Without reading why comments, this is the first video of yours I've come across while looking for knife reviews and wow! As a retired sales engineer for valves used in copper & good mining, I have finally found someone that speaks my lingo. This sets the bars on how a knife review should be done. Subscribed 👍

I don’t enjoy front flippers, but that knife looks pretty cool. Thanks for sharing it with us.

They certainly are not for everyone. My first preference is thumbstud deployment.

"Hole-ly Front Flipper, Batman!!!" Should come with a box of Q-tips for cleaning. The grey/black version is less gaudy looking. Would get this one if it also came with a black blade. SRMs are a bit pricier compared with what Sanremus used to cost. Pricing seems the same on AliExpress, but you can get it at White Mountain plus discount in a week instead of weeks.

LOL, yes, I guess those holes can grab a lot of lint. I left it for the video the way it got after my testing, but that means a minimum of being carried on 10 different days, so not a lot of time for junk to build up. I could not find it on AliExpress this week. It's been there in the past, and yes at the same price, so you may as well shop at WMK. Sanrenmu is the branding for the Asian market and SRM models are designed for the western market - that explains the pricing. For example, that is why you don't find the flood of 7000 series knives with the SRM brand.

I am going to take the opportunity of this video to thank you publicly for the give away prize that I received today! You have been way too generous by sending not 1 but 5 (five!) knifes. Thank you Jake, you are a great content creator and good human being! p.s. I don't dig this knife as I don't dig other knifes with this type of ultramodern design.

I like this one. Front flipper, lots of holes, light weight, ambi-lock, flush screws, sharp from the factory, and I don't mind the D2 steal. Nice review Jake!

Ooooo, the high-tech SRM! I’ve been curious about this one. It reminds me of a bridge. Looks like the ambi lock is pretty smooth. Gooey and oily inside! I think you can get new omega springs for SRMs at Ali Express for $6 US, but maybe SRM will step up. Power Cutlery has this knife in black cf. I think this one is a little fancy for me - my speed is more toward the 9202 in what Molly at OCD4EDC calls dookie brown. Good review!

Thanks, oh yeah, I have spare omni springs, I just want to see if SRM will give good customer service or not. It was just two years ago when they didn't even have an English website (well they had a site go up and down for a few years but it was terrible) and now they have two sites. sanrenmuknives.com for the knives targeted to the Asian market and srmknives.com targeted to the Western market.

Omni springs? I thought they are called Omega springs. Because of the resemblance to the Greek letter Omega. However, I agree with your opinion pretty much. It's a great knife. I bought this after the 7228 and 1168 and I think SRM has chang3d their game completely since the logo change. Action and build quality are excellent on all 3. ....well, except the pocket clip because mine also has a flawed finish.

I've often gotten names wrong. This wasn't the first time and it won't be the last. Sadly, I am not a god. I find the blue anodization that SRM is using on a few knives lately is VERY prone to chipping off. It hadn't happened to me by the time I published this video though, so I didn't mention it.

Right. I am so happy that I have a good number of viewers from Germany and other countries where most of the knives I review are banned, at least for public carry. You have only a small variety of types of knives you can have, and I find myself not being thankful enough - sometimes I dream of those knives I cannot have instead of being thankful for the many knives I can have.

I'm over the hole/s in the blade look, and now holes all over the handle, too, NOOOOOO. SRM please use a good budget stainless steel. Nice that SRM put a small sharpening choil. Great video!

The good thing is that there are loads of knives that have no holes in blades or handles, but for the guys that like this look I am glad there are a good number of these available to them. I like D2 but I am over how much much D2 has been used in the last few years. in the last 10 years D2 used to be seen on the odd knife but for some reason in the last 3 years the market has been getting flooded with the stuff. Sanrnemu does like to use Sandvik steel, I wish they would offer blades either in both D2 and a decent budget stainless or only in stainless.

Jake, wonder if Sanrenmu has 'jumped the shark' ??? No matter what *'they'* call that lock ... has it been improved upon? Have a flat surface engage the tang and part of frame above locking pin (simple physics explains the advantage) and have locking pin engage tang more instead of absolute minimal engagement and have locking pin not be trying to go 'up a ramp' as it engages tang. Don't suppose you could put in a word to Sanrenmu eh? I'm available for consultation if Sanrenmu needs advice. Just about the only way a person owning an Axis lock knife (Benchmade or other) can feel somewhat more secure is by disassembling knife and hand finishing. This takes placing blade back in place multiple times to check for fitting. Temporarily removing Omega springs makes this much easier.
@CanadianCuttingEdge
@CanadianCuttingEdge 3 жыл бұрын
It's just a standard axis lock, nothing special with their version of it, at least that is my opinion. Sorry, I don't have any relationship with Sanrenmu at all.

@@CanadianCuttingEdge , lol, Benchmade calls their Adamas a "Tactical" folding knife you can bet your life on .... High praise for a knife that is subject to catastrophic failure. I've got a few $5 folders with a bolt lock mechanism that is safer than Benchmade's "Tactical" folder. Unfortunately, they are not currently being sold on Gearbest or any other site I know of. On Benchmade's KZbin channel I posted a message asking if they wanted to have a spine whack contest ... my Cold Steel Kudu versus one of their "Tactical" folders. Benchmade refused and did not allow public viewing of the message. I have high praise for the Axis lock mechanism ... just not as it is applied. I think it comes down to lack of respect by Benchmade towards their customers. Probably never will be no shortage of Benchmade fanboys though.

I would buy this knife if they used 154CM or N690, I just have too many options for less in D2. Thanks for the review.
