number hidden in the bag. Yes it is in the side pocket but it is incredibly small and hard to get to. I love the bag and the quality. The registration experience was a negative on an otherwise positive experience

A big flaw design is the cover that opens to the body. When you want to change a lens on camera the cover is getting down over the opening.

Gotta take issue with the "single-handed access" around 7:02 where you are Cleary using two hands: one to hold the bag open and one to grab the camera. V1 did not need to be held open like V2 does. Really does look like V1 was objectively a better bag. Not sure why so many features were cut out of the flagship product.

Let me start by asking everybody to stay kind and respectful towards the presenter. Even if you don‘t like the style, you still can express that respectfully, right? When it comes to the bag: I really tried to love it and ordered one. However, a couple of things were so annoying that I had to send it back: - No matter how I load the bag, it never stands stable on the floor. It always falls either on its back or to the front. This is annoying as f*** - Keeping the lid open while you‘re changing lenses makes you want to have third hand just to keep the lid out of the way. - The zippered pockets are ridiculously small; not very versatile IMHO. - When I attach Capture, the lid always gets in the way when I attach and remove the camera. So much so that I need to use both hands, which slows down things unnecessarily. For me, the search for the optimal camera bag continues...

I’m going to agree with a lot of the commenters. Just present the bag’s features and stop with the awful attempts at humor and the long pauses trying to make them funnier. Only got through one third of the video. Too bad, I’m actually looking for a good messenger or sling bag and trying to decide. I won’t be choosing Peak Design, I’ll look elsewhere.

@PeakDesign you ruined the product by making these bad jokes. Also, the product needs more displaying, why not film into the bag up close when showing a stretch pocket. Since your making these for camara focused ones. Next, why not make a poll what customers want to see next? Tote e.g. seems zu be very forced just to make more products. Would love to see an ash color Duffel, since I'm unable to "make a Collection" with the Backpack, Camara Cube, Tech Pouch and Duffel in the Trunk of the RS6 nobody would assume thats the same Brand. Everyone likes the bags, but no ones sees brand continutiy.Why dont you guys have the Brown leather with light Blue stiching on all products. (or a "Peak in some form) How sick would a camera cube look in Ash or brown, how stylish it wood look to carry things in theese not raw Black - like everybody else in the market! Last why not include something like a big Stretch Pocket on the insinde, so that water bottles can get in their, without the risk of spilling. My Everydatransporttransporting one Small map with paper? - Since a plan, a scatch, a document your handing over, and so much more isn't digital?

V2 looks better but you've left out the key USP. Also innovation just isn't there. Just make a Vid next time whats new, whats USP and what has gone. Quicker, better, less risk of the presenter not being accepted by the audience. And leave the desk, show products out and about. Active lifestyle at Peakdesign? I can't see it, sadly. Have a lot of your stuff, but starting to watch elsewhere like douchebags since some things cost the same with better marketing better solutions and all around better presentation and service. Get V3 out as quick as possible learn the market instead of doing products for your needs in the SF area.
