When you zoomed in/zoomed out you could hear the scrapping inside the camera. If you have a barrel type zoom lends you might want to take a very lightly isopropyl dampened clean cloth to it a few times. Whilst it won't affect the performance, in time it might loosen the "seals" enough for dust to go inside the camera. Again, if it's a barrel type and doesn't use inside optics. If the later is the case, that kind of sucks. Awesome looking gun. Hope you will enjoy it for many years to come.

I find it crazy that a p226 is $700-800, and this super high end completely built from scratch full steel match gun is 2k, the difference is less than 3x. Yet a Glock can get some bits milled out, some bits coated, trigger redone and the frame stippled and dremeled, then a $500 gun becomes a 2k+ gun... I don't really understand that..

The entire gun industry from the guns themselves is very overpriced from the guns to accessories. The houge grips in the video cost 200$ alone. The ridiculous prices make the getting into guns very unaccessible. I just bought a sig mpx carbine for 1600$ i paid 1400$ for a hk 45ct. At least sigs are actually worth a $1000+ where as H&Ks are only worth 500-600$. XDMs are more accurate and more reliable than H&K and they are half the price. Optics and viridian lasers and suppressors are not worth the prices either (all three of these things cost as much as 1-3 guns alone)

I have an older West German P226 which shoots VERY well. I shoot 25m and 50m (standard Swiss distances for pistol - 300m for rifle). By the way (tongue in cheek bit coming) it's nice to hear an American talk about shooting further than 7 yards and wanting to get 1"-2" groups! Most guys on KZbin seem to be into rapid fire and landing anywhere on a yard-high paper target! Very nice work - subscribed! All the best, Rob

the Pardini GT-9 is easily as good as this gun so maybe look into one of those? I know I am at this point. Or a Nighthawk Custom 1911 in 9mm or .45 acp (I love 9mm but my carry is a colt M1991 a1 compact, I got HKs, SIGs, had a few Glocks all in 9mm, .45 and .40 and just can't get over that Colt-love and my SIG 1911 Scorpion, wielding that and the Colt makes me feel pretty elite heheh....) The Pardini GT-9 I just keep seeing in top-5 "best 9mm ever made lists" and I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a better competition .22 pistol than what Pardini makes!
@jamescampbell43343 жыл бұрын
I "settled" on a slightly used Pardini GT9 6", was still over 2.5k. The 5 way adjustable trigger in the Pardini is superior to the Sig X series trigger in EVERY way. The GT9 will make you have to "recalibrate" your thoughts on what an exceptional trigger is. I've seen custom 1911 and old revolver guys go silent and wide eyed after breaking the trigger on my GT9. I have it set up to break at 2.2 lbs, absolutely ZERO creep, glass break, and around .005" overtravel. I've had several shooters state my Pardini has ruined them. It exposed how mediocre their once "favorite" handgun really is. 😄

THAT is a SHARP looking gun! i love Sig P-series pistols. i had a West German P-226 9mm and a 1st gen P-229 .357 sig back in the early '90s. i had to sell them during hard times in 2008 and regret it every day since! i agree with most of your assessments but i must say my P-226 was every bit a tackdriver and sent many $3,500 custom 1911s scurrying for their holsters at the range. it routinely fired sub 1.5" 5-rd groups at 25 yds from a supported rest and an expert shooter friend fired a couple of .9" and 1.0" groups with it. i fired several 2"- 2.5" groups at 50 yds and several sub 6.0" groups at 100 yds. those early West German Sigs could definetely shoot! im sure your X-6 would take it to task but the old warhorse would give it a good go. thats a handsome gun there! youve got my hackles up for one now. the lighting and camera work really did it justice. nice work. and thanks for possibly costing me a couple grand! happy shooting!

How does something like this or the X-Five stack up against the P226 Legion? Does it shoot very different?
@SuAside8310 жыл бұрын
I have an X-Five AL, so the alu lower you were talking about. The balance changes greatly compared to the steel lower versions. Preference on weigh & balance are personal but I like the AL just fine (slightly better than my Sphinx), it puts more proportional weight in front. Supposedly, the AL was born from the idea that (european) cops might like a match grade pistol (like the Sphinx or P210), but needed it to be lighter, since carrying dead weight on your belt all day is no fun. It never caught on for obvious reasons, but competition shooters shooting it fell in love with it due to the shifted balance. So Sig added the standard X-Five funnel back on and bam, they had another race gun in their line up. As for perfection, my X-Five has slight imperfections on top of the barrel, but that's purely visual and covered by the slide anyway. The only functional flaw I've observed is that when run long & hard (IPSC/BPSA), the slide does not always lock back when empty. I don't know if it's dirt build up or heat that causes that issue. Or potentially weakened mag springs. PS: MecGars cost significantly less than the Sig Branded ones and do the job just fine, if not better than the 'real' thing (which is also made by MecGar).

abyss1232 Im also new but there is something i understand now, you cant choose a gun based on peoples comments. A pistols role is to make you feel confortable not to snipe your target instead of you so just take something that make you feel confortable while shooting all new firearms are equal in terms of capacities ( if we talk about same caliber same barrel lenge same etc.....) the only noticable difference is the person shooting. Also people tend to take the following example:"what would happen if we take to people with the same level and give them differents guns etc etc etc..." and im just like No. The one who feel more confortable will win the competition, people with exact same level dont exist.

hello there... it's an excellent gun. I bought an x-5 late 2013 and haven't looked back. I'm by no means "well off", but I do love quality products and will save for an item that is worth it. This sig x-5 is definitely worth it and will probably be my best hand gun for many years to come. I can't obtain (legally) a pardini since I live in California, but I can always endeavor the day I can shoot one. I'm currently in the market for a good/great quality ar 15 or alternative before the new 2017 law takes place in California. Any ideas will be appreciated.
@LifeSizePotato8 жыл бұрын
I'm not well-versed in all of CA's asinine laws, but Pardini does make 10-round magazines, so there may be a way for you to get one. (I'd obviously recommend you try to do so at some point!) As far as ARs, there are a lot of good makers out there - Daniel Defense and FN are a couple that come to mind for good guns at not-too-crazy prices. Or, get something like a Ruger or S&W and replace parts with ones you like for your goals. The CZ Bren 805 rifle is a good, high-quality alternative to ARs if you don't want to pay SCAR money but want something different.

That's right, when I die the new law states that the local PD will confiscate any AR style weapons and destroy them. I'm not willing to spend hard earned $$ on anything I can't legally inherit to my kids. Instead, I ordered a CZ 75 Tactical Sport. The ts orange isn't available in California or that's what I would be getting. I hope my new cz TS arrives soon so I can compare it to my p226 X-5. Once again, thx.

I have not had the trigger position adjustment screw unscrew it self. I have even lubricated it, in order to always be able to unscrew it easily. I do not tighten it very hard. As you say: Go buy one of these 😊 My only critisism on this gun, is that it takes some effort to shoot onehanded because my hands are large. G10 is pretty much fiberglass, the difference lies in the chemistry of the resins and the density of the material. Fiberglass is cured by heat just like G10 the only difference is fiberglass and hand laid carbon fiber are not under any pressure other than atmospheric. G10 is infused with resin and then pressed until the piece has cured. G10 will have many layers of glass mat where fiberglass will only have a few. A .5" piece of fiberglass may only have 4 layers, most of the weight is resin. A .5" piece of G10 will have a dozen layers and the resin only fills the gaps in the weave of the material. G10 is lighter and typically stronger than hand laid fiberglass, and its also more impervious to chemicals and is a better insulator.

A match weight add on for a 9mm handgun that already weighs 55 oz . overkill much ?

What is the grip material? I like the swirl pattern.

Try as I might.. neither of my local shops can get a hold of these X-five or X-six pistols in any flavor of match or super match. I really want to get one, but availability just doesn't seem good. ***** Want to sell yours? ;)

+Louis Whitney Thanks for the reply! Yes, I had heard similar that the X-line of pistols were only being made in Germany as well... And that Sig ran into export issues to the US. I'm sure if it's popular enough, Sig will eventually figure out how to get these pistols available to the US market.

Agreed not a fan of the trigger but good god it takes what I like from the p226 and the AREX Zero 1 and puts it into one hell of a gun.

+LifeSizePotato, do you know if they still make this gun?
@rufous038 жыл бұрын
Still made in Germany, not available in North America due to trade embargo

What does the short barrel\slide cost? If i got a gun this expensive if probably have to get the short slide too, make me use it more and not worry about scratching the slide, also be nice to carry very very occasionally Also, do you have to send it in to get it fitted to the gun? im guessing the tolerances are super tight so it would be hand fitted to the frame? Good video as always keep em coming

Also the STI 2011 Combat Master in 9mm Major featured in John Wick 3 has me VERY interested as a combat/competition piece I could do-it-all with.

M5NSX you could be looking at a Mastershop version of the same firearm, which actually is the “top of the line”. Sig we see in this video is a premium firearm no question about that... But not the top of the line, because what “Performance Center” is to Smith and Wesson, Mastershop is to Sig, actually with Sig Mastershop the sky is the limit, if you search the internet for Sig Mastershop, you will see what I mean. Each Mastershop Sig is unique, because they are made to order, seen a few that were customized to a jaw dropping, drool-inducing and mind blowing level. Also, I though he said at 2:47, this gun comes with skeletonized trigger and hammer, unless he changed it, the trigger that’s on that gun is not skeletonized. You should search for the “skeleton X6 Mastershop” for a top of the line experience

@@cemalgan The S&W performance center ain't what it used to be. I had a 327 PC Trr8, trigger was worse as my pre-lock 686.
@cem_cem99915 жыл бұрын
I have a 686 PC competitor version With the removable weights And the trigger sucked and had to send it back to the factory and came back worse than before You can’t compare Sig mastershop craftsmanship and S&W PC , I gave the example as a relativity reference

I love this handgun. I can't wait for the new X version, p320 Vtac. I doubt it'll be as good as this Pistol though.
