I'm in my 70's, and I have never done computers well. I still haven't figured out my smart phone. But I took a chance on the Ring doorbell because of your videos. I even coupled an Alexa 5 to it. I LOVE THEM! It was so easy to install, and even the app download, (my first app download ever), was simple for me to do. Thanks so much for helping me move into the 21st century, and increase my security at the same time. Now, Alexa, show me the front door. AMAZING! Thank you.

That would be useless unless you've got your internet on backup power as well.
@moonzage2 жыл бұрын
Your battery backup suggestion is a good idea but even though that may provide you some light during a power outage I don't think it would help with the video recording unless you also had a power back up to your modem and router

Great video. One question. Can I set this floodlight to stay on all night or just during motion detection?
@22473862 жыл бұрын
Note 1: Apparently if replacing an existing flood lamp or coach light, the associated light switch must remain on. Note 2: Apparently if anyone at home wants to just briefly turn on the lamps it can only be done using the app.

I've seen too many videos where this new "Pro" model isn't worth upgrading from the previous version. I have the "Plus" version which has been working flawlessly for a while. One big turn off for me with this newer version is the plastic mounting plate. It use to be metal on the previous versions and now Ring has chosen to "cheap out" and make the plate from plastic.

Are the lights dusk to dawn or activated by motion?

I just replaced a 4 yr. old Ring floodlight camera with this Ring "pro" model for a neighbor. Like many people have experienced, the LED's had started flashing. Here's what I don't like about the new model as opposed to Ring's old unit: 1. The old Ring floodlight cameras were made out of cast aluminum...very sturdy. This new model is all plastic and feels cheaply made. 2. The floodlights on the new model can't be adjusted to as many directions or angles as the old units. If you're mounting this camera under a soffit and on the corner of a building, this becomes a definite problem.

I wonder why they don't offer an ethernet connection for this. Most people are going to be putting this in remote places of their house like the driveway or garage, where wifi signal is usually weak.

^Can you test the floodlights without connecting it first? Some say the floodlights are not bright enough while others say the lights get flooded
@ErinLawrenceTV Жыл бұрын
You would have to wire it in to get the lights to work. You could connect the wires to test the brightness without mounting the light first I suppose… Or perhaps there is some electrical electrician gadget out there that can provide temporary power to test the device? Where are my electricians at??

I’ve had this light for almost a week. I’ve had one issue and I’m not sure what it is. On two separate occasions I’ve had the lights at night keep getting triggered to come on. I’m not getting recordings or notifications that motion was sensed, the lights just keep getting triggered for some reason. I’ve tried lowering the sensitivity, shortening the range of the light sensors, shortening the motion range. I’m not sure what it could be.

How difficult is it to charge the battery or for that matter change the battery for this type of unit?
@ErinLawrenceTV Жыл бұрын
This one is wired so there’s no need to charge a battery. Even in the battery powered versions, the battery usually simply pops out the bottom and you bring it inside to recharge for about six hours or so.

Thanks for that objective review. My garage has 2 porch lights- one on the left and another on the right. If I install one on the left, will the right light one turn on too with the Ring Floodlight? If not, how should it be wired?
@ErinLawrenceTV2 жыл бұрын
It’s possible to link these devices together inside the ring app. That way you can set it so that if one detects motion or turns on the other one can do the same… Or not.

Well done video, Thank you. We have a coyote problem in our area and I want the coyotes to be filmed when they come into the yard. I have concerns that since they are not people they may not get caught on the video. I want the video filming anything that comes into / through the yard at night - I will be able to set it to do that correct? Catching the coyote traffic on our street is one of the main reasons I am looking at getting the pro-floodlight, or do you think there is a better choice to consider? Thank you, Brian

Rings app is pretty smart… And their technology is improving to the point where they are more often able to differentiate between people and other things. I can’t remember if they have animal detection specifically, but my ring cameras do get triggered sometimes by my dogs

Yes there's live view. The delay is just a couple of seconds from the time I see the notification until I click on it and it loads up. The stream seems to load quickly… Usually my tapping on my phone takes the longest.
