There’s also a QR upgrade available in addition to the QR adapter though showed with the F1 wheel. This is compatible with most wheels in the ecosystem and completely replaces the old threaded connector on the wheel with the new style QR, eliminating the extra flex that comes with the adapter. Also, the load cell kit comes with a wider plate to accommodate 3 pedals.

Thanks for the review. If I could suggest one "constructive criticism" thing: the black housing with your black T-shirt and black background, with this kind of "insufficient" lighting, it's a little bit hard to see the details a lot of the time. Looks good. Note to table mount users: if your like me and have to pack the wheel away after use you will need to plug in and unplug the pedals with each use. The RJ style plug for the pedals have a tendancy to fail at the retaining tab that keeps the plug in place and is super annoying to find a way to keep in once the tab fatigues and falls off. Dont know if other manufacterurs use these plugs but minor gripe.

so glad DD is getting priced more realistically i still remember saying how overpriced it was like two years ago and people told me i was crazy. it can still be priced much cheaper believe it or not. just depends on the market. expect kits like this to only cost $350 within a couple years, with even cheaper $250 kits like the R3. there's nothing special or new about DD. most casuals are perfectly fine with 2-3nm of torque and cheap pedals. $250 isn't even cheap.. that's the same price as a really good battery powered drill, which mind you have far more torque of up to 135nm. more people buy drills that's the only reason prices are so different.
@decnet1003 күн бұрын
well to be fair, power drills just about all use planetary gearboxes and not direct drive, hence why different speed settings. The motors in power drills aren't all that strong on their own - I once replaced the one in my Makita DF-453, so I had a really good look at it (not really strong drill, I know - but rated at 45/27Nm for the gears, so a lot "stronger" than most wheels) - Turns out, that thing uses a 550 standard motor for about $30. - these things are rated in the 0.x or even 0.0x Nm constant torque range, dependant on the supplier... For my DIY motion rig I'm using large 500W 24V motors, weighing about 3kg each - I'm sure they could drive a wheel, but they only produce just about 2Nm without a gearbox. That's the thing, the direct drive requirement is not so much necessary anywhere else (who cares about a little bit of slop in a power drill after pressing the button?) and that's what keeps things expensive.

Excellent excellent video. I have no experience with any DD wheels. This one comes with a plastic rim - now - are the Fanatec and Moza rims also of plastic? Also you talked about the annoyance - or should I say, the unrealistic ffb with the overshoot function. Can this function be turned off? I am going to watch some more of your videos to compare. I have used anything up to the G29 wheel, so ANY DD wheel will be a massive upgrade for me, but of course I would like to get the best value for my hard earned cash. I have kids with a PlayStation 4, so will this wheel work on the PS4? I myself will only use it on PC, but nice to have both options.

I haven’t played much in the last few years, but I got back into GT7 and am considering upgrading to a proper setup. I’m considering getting the Fanatec GT DD Pro (8 Nm)(I have ps5 no PC) with the CSL Pedals + Load Cell Kit+Next Level Victory cockpit. My budget and room are limited. I can't put wheels on the Victory and move it around easily. Advice would be appreciated from experienced drivers if this is a good enough setup. Also a coupon code for Fanatec or Next Level 😁.

Mounting holes work on a playseat challenge?

Got a question. I've always had belt drive wheels, back to the TM Formula T2 with ICR2 and Nascar Racing. I mostly play older PC games NR2003, NR, ICR2, etc. but also experiment with iRacing and AC original on the PC. I do dabble with GT7 and other games on the PS4, and will definitely get Nascar 25 on PS5 when released. My T500RS is getting long in the tooth, though, and does not work with my PS5. This T598 looks like a worthy upgrade. However, is it worth the cost to go ahead with a move to the Fanatec GT DD Pro even though it will cost 300-500 (by the time I'm done with it) more for the 8NM version? Or, is this new T598 perfectly fine for a hobbyist?

I don't have the T598 & am stuck with "just" the T300, so take my advice with a grain of salt, but if you're more of a "weekend gamer" & don't really plan on being very involved into simracing (getting expensive rigs, expensive wheels, pedals etc.) then the T598 is more than enough as it will give you enough strength to have fun with but also the market for potential aftermarket upgrades to your setup won't break the bank, like can be seen with Moza or Fanatec (nevermind other, more expensive brands)

Great review! Would you choose the 598 over the GT DD Pro?
@AdamsOlympia2 ай бұрын
I would, if I was still in the market for an entry level DD wheel. Fanatec customer service was horribly unresponsive, taking over a month just to get a return started on a faulty GT DD Pro. The USB-C connector in the quick release kept disconnecting while driving, which is a common fault with their design. There are numerous YT videos from people having the same issue.

I have used both customer services in the past and both were very helpful with my situation. Both were helping me with products of theirs that I didn't even buy from them, I bought both used. But it's been a couple years since I've needed to contact Fanatec. I just contacted Thrustmaster a couple times in past 6 months and both times they replied within a day.

not many channels from which I would watch an hour long review for a product I am not really interested in, simply just out of curiosity

Thanks for the video! So what would you say is the best compromise for a wheel/wheelbase/pedal package up to approx 500? I only need PC compatibility

im actually interested in this wheel at first until it rotates like crazy.

Turning the friction to high totally eliminates that, but I don’t know how many details I’m missing because of that setting. That said, when it’s bad, it’s really bad!

would love a comparison between this and the t300, would have to be a large amount of people wondering if this would be a worthwhile upgrade

He did say it would def be an upgrade over any belt or cog wheel. Although I will say the tgt2 is better rn on gt7 but on everything else I find the 598 better. Against the t300 absolutely no question I'd go for it

I upgraded from a T300 and I have no regrets. This is far more powerful and far more precise, and force feedback feels instant so I can catch slides that I couldn’t before. It also doesn’t lose FFB when it heats up. I’m counting on firmware updates and GT7 support to get the most out of it, but I’m really happy with the upgrade.

Thank you for highlighting the issues with ACC on PlayStation. This was the only sim I used on a daily basis and so now it’s put me off. May have to buy a PC now!
@boostedmedia2 ай бұрын
No problem. You definitely don’t want to buy this if your main sim is ACC on PS.

How can I get this to work with the Thrustmaster SF1000 wheel?
@dwajinkoppunoori2 ай бұрын
Should I consider this base or the t818 cause I have a lot of rims already and I was wondering which is better, the t598 or t818. Also coming from a TS-XW. Please drop your suggestions.
@Sithhy2 ай бұрын
It depends on what you want. If you're going after Playstation compatibility then totally go for the T598 (same basic strength as the TS-XW) but if you're PC only & want something with more strength then go for the T818
