Hello, I have a Graphite 49 and it has an error in Saving the configurations. I would need a download link to update Firmware.

Took some time to rig it up to my DAW, but managed to set it up. It's a great Midi controller for starter indeed.

Im a fan for simple controllers. I never really used all those extra knobs. But that depends on the user!

Hey Reuben, I know it's 2021 (and things move) but I just want to hear what you have to say about this. I saw this MIDI keyboard at a local music store and thought to look it up. I hear people complaining about the firmware making the keyboard worse, and that finding the preset for your DAW (I use Ableton mostly, will use Logic in the future) takes a while to figure and assigning MIDI CCs is hard (but it seems like it's not a problem for you here in the video). Do you still use it? How do/did you find it? Would you recommend it for someone buying their first MIDI keyboard on the cheap?
@reubenchng3 жыл бұрын
Hey Tony - here's my general thought on it. Samson 'never' made any good presets to map the keyboard's pads and knobs to most DAWs. DAWs updates too often and I guess Samson couldn't keep up. The good news is most DAWs allow you to map and program the knobs/faders manually - so technically, yes, you would be able to use it. Now that said. I usually only use the keys of a MIDI controller, that's why I prefer controllers without the knobs and stuff. I feel more productive that way. I'd recommend it if you're starting out - and you really like the idea of doing some manual setting up and re-programming. However since you're on Ableton Live, I really suggest you take a look at controllers more built for it like the Novation Launckey

Hey Reuben, thanks a lot for this review ! I just wanted to know one thing, I never use my faders on Cubase to control the volume of each tracks and I'd like to know how you assign them to each fader on your controller ? (just like you said at 0:45) Thanks !

Hi Ruben, what would you suggest Samson Graphite 49 or Novation Launchkey 49 for casual playing (nothing commercial or on stage)? Is aftertouch capability real deal breaker as most reviews are inclined towards having this feature? Own a Samson Carbon 61 but its velocity sensitivity is....well, toooo sensitive.

Forget using the aftertouch on the Graphite 49. Totally unusable.

Hello Reuben ! Your reviews are always good- simple and easy to understand. I liked this version of samson graphite 49 and also, MAudio Oxygen49 (4th gen). I have a bad experience with MAudio products. I have MAudio keyrig49- within a year or so, the pitch bend started behaving erratically. I was considering of buying samson graphite version. I want to know your sincere opinion about this product- specifically, the pitch/ Mod wheel and overall key response. Do you suggest any other product? P.S. Just one more thing- take care of your camera movements. In the video, it seems quite distracting. Everything else is fine !

sanjay colaco I've never had a midi controller that pitch bend start going wrong. Id choose the oxygen 49 over the Samson Graphite to be honest. But all in all, I'm been using a Graphite for over 4 years and it's still good, thought the keys are starting to turn a little yellowish.

Reuben Chng Is it possible to change the sustain pedal funcion and transform it into an Expression pedal? If it is possible, how can I do that?
@reubenchng8 жыл бұрын
+hogweed89 It's not possible. Sustain pedal has two midi datas, 0 and 127. Expression pedal goes all the way from 0 to 127

I did this job in -Reaper- and fl studio. Page 15 in user manual explain a lot (but not all). I did not found fl studio preset very well. So for Reaper and Flstudio I use an empty preset (20-30).

I have one... great midi controller. The software (Samson user interface) is a bit limited . You cant rename or copy a preset. The Native software is realy great. Is the kontakt you showed us in de video the kontakt of Native Instruments-komplete elements(software include)? I never saw the option in my version for managing the aftertouch and or velocity.

Rman dG I'd like to know how easy are keys to press...are they lighter than a real piano? similar? I'd like it to be lighter...easier
@reubenchng9 жыл бұрын
+Rman dG You control the aftertouch within the settings section of Kontakt. Your version of Kontakt should have it as well, just within the settings area. If not, it really depends on the type of VST instruments that includes aftertouch as an added expression.
@reubenchng9 жыл бұрын
+Sebastián Frerk Yes it's definitely lighter than a real piano with hammer key action. This is more to the touch you get on the electronic keyboard.

graphite 49 or roland a49 ?
@CapeAlan10 жыл бұрын
I went with the graphite and it has been awesome for me. The editor program that it comes with makes it super easy to use. They have a very different set of options so if your main focus is to just play keys, the roland does the trick. If you want to be able to tweak software while you're playing, the graphite is for you.

You can use it without a PC as a MIDI controller.

No, you can't. Don't confuse MIDI controller vs musical keyboards. They look the same, but a function of a MIDI controller is to merely control MIDI.
