I own the P1X Pro and made similar experiences regarding the quality. I received several damaged profiles. Some damaged and painted over in the factory and others were damaged during the shipment. Replacement was send out fast but shipped VERY slowly by DPD. (like ups) All together it took 5 weeks until I was able to finish the build as i had to wait for parts. The customer support itself is top notch. Greetings go out to Milǒs. Thanks for your support.✌🏻

Having owned P1X (non Pro) for several years with P1X Pro I couldn't do half the things I've done with mine. All the things they've done for the looks (angled profiles, less channels for tnuts) severely limit the functionality. If you just need it for the wheel, the shifter and the looks it probably is great. But with lots of modifications I've done to mine (also for flight simming) buying P1X Pro today would be a mistake for me.

Agreed, changing the standard profiles was a mistake. I was going to purchase a second pit, but now I've found extrusion locally that also doesn't cost my first born child in shipping fees.

@@blacknovella Same. I run the Dbox Gen 5 and while attaching them to this chassis will work fine(they bolt underneath the profile), the new angled side rails would absolutely seem to interfere with them and their positioning. I could probably figure out ways to bolt on other components I have that use the middle channels that are missing, but the actuators would have issues dealing with those new siderails. Otherwise, I actually do really like the look of this new version. Very clean, but eh...

Hi Will. I have the GT1 Evo, the cheapest in the line, what I can say is that it is very robust even for a cheap cockpit and that it came without any flaws. The anodized black paintwork was impeccable, the only thing I didn't like was the plastic caps that cover the L-shaped connections. I also bought the TV stand with wheels but I built a 49" 2k resolution Samsung but the 120Hz one. So far I think it's been 4 years and I have no complaints. Regarding Sim-Labs, I can say that their assistance is exceptional, timely delivery and easy to contact. When I purchased it, I was really satisfied with the entire set-up. Thanks for the video. I'm waiting for the review of the 54" Samsung which I believe will resolve my complaints regarding the 49" but let's wait. Huge hug from your friend here in Portugal

My P1X Pro (with integrated triple monitor mount) was delivered in January 2024 direct from Simlab to the US with fully anodized profiles for all components. I’m not sure when the production run changed to powder coating for the main rig but I’ve recently added the updated P1X-Pro compatible keyboard tray (June 2024), also sourced direct from Simlab, and its profile is anodized as well. As for flex I’ve been unable to induce any despite the triple monitor mount, Simucube 2 Pro DD, and a 300+ lb nut behind the Grid MPX v2 wheel. Even at tracks like Sebring and the ‘Ring in both ACC & iRacing there’s no perceivable shifting/twisting in the rig during large FFB events.

I bought my p1x pro from simlab two months ago. I had various places where the paint was chipped so I hated the coating at first, but I love that I can slide t-nut attached pieces around without scratching the paint at all. Now, I don't even noticed the missing paint. I had a couple of issues where the paint made it into the pre-threaded holes and filled in the threading so the screws didn't want to go it, so I had to use some force to fix that. I thought I'd hate the angled uprights, but I never adjust my wheel height, so it hasn't been a problem, but I do appreciate the leg room when getting in and out. Using angled uprights does mean that every adjustment needs a bit more thought to account for the angle. I use the wheel mount deck, and one annoyance I found was that the integrated monitor mount tries to pull the uprights outward, while the wheel deck tries to pull them inwards. If I loosen my wheel deck bolts a bit, it's very easy for the bolt to pop all the way out. I'll probably switch to a front mount which also bolts to the outside of the uprights so the monitor stand pulls the bolts towards the wheel deck. I LOVE the pedal mounts and how easy it is to adjust them. I loosened the bolts a bit after mounting my pedals and then fully depressed the pedals before tightening the bolts. That put the pedals in the perfect spot for me without needing to constantly adjust things. One issue I had was buying the simlab keyboard tray from Microcenter. Simlab sells their tray with an adapter to allow the tray to properly attach to the angled uprights, but Microcenter sells the older version without the extra bracket. I created a support ticket with simlab and they sent me out the bracket. This makes me worried about buying any simlab attachments form Microcenter. It seems to me that Simlab should send Microcenter any new pieces to include when selling any extras, or Microcenter should at least differentiate the old vs new products. I also worry about buying any 3rd party profile attachments that connect to the uprights. One difference between my setup and the one in this video is that I have zero flex. I can forcefully shake my rig and it doesn't flex. It looks like Boosted Media even has flex in the side arm where the shifter is mounted, and looks like the bolts weren't fully tightened down. Another difference is that my cockpit feet have silver shafts vs the black ones that came with the cockpit in this video. I like the black look, but I wonder if that paint will get easily scratched if it's adjusted often. Overwll, I'm very happy with this cockpit and with how easy it is to assemble (now that I fixed the blocked threads) since I tend to move every couple of years.
@joshmaggard13883 ай бұрын
I just put together the Tony Kanaan version of the P1X Pro from Microcenter and the paints was nearly flawless. I only notice one imperfection on the lower profiles that I didn't notice until it was assembled. I was missing a piece to mount the keyboard tray but a simple support ticket and a follow up email with my order information had them sending out a replacement. This is the first profile rig I've assembled aside from a monitor stand, but I've been very impress with the presentation and most impressed with the attention to detail with the packaging. Everything was wrapped in paper and/or bubble wrap and boxed for the appropriate section of the build.
@TarzanGTI3 ай бұрын
I got the same thing and the bracket thing for the keyboard tray was missing but I emailed Sim Lab and they sent it out. I also noticed no real paint flaws. Only very minor issue is they painted over the threads so it’s harder to get clean thread engagement so I ran the bolts through in and out a couple times. I did have a tap and tie set nearby but didn’t find it necessary and just self cleaned using the bolts provided.

In January I was all set to buy this P1X Pro, but the shipping to North America was an issue for me. I opted for the Advanced Sim Racing ASR6 instead (thanks Boosted). While I loved the sleek, smooth look of the P1X Pro's "missing" profile channels (same goes for the ASR Pro), I opted for the traditional number of channels in the aluminum profile. This rig is going to be my "forever rig", and I may want to add something like a motion system in the future, and didn't want to run into any issues because of it.

I bought one back in march, and I have to say I’m extremely happy. I ordered it with the single integrated monitor mount, the Fanatec DD wheelbase mount and the 4th monitor mount. I fitted a 49” LG Ultrawide monitor with a 27” monitor on top and I love the setup. It arrived in perfect conditions, not even a single chip nor crack. Very well packaged. Yes it is a bit tricky to get things where you want the first time in terms of adjustability, but I guess that is normal. The positive side of that is that you get a lot of options to adjust all parts of the rig to your liking. I haven’t had any issues with flex, this thing is rock solid under normal circumstances ( I’m using thr Fanatec DD Extreme 15Nm). Of course if you try very hard to flex something it could flex but probably you’ll break your wheel or pedals first. Bottom line, if you are considering it, and have doubts, I recommend it 100%. I’m sure you will love it.

I have mine for about a month now, and overall i'm pretty content with the rig. I had some issues though. One of the big bottom beams had a serious dent in it. Luckily it's on the inside under the seat, so u can't see it. Alot of the mounting holes were filled with the coating, which made it very hard to get the bolts in. I had to go in and out with one of the bolts just to clear the coating and be able to mount it properly. I also wish they included some cable management options / clips. Would 've been nice. After ordering the website told me immediately that everything was getting shipped and told me it was 'on it's way'. Till now it still says that same message. They could be clearer on the state of the order. The rig is rock solid. I bought mine with the Sparco Grid-Q seat, and i like it very much. I like all the options u have to get your seating position the way u want it, and it's pretty easy to adjust imo. I didn't buy the integrated monitor stand, i've already got me a standalone monitor stand from another manufacturer. Overall i'm pretty happy.

I have my P1X-Pro since December 2023 and it was fully anodised. Being one of the first batches of this rig back then there were some teething issues with the front mount. In my case there were some parts missing and the manual did not mention them either and I ended up damaging my front mount. But the support of the Sim-Lab guys was amazing and they immediately sent me a completely new front mount to solve this issue. It is my first profile rig (before this I had a Playseat Formula) but I absolutely love it. I do recognise the difficulty of mounting extra things due to the lower amount of channels and the angled uprights. I ended up buying myself a 3D printer to make custom brackets for several things such as to mount a button box to the uprights.

Very good review as always. I am totally agree about the inclined uprights design, these design is totally absurd in my personal opinion, basically it makes the adjustability clearly worse compared with the previous model with 90 degrees ones. Now as you say if you change the height of the base for example you need to change the vertical position of the monitor support, you could arrive to the situation you can not achieve the perfect position because of that... absurd. I know all other manufactures are doing the same, but is absurd to reduce the flexibility of the rig in an aluminium one that you are basically paying for this flexibility, and they are not cheap..., also the fact that to fix anything in this inclined uprights you need now to buy an extra piece to make the conexion straight, extra piece that I am sure sim-lab and others do not sell them cheap at all.... I suspect now sim-lab and others are doing this because is "cooler" (probably for 1st time buyers that are not aware of the big problem of this) but mainly because now they can charge an extra for the extra pieces to make the inclined straight to fix anything there. I have the previous model with 90 degrees ones (P1-X) and I am extremely satisfied with it yes, but if I were in the market for a new one I would not select one with this inclined uprights for sure, I do not see the sense of this at all.

I have this and had quality control issue in exact same place as yours except mine was dinted on the edge aswell as bad prep before powder coating. I sent pictures to sim lab as requested and was told turn it over to hide it. I explained you can't turn it over due to the seating cross member hole being counter sunk. I could swap both side to achieve it but really after assembling I don't fancy disassembling it to do this. Took a fair few back and forth emails and few week later they finally agreed to replacement the section. Pricing invoice was strange also as no breakdown of parts. Just a total which came to £1,200 after vat and postage which was strange as purchased on black friday with 10% discount and I priced it at alot less as KZbinr Dave Cam advised on his review his total was £1,218 and mine didn't include the integrated triple screen or the seat mount or the seat slider or the pedal slider which dave quoted his pricing on.

I have had the p1x pro since November of 2022, it does not have a painted finish, it is anodized. My only complaint was the direct drive mount did not include the spacers to keep the bolts from breaking the aluminum when tightening, the manual at the time indicated that they may or may not be included. I bought my own on Amazon once Simlab sent me new brackets because mine did end up breaking. Packaging was perfect, no damage in shipping, huge improvement from my P1x experience 3 years prior in that aspect.

I've said this many times before, on my opinion rigs should be about rigidity > customization > looks. What simlab has done here is made a worse, cheaper rig (for them to make) and charged it the same. It's a real shame because P1X was great and it doesn't need much inovation, it's a rig. You can make some, for example something like advanced sim racing pro, it has that great wheeldeck. Or GT omega prime has those new accessories to switch between GT/Formula style. Maybe you can also make some holders for shifters or easily switching racing/flight sim, that's it. Simlab has done nothing here. What makes an 80/20 profile great is that it's standard so you can customize it more efficiently, you can do what ever you want and this curved, stylish modern BS makes it so much harder to do that. If I was in a market for a rig I would just buy Gt omega prime, it's basically like old P1X with great acessories and not overpriced delivery.

Those moire monitor mounts are sold separately and bolt to regular aluminum block stock via T-screws. They made MY efforts to align my triple screens far easier than the classical VESA mounts. My point is that you can probably use these with any monitor frame as long as there is a channel to insert a set of t-screws to hold the frame part.

Honestly, this feels like a downgrade from the OG P1X - Anodization is generally more resistant than paint, especially to scratches - Adjustability and the ability to mount stuff is drastically reduced, because of the missing slots and slanted profiles - P1X does not flex at all then pushing or pulling the wheel as you did (at least mine).

TIP: for the G9 monitor review do something that a lot of owners of this screen do but so far no Sim Racing related channel coverage of the monitor has done. It is vital you try the screen with the Tobii Head/Eye Tracking combined with Opentrack software. This then gives you a VR style experience (without the 3D obviously) but lets you move within the cockpit and look wherever you want maintaining the 32:9 at all times. Ask the question, why go with triple 4K which is much harder on GPU? This gives you better framerates, no screen borders, no odd looking plastic strips. Additionally using the monitor in native resolution will provide a MUCH higher level of PPI compared to your own supersize screens, 4K TVs or other 1440p based monitors. Less hassle to configure than triples and no need for extra stand/legs. It is expensive, but its a unique product and user experience no worse value than say a 2K brake pedal.

I had a FGT Elite but sold it for my ASR 6 powder coated white which gives more automotive look and feel when compared to anodized profiles, But I did find the anodized seemed to scratch and show more than powder coated IMO. About 3 years ago I built a MDF early Daytona USA style MAME/SIM cabinet with a Driving Force Pro and a 32inch lcd, had rewire the wheel buttons to the dash making my own circuit board (a first for me) using rectangle cabinet style buttons, five on the right Daytona style and three on the left Cruz' in World style and an arcade 8way J-stick for a shifter. It's upgrade time, the DF-Pro broke and I got a G27 (As Is) some years ago, and should be-able to wire the G27 shifter buttons to the dash easy and use the G27 shifter, win, better looking pedals and a wheel rim that's passable, but if I go to all that work and upgrade DD later I'm trying to find the best way to continue using the G27 shifter, think there's a mod for Logitech shifters directly to PC or a mod from Logitech shifter to Thrustmaster wheel base. Before that happen got a great (Ebay) deal on a never been used 5inch lcd and modding my sim rig base which holds the seat and pedals and is 200mm height MDF with a light steel frame double chassis with spring in each corner and a light universal joint at mass center, for bass shakers. I looked at a lot of videos on the Slip Angle set up but all the mass of the sim rig base sits on the four springs, what I'm trying is to have most of the mass sitting on the universal joint and minimal mass on the four springs, the Nobsound amp is on it's way but I'm still looking at bass shakers. Dayton 4 kit pucks seam like a good starter, and if it isn't enough put two pucks in each corner. Triple screen is coming too, that slide out of the Daytona USA style cabinet but I have to drop lcd size to 27inch, but after the bass shakers and when I find someone selling three LCD screens on Ebay.

Some of those other bespoke mounting solutions with pre-drilles holes etc in the profiles do seem like pretty sensible simplifications though at a glance.

Good review! And a nice cockpit overall. (Not perfect but nice :)) Question: Maybe I missed something, but is that extra pedal tray even necessary with those specific pedals? Couldn't they have been installed directly on the profiles instead? (not needing to buy that extra part)

I love this rig, really stable and nothing moves. Also good for Fanatec pedals to adjust to 90 degrees. Simucube pedals also fit perfectly. I'm thinking about buying a G9 49 oled or the 57 inch?

Not a fan of the angled uprights either, but a free-standing monitor mount offers an alternative mounting option.

Sim-Lab needs a shifter that isn't the push-pull so that @boostedmedia can go "all-in" with the reviews.

Why is it that every review I’ve seen is positive with very very minimal negativity, and when there is a little negativity it’s immediately followed up with some explanation.

Um, I would say them sending a replacement profile sounds about right. I had some issues with my order, but the customer support was 10/10. Also never use GLS if you can avoid it...
@boostedmedia3 ай бұрын
Absolutely. What I mean is if they hand pick replacement parts to send a reviewer then it’s not really indicative of the normal customer experience. So it’s not really valuable data. Better to ask the audience to share their real world experiences.

Not a fan of the changes to the profiles and uprights. The only thing that achieves is less customizability which is exactly what the aluminium extrusions were used for in the first place. I do appreciate the design not using corner brackets, but I don't think that trade off is worth it. While looking at this cockpit vs. the ASR 6, I found an old P1 on Facebook for cheap and went with that instead, saved over 50% (like $700 or something) over the price of this, and I don't regret it one bit. Once I move to a DD wheelbase, I'll buy the P1-X Pro wheel deck and then I probably won't ever touch my cockpit again.

About that coating chipping off instead of just scratching... What's gonna happen in long term use? Is that coating the right one for long term use? Because if it's chipping off, it could chip off possibly close to a millimeter or more and things will snag more. This thought might be exaggerated: that maybe it could get bad enough that you can't mount on the same spot anymore. You say your rig is pretty scratched up from putting stuff on and off it. Has it gotten harder to mount stuff on it?

Hey Will, quick question for you. Looking to upgrade my rig. Looking at sim lab px1-pro or tr 160s in blue. Few things here I like how tr upright are straight up and not sure about shape of tr160s for the motion. Out of those 2 rig which do you think is better made.

How do you think this would stand up to motion (I.e Qubic QS-220). I’m concerned that using bolts threaded into the profile would not be as strong as using brackets/bolts/t-nuts.

The spacing is the same but yeah the lack of channels on the side means you may have to add profile to the sides or fabricate something simple to mount some motion systems.

@@Dranouss972 Oh I have the same D-box G5 and brackets from them! Does the angled side profiles not intrude with the front actuators? Seems it would be hard to get the "square" mount shape with the four aligned based on the video. Like the front don't look like they have much room in Will's video?

I sim lab though Microcenter and profile box was dropped and damaged the profile during shipping. So Microcenter told me go through sim lab for replacement. I thought sim lab took care of customer. I guess sim lab is coming a track racing and not taking care of customer.

In summary, the P1X Pro is only “ pro” in name but in reality, it is a downgrade, a P1X-lite, designed to save SimLab some $$ and banking on the looks to make up for the lack of features and expand ability. No wonder many are looking for the OG P1X or going for clones.
