I'm very impressed with this grinder. Beautiful and very liitle clumbing plus great adjustment of the grind setting. The stiff grind adjustment on Mazzers are a big con in my opinion. Also if you have the manual dosing on the Mazzer it gets stiff and hard to control after some use in commercial setting.

Hi Todd and Marc, I notice that the Profitec 64 and the ECM 64 are very similar in design if not sharing the same parts. These are comming out of the same factory aren't they? Actually what is the deal with ECM and Profitec are they one in the same business because there are too many similarities across their product range. Love to hear your thoughts. Thanks.
@Wholelattelovepage7 жыл бұрын
Hi WR, It's no secret that ECM and Profitec are related companies. ECM tends to have machines and grinders with more detail given to the finishing of casework and other externals. So they are typically a little more expensive than a similar profitec product. Grinders from both brands are manufactured in Germany. Espresso machines from both are manufactured in Italy with the exception of Pro 800 which is made in Germany.

Also, any thoughts of a maintenance video or T64? All the steps for taking it apart to clean and maintain?
@Wholelattelovepage5 жыл бұрын
Hi DW, Here's a link to our support wiki for the T64. A video there showing the cleaning and calibration process on a Mazzer grinder. Process is similar on the T64. Only real difference is removing the worm gear on the T64. Also be extra vigilant cleaning the threads of any coffee residue prior to turning the burr adjustment collar back in after cleaning. And, be careful when turning back in to avoid cross-threading. Never force the turn in. If you get any resistance back out and re-clean the threads (a pin head works well). Marc

Marc, How would you compare Mazzer Mini E type A to Profitec T64. If you had to choose, which grinder are you bringing home? I've asked you on a couple of your reviews because I have decided on the two I just can't seem to choose between the two
@Wholelattelovepage5 жыл бұрын
Hi DW, I'd go with the Profitec Pro T64. Reasons: Mazzer 250w vs. 450w in the T64, love the worm gear grind size adjust on T64, I dislike adjusting grind size on Mazzer grinders. The fine threads in Mazzer grinders are very open to the grinding chamber. They get gummed up with coffee dust/oils and size adjustment gets stiff and jumpy. I don't like how the top burr on many Mazzer grinders ride on 3 springs which also collect coffee gunk. The T64 has an O-ring in the neck which does a good job of keeping gunk out of the threads. Hope that helps! Marc

Any tips minimizing wasted coffee beans when dialing in a new bag? The manual says the machine has to be running when making adjustments and I end up wasting almost 1/3 pound when switching to a new bean brand to find the right grind.
@Wholelattelovepage6 жыл бұрын
Hi Vernon, Thanks for the question. A couple tips... With a new coffee grind and pull a shot with your last used grind setting. If too fast adjust grind a little finer, too slow adjust a little coarser. You can usually make small adjustments to grind size without the grinder running. Totally okay to make the grind coarser as much as desired without running the grinder. When going finer only make very small adjustments. If adjusting finer without grinder running large adjustments can cause the beans left between the burrs to lock them up. If that happens stop the grinder and adjust coarser until burrs spin. Hope that helps! Marc
@raidensix6 жыл бұрын
I Thanks! I'll keep that in mind on the next bean switch. Going from Lavazza Super Crema to Illy required going much coarser. From the Illy to Lavazza Gran Crema required going finer. I'll be trying Maromas Orphea next.
@daniely93108 жыл бұрын
hey mark & Todd can i know do we still need to dial in if we take out the upper burrs for cleaning? can you guys make a video on the maintenance of it? Thanks!
@Wholelattelovepage8 жыл бұрын
Hi Daniel, Yes you will need to dial-in after removing burrs. Most people will be constantly adjusting grind size as it's perhaps the most important variable in espresso. A grind size that works for one coffee may not be the best for another. Even when using the same coffee you'll probably adjust the grind as the coffee ages. You might also adjust the grind in combination with changing the coffee dose weight. Maintenance of grinders is fairly straight forward. Get the top burr out and give it a good brushing out with a stiff brush. You can vacuum out the grinding chamber. Pay special attention to the threads of the top burr collar. Grinds collecting in them can make grind adjustment difficult. There are products like Grindz which can do the cleaning without removing the burrs: www.wholelattelove.com/products/urnex-grindz-grinder-cleaner

So how about the noise level on the 64? currently I have a Bartza Vario...is the 64 quieter?
@Wholelattelovepage8 жыл бұрын
Hi Jim, Great question! So I got out the dB meter and tested them both. the T64 registered 83dB at ear level and the Vario was 89dB. Beyond dB the T64 has a lower pitched note when grinding.

I have see both the profitec pro 800 and bezzera strega. The looks of the profitec is better then by the bezzera in mine opinion. Just had hoped that you could tell me if it was the money worth with the marterials and inside the machineparts they used. Thx a lot for your response.

ECM titan 64 is considerably more expensive compared to profitec t64. They seem very similar in spec, what is the difference? Can you justify the price difference?
@Wholelattelovepage3 жыл бұрын
Hi John, Thanks for the question. Key differences: The Titan has titanium coated burrs and overall finer finishing. Notice the grind size adjustment ring is metal on the titan and plastic on the PT64. Marc
@Tanax137 жыл бұрын
How does this compare to the ECM V-Titan 64? ECM is like 250$ more expensive than the Profitec here in Sweden.
@Wholelattelovepage7 жыл бұрын
Hi T, mechanically, the grinders are very similar both with 450watt motors, 64mm burrs, worm gear grind size adjustment and timer displays resembling PID display. Notable difference is titanium burrs in Titan vs. stainless steel in Pro T64. Titan is about 20% heavier. Hard to say one would grind better than the other - one would think titanium burrs would last longer but no hard data to back that up and the stainless burrs in T64 should be good for near 1,000 kg of beans before replacement. Think it comes down to aesthetics, Titan has mirror finish and more "classic" look while the T64 has some "plastic" behind the side panels. One other big difference... Bump start the Titan with portafilter while T64 has buttons on top deck to start grinding. Surprised on the price difference in Sweden. Currently same price on both here in US although the T64 is on sale at the moment for $125 US off list.

Are you losing the grind setting on this Pro T64 when you remove and clean the burrs?
@Wholelattelovepage5 жыл бұрын
Hi kwk1, Yes you do. There is a workaround so you don't have to. Grind all the beans out. Then make a mark with your current grind setting on the adjustment collar. Turn the grinder on and adjust to finer setting until you just hear the burrs touch. Note how far you turned to get the burrs to touch. You can then take the top burr off by turning out to coarser. When you reassemble after cleaning turn the grinder on and turn to finer until the burrs just touch. Then turn back the same amount noted prior to disassembly. This technique works with any grinder which loses grind setting on disassembly. Marc

how does this compare with the ECM S64?
@Wholelattelovepage7 жыл бұрын
Hi Alex, It's very similar to the ECM. Same motor and burrs. Differences are the dosing funnel on the Profitec, portafilter activated grind start on the ECM and case finish. The dosing funnel on the Profitec may give a little fluffier and more even distribution of grinds into the PF.

would you say T64 is better than rocket fausto? i saw both reviews and concluded fausto is noiser, slower and more expensive than T64. and what about the extremes of T64? i know it can go turkish on fine side.. what about coarse extreme? how coarse can it go and is it consistent at that?
@Wholelattelovepage7 жыл бұрын
Hi UH, I think the Fausto and T64 are comparable. T64 has a couple of advantages spec wise. IMO the Fausto is prettier and has a more robust case. I'll also offer my opinion on how it is to use each grinder in the real world. As to specs... T64 has a 450w motor vs. 245w in the Fausto. Burrs are very similar T64 rated at 1400rpm, Fausto is 1650rpm. In my personal use I found grind size adjustment was a little trickier on the Fausto. I was able to make smaller/finer changes more easily on the T64 with the worm gear adjustment. Both use a dosing funnel. It's easy to remove the cover on the funnel on the T64. Doing the same on the Fausto requires removing a couple screws. The portafilter cradle on the Fausto allows for hands free grinding. On the T64 you must hold the portafilter when grinding. I can't give a solid opinion on the consistency of coarse grinding on either as I've only used these for espresso grinding. Hope that helps.

Hi Marc, Would this grinder work well for single dosing?
@Wholelattelovepage6 жыл бұрын
Hi Keagan, It's possible but it's not what I would consider a low retention grinder. Depending on grind size and other factors like ambient humidity and beans retention is about 2 grams. Depends on how particular you are. Here's a a video featuring some grinders with retention below 1g: kzbin.info/www/bejne/lWa9n6WXi9iSba8

Do the burrs match the size of mazzer super jolly burrs? Has anyone tried the ssp red burr set in this grinder?

Hi Corey, Thanks for the question. We have not tried The SSP burrs in this grinder. Does not mean they will not work - but I'm not saying they will either. Due to in-house staffing limitations (virus) I'm unable to check for compatibility at the moment. I have put in a request with our product specialist for information. If in the US give our tech support pros a call at 585-924-7170 and they should have an answer soon.

if you had t choose between a profitec t64 or the ceado37s wich one you take and why
@Wholelattelovepage8 жыл бұрын
+Elly Manders Hi Elly, If space is not a concern I'd go with the E37S. It's a full on commercial grinder with massive 83mm burrs compared to 64mm on the Profitec. Both use a stainless flat burr set. Only consideration might be if you have a Profitec machine and want a grinder that looks nice sitting next to it or have limited space. The T64 is styled to match with Profitec machines. Personally I prefer the controls mounted in a position that's easy to see like on the Ceado. Adjusting the timing on the T64 is more cumbersome with the PID look display mounted low and facing forward. Here's a link to a side by side spec comparison of the T64 and E37S: www.wholelattelove.com/product_comparisons/show?products[]=profitec-pro-t64-grinder&products[]=ceado-e37s-electronic-coffee-grinder

+Whole Latte Love thx a lot for the link. the space is not the problem . I have seen and hear the Ceado37s its really a quiet machine hardly hear it. As machine I consider a lever machine. My choice goes between a bezzera strega or the profitec pro 800. Only the price difference between the 2 of them is a lot 1150$. I have doubts if that is worth the money.
@Wholelattelovepage8 жыл бұрын
Happy to help. I've used the Strega but not the Pro 800. In general we have found that Profitec machines have a higher build and finish quality. But, can't say for sure if that's the case with the 800.

I am really disappointed in this grinder. It's truly inconsistent. I hired an expert to come to my house to see if it was me or the grinder. I gave him my grinder for two days and he told me that he was SHOCKED by how unreliable the grinder is. He said he could only pull 2 shots until it needed to be readjusted. He said that he has never used a grinder that required so many adjustments on a regular basis. He also said he has NEVER had to waste so much coffee over his time with it. He went through 2kg in just 2 days and only had a few good shots. Sorry, but I am just being honest.

I seem to have the very same issue: WITHOUT ANY adjustments to the grinder I get from 11 g to 15 g.....! This is ridiculous for a $1,000 grinder, pretty design but poorly executed. I will try to return it.

Same issue here. Have tried all different settings, Im getting way too inconsistent results. Also, if I dont change the grind setting, nor the timer, I might get 1.5 to 2g less that the previous dose! I have wasted so much coffee as well. I thought it was the beans. Changed them. Same issue.
