It measures Amps down to three places...but no further...you can measure 1mA...but not part of a mA as it has no mA or uA selection.

Yup...quite a few folks have been caught out by the Fluke 11x series and not realised they are limited in terms of electronics use. A really nice meter (about $55-65) for bench electronics is the UNI-T UT61E..but not good for high energy work.

mV range on 115 is DC+AC coupled, and pushing the secondary button switches it to DC only:) It is a bit odd, but if you look at the symbol in white marking above the mV sign, you will see straight line on top of curly line, indicating DC and AC. Still lot more intuitive than mV DC range on 287 that is also AC+DC coupled... And I got TL75 leads as standard with my 115, not the silicone TL71.

How come you can't zero out the ohm reading? Sometimes mine reads a lot higher than 0.1 ohms when I touch the two leads.

I have one of these meters and i love it (no i dont work for Fluke,lol) but i use it mainly for testing things on my cars etc, I'm not a electronics person measuring the origins of life inside a circuit panel but just your average DIY person, it must be cheap overseas or in other parts of the world but it wasn't cheap for me and i shop around,its sturdy and very well made and it has a nice weight to it,not really sure on the display issue some people have had,the one i have is crystal clear and i love the blue light, i dont use it that much so maybe if i did it would mess up on me,lol, but so far so good.

Be aware that the test probes and leads shown in this review are not those that come with this meter. What Fluke gives you are cheapish probes, with vinyl leads not high quality silicone. Moreover, be aware that in order to be able to read the display, the meter has to be at eye level or higher. If you tilt the meter down towards you (looking at it from above) you can't see anything on the display. I should know, I just bought the Fluke 115 brand new.

Maybe the LEAD indication is just a warning and the position of the leads has no bearing on it? It seems to be displayed any time you enter or leave current measurement mode. It's odd that you saw about the same reading in AC as DC on the mV range. I guess it doesn't block DC as a meter should? Or maybe it's specified as only a DC+AC measurement? A bit odd.

My fluke 115 always having problem with resistance option. When i put both probes together, hardly get 0.0 and the reading is between 0.3 to 0.5, sometimes goes up to 0.6. Why?

I will wait to see part 2, not having low current settings is disappointing, but most electricians would never need to look at three or six places to the right of the decimal any way. 0.5% accuracy,D.C. and 1.0 % accuracy, A.C. is disappointing too, but,again most electricians can live with as well. Electricians enjoy the ruggedness of the meter. Drop it, kick it, toss it in the back of your truck, or put it in your tool bag with other tool betting it to death and it keeps working.

Why dont you test beeper speed in diode mode? I usually use diode range when looking for shorted semiconductors and if diode beeper is slow responding for shorts, it gets to my nerves ::) Also with good diodes a meter should short beep once, this also help to speed up the troubleshooting process. Another point would be that meter has to have over 2.00V diode range othervise it wont be able to detect many leaky transistors or diodes. I have seenmany time whereleaky transistor shows around 2.2V

Your information about the amp measurement is misleading. You are right that the meter does not have an mA setting but it autorange and can measure down to 0.1 mA AC/DC. You also not have a mV setting for DC - only for AC - but you still can measure down to 0.1mV AC/DC also.

I'm considering purchasing this meter. You state this is no mA range. Fluke's specs state: Range/Resolution: 6.000 A / 0.001 A Range/Resolution: 10.00 A / 0.01 A So the mA resolution is there. Am I missing something?
@gsuburban9 жыл бұрын
I agree the display needs to have better design so the face of the meter doesn't have to be directly facing the user to get a clean sharp look at the read out. Other than that, this meter does what it is was designed to.

I'm starting to learn about electronics and how to repair stuff, my first sucessefull repair was an old pc monitor, it had 2 blown up capacitors and i just changed them and it works now... now i have 2 LG tvs, one has color stripes on it, is an lcd tv, and the other i got it from the garbage outside my house, was in the rain for about 1 week and then i bring her in to see what it does if it works or not I was kind of scared to even turn it on since it was in the rain for few days, but for my surprise, it didnt drop my electricity and it works, but has a weird noise in the speakers and the image looks like is a bit washed away... im in the process of cleaning all the boards and components carefully and then I go see if is there anything I can do with it, or at least it will serve a a nice training piece since the boards and the tv itselfs are huge, is a Plasma 107 cm (42 pouces) HD TV from LG as well Since I started watching videos on youtube for tv repairs, I found someone saying that this multimeter is really good, so I got it from amazon for around 100€, do you think it is good enough just for tv, pc, radios, and small electronic stuff? That thing you said about not mesuring mA is something that will make me get stuck some day? do you even need that for basic electronic repairs? I dont have to much money, so I cant get another one, hopefully it will serve me well for a whille until I fell good enough to start repairing friends stuff and actually make some money ;)

The UT61E is an obvious compare but something like a Vichy VC99 at 33$ could also be an interesting comparison and could do a review in itself. Dave Jones once tested it and dissed it a lot because it triggered his irrational anti chinese prejudice but if you actually look at the measurements in his video it shows it was the most accurate of all the meters in the shootout and I think the cheapest so should have won. But he placed it last. I pointed it out to him and he banned me :)

can you tell me the range and maximum voltage and how is it adjusted on it?? please reply asap thanks in advance :)
@AReResearch11 жыл бұрын
The maximum voltage range is 600V, others are 60V and 6V (autoranging on both AC and DC volts). The RANGE button manually toggles between the three ranges if you wish to select the range manually. The mV range is fixed at 600mV. I actually prefer the little, rugged 117 for the odd jobs in and around the house to my 87V which I use on the workbench for electronics only. The 117 has the very handy AutoV-LoZ mode I use all the time and, as mentioned in the video, the very good continuity tester. These are the two functions to get 90% of the jobs done. Still, I don't quite trust the VoltAlert of the 117 and always double-check to stay safe. So the 115 certainly is a great electrician's meter to rely on if you don't want to spend the extra buck for a 117. If you're into (micro-)electronics and digital work, that's the wrong meter.
@kaybhee63 жыл бұрын
ONLY for the Ac Mv setting...do try the following... seems you can get wide frequency range only for mv ac setting... stick in a sine wave signal, down to 5 mvac seems ok... and vary frequency from 10 Hz upto and over 15KHz.. IF you have DC offset also , you might need to make a DC block filter.... for us, this overly expensive basic meter is now, semi - worthwhile...

Think a used one of these would be worth $100 in 2024?
@nilsunderseer2157 Жыл бұрын
As everybody know the price is not high, it is quite standard average price for a certified iso norm calibrated multimeter. You cannot compare that to the price of not certified ones in private use area where it doesn't matter that much if your metering is 99.9% garanteed exact. A contruction company or any other project where a client needs your proof that this metering is exact would loose a lot of money if the results are not correct causing damage and the client will sue you.

Always seemed pretty lame to me that Flukes can only Diode test to 2v (some flukes go higher), whereas almost any budget brand can diode test to 3.1v, which is way more useful for electronics use. As you exampled in your video, you may need another m/meter to test diodes if you have a fluke.
