I don't usually do kits but this one caught my eye and I ordered the Sandalwood version. I'm very much enjoying making it. Thanks for the tip of blocking each square before assembly, which makes a lot of sense given its complexity and my lack of blocking space.

I bought the kit. I got mine on sale and paid $48. It's great. They sent Priemere Anti Piling DK yarn. I just started last night. I love it. I'm glad i saw this now before I got too far. I thought about doing each step for all motifs at once vs making individual motiefs. I'm glad to know keep it all one step at a time.

I have the Eastern Jewels kit; however, my first go at this pattern was in blues, pink and linen to match a nursery. The new, first time mom loved it. I used Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn and learned so much for my next go 'round. I, also, completed one motif before beginning the assembly line production. There are so many ends to weave in, that somewhere along the way I decided it wasn't too bad and now I rather enjoy weaving in ends. There is a FB group for this specific pattern which is overflowing with tips and hints and photos. I spent quite a bit of time perusing the files, photos and comments before I dove in. The group is extremely helpful and I highly recommend it. Love this pattern and it is stunning in any color. Thanks for the review. I was excited to see it in your playlist. - Paula

I love this pattern too. I have it in blues/grays & the bright pastel colorway from them gal in Italy. The names escapes me. Working on both of them. I'd say they are intermediate/advanced as the pattern reading is difficult with only a few pictures. One really has to know how to crochet.

@@tamelahall9389 Which one were you disappointed with?
@tamelahall9389

It was a 100% cotton. I should clarify that I am not disappointed in the company of my choice in the yarn. I love pima cotton and I ordered one that wasn't pima hoping it would be nice because the colors are so pretty. Unfortunately it feels like the peaches and cream cotton you make dish rags from.

Thanks so much for your video. I bought this kit in two color ways and I am just getting started. I am attempting to my gauge swatch now but so far I have had to go down two sizes. I didn’t think I was a loose crocheter but I must be. What size hooks did you end up using?

Hi. Thanks for your reply. I did go down to the smallest hooks since you stressed the gauge in your review. I have another question for you , if you don’t mind, did you single crochet the blocks together from the back or sew them together?

Certainly amigurumi in the past year. I have made 3 dolls (2 girls and 1 boy), goats , cats, pigs, sheep, goldfish, bees, mice, and a most excellent moose named Montgomery. I really enjoy baby clothes, bonnets and booties. And of course, lovely afghans in complex patterns.

@@violetnewby Wow! I have yet to try amigurumi...Is Montgomery large? It sounds like you do a lot of crocheting!
@violetnewby

I crochet every day! I have been crocheting for 47 years! The challenge is my arthritis. It is worsening. I am making a collection of things for my (future) great grandchildren. I don't know how my hands will be later. Montgomery is 17" tall and his antlers have a span of 14". He is my biggest. My dolls are between 8 and 13" tall. After discovering amigurumi in February 2020, I began making a collection. I now have over 45 toys. Plus two full baby layettes, too. I used my quarantine time to make a legacy of my work for my grands.

@@violetnewby Holy Moly! That is awesome! What a gift your skill has been for your family! I'm sorry to hear about your arthritis. I started using Collagen Hydrolysate powder...it did help...I don't know if you've tried it. Well, you are certainly inspiring me to start doing some amigurumi!
