Great review! I'm glad that you gave them a second chance.

So glad you asked me my opinion! I wish the company's website had more info, but... as of this moment, I like 'em. Will be curious if their formulation stays the same or changes over time. Wish the Staedtler website said more, but I guess it is "trade secrets"? I know some online folks sell vintage pencils, so it would be cool to try to figure out what years had what ingredients. Yeah, I don't get out much, I know! Hah!

I have 4b, 2b and 2h. I need to buy something in between. Was considering B, HB and F. What would you recommend for writing small letters in a moleskine notebook? I like when the pencil is softer glides, but my favourite 2B is too thick. All mars are great! Searching for a perfect balance between readbility and smudging I guess.

Since this isn’t a brand I keep on hand and use all the time I don’t have a surefire answer for you. I’d suggest get all three and see which one you prefer - then restock that one!

So I just bought a pair of Lumograph 8B (the Art. Nr. 100-8B). I liked the fact that the lead core was thick. I was expecting a very soft lead pencil and was very suprised when I tried them and they felt more like conté, chalky. And you say that thwy have now changed them?? Wonder which one I have got and if it's worth trying to get them again as that might be something else? Very confusing Staedtler!

The Staedtlers use carbon and graphite to get their darker values, and carbon feels scratchy and rough compared to graphite (which is very slippery). This is part of why I don't like them, because carbon layers differently and has a cooler, bluer-black tone. The leads are often thicker on softer pencils because more graphite to make a darker value is more brittle so a thinner lead would break too easily in use and sharpening. Let me know if you like drawing with them, I'm curious if others dislike the feel and layering like I do?

Can you please tell me which brand would be best for the beginners?

They really are all quite good for beginners! I like the Mitsubishi Hi Uni's as they are not too soft or too hard. kzbin.info/aero/PLmuk19K4PkT7A3ANOYYenQ7YChiuyQSug

... and, just for your statistics and feedback.. I, too, like the Lumographs, both blue as well as black - black especially, for their 'rich' and deep black - meaning more matt/less-shiny, thus appearing darker - lesser proportion of graphite also gives the LBlack a bit less 'smooth' feeling on the paper and results in a more textured surface coverage - Fine variety and options to use LumographBlue and LBlack in combination, too - Looking forward to your impressions and assessments :-)

Yes, but carbon pencils are a different thing than graphite pencils. :)

Talking for a living isn't the easiest job, and I am who I am, can't change that to please everyone! But will give my videographer this feedback and see what he thinks about our sound set up.

Please don’t take this as an insult. I enjoy ur videos and learning a lot from ur videos . Ur only one KZbin that teaches basics . My comment came cross aggressive which wasn’t intentional and I’m sorry It’s just like sound setup is in way that makes those noises be noticed Easily.I’m sure it can be tuned .

@@rabee2040 thanks for being gentle! Unfortunately, I checked and my sound set up is the best it can be at the moment. I hope you still keep working on the basics with me, as they are super important for great drawing growth!
