I'd like to add that the gyra lights on the Rio Grande were in the nose... So even as a fan of both railroads I can kinda excuse the mistake because he was _just_ talking about the Rio Grande model... I can see how you'd get them mixed up, especially if they're outside of your area of interest.

@Ali Muhammad sorry did not answer you right away, I ran it for a couple of days and listen to my other SD40-2 from scaletrains I have. It doesn't have the base like you say but it's got its own unique sound to it, it's close I did have to turn the master volume up on it when I got it.Going to try to get a Southern Pacific one they will have a second run I talk to scaletrains if you get one enjoy

Kato, Athearn, Walthers Proto & MTH have all made the GP35 and did a great job.

Denniss7420 Walthers never did GP35’s they did GP30s. The Kati models haven’t been ran for years and it’s hard to find a few of the phases. The Athearn models are just updated blue box models. So many railroads ran GP35s so I think they’d sell well.

i also i have the southern pacific but what you have here is advanced than i got but sadly mine doesn't have cupplers,none in the back and none in the front,it was put together a long time ago with out them,i'm goona take it to get fixed with cupplers also mine had a dark green tint to it it looks green maybe black but it's a southern pacific,i also have several other engines that need fixing as well. a spirit of 1776, a union pacific and a santa fe all of these need fixing. they were my grandpw's but they're mine now since he passed away last year.

Intermountain makes both and I hear they're pretty good, decent gearbox and prototype specific details. They've also got SD45 tunnel motors and SD45-2s if you're into 20 cylinder EMD like I am.

For the suggested time period on the box for the Denver & Rio Grande version of the EMD SD40T-2 that you have, it's way off. That's the way one of those locomotives would've looked roughly from 1986 to 1989 since it lacks ditchlights and also lacks any patching/repainting of Southern Pacific or Union Pacific in any way.

How is it way off? It has the PTC (Positive Traction Control) electrical control cabinet and axle pickups DRGW retrofitted their SD40T-2 fleet with in the mid-80s, to help put their performance on par with their SD50s. It also has the Gyralite in place and original Nathan M3 horn up front, all features units from that order would have had from 1986 until the early 90s, when merger partner SP would have started modifying things.

Love my scale trains locos but I wish they would just use Kadee couplers. Their couplers are garbage, pure garbage. They dont play well with other brands and they wont hold much more than 20 cars before they "let go".

Puhleeeese tell me you DO realize, by just spinning the wheels, and inducing wheel-slip, your're incorrectly measuring draw-bar force? It drives me nuts that you do this every time. The PROPER WAY to measure drawbar is to continue adding freight cars till movement forward ceases. THEN, pull the same consist manually using the scale tool, hence dead weight = ACCURATE & REAL drawbar force

@@pageba2010 responding to a comment takes seconds. If you don't like the videos don't watch there keyboard tough guy. This is a hobby and I don't care about mechanical engineering. Every other reviewer on KZbin does it the same way. Plus the instructions actually say what to do in order to get the results and that's what I do.
