I completely agree, John Walker's custom kit looks amazing and accurate to the game while Hasbro's is more comparable to Boss's clone wars design.

I have gotten a few custom clones and my favorite clone Alpha 77 Captain Fordo. I have been using 3D printed parts to customize every clone I have but Bly I left untouched from Black series. The custom Boss looks awesome 10/10 🥹

I recently got into Star Wars, and the Clone Commandos were easily one of my most favorite units along with the Death Trooper. And I was a bit disappointed that the Hasbro CC didn't look as cool as I had hoped, but I saw this and was even more devastated, since I cannot pull this off. But was then relieved that I can have someone else do it for me. I would actually love to do it myself, but maybe not on this one. 😅

Bought a kit from Kamino Clone Facilities on eBay (guy makes really good cutom kit components) and although it's been a big project, it looks legit like the custom on the right as the armor is made to fit over the other black series clones with some sanding and cutting (had to sand the old clone head and jack the ball joint socket and then drill a hole to fit it in the custom head and then sculpt and glue around it all. It's awesome after all the work has been complete.

tbh what they should've done is shrunk down heavy to the same size as regular clones but kept the bulk and given him a commando helmet it makes way more sense

I mean, I agree that Hasbro made some questionable decisions, but not on this figure. It was a natural fit to repaint Bad Batch armor and call it a commando because Bad Batch armor really is just variations on commando armor. Hasbro's biggest problem was not making the base body more bulky. Hunter and Crosshairs should have had stockier armor because Clone Wars always made clone armor form fitting despite being big and bulky in person. That was the style, and Hasbro should have done a better job at translating it. All in all, despite the Skylu3D/John Walker Customs body being perfect in every way (Seriously, go support both of them) it's going to be a WHILE before I have time to really get stuck into another custom job. I'll be getting the figure when it inevitably goes on sale, and possibly months down the road I will have enough time to print and customize a figure that looks more accurate, but as it stands, I can live with the official one until my schedule lightens up.

I respect your opinion. I’m sure collectors will enjoy this figure. I went back to watch the bad batch episode with the commando cameos, and I saw that they do in fact have similar rendition to this official release. As for the customs, I hope you get to be able to work on a kit soon. I remember putting this one together and when I panel lined to bring out the details on the abdomen, i was floored with how nice it looks. It’s just too bad the people who has no access to the customs will not be able to enjoy that detail.

The Commandos were genetically modified to be more bulky and muscular. Hunter doesn't have that genetic modification so his armor is not bulky. It's inaccurate both by design and the character's size.

Greatly appreciate your compliment. I think the credit for the custom really goes out to John Walker and Skylu3design for pumping out these great kits. Yeah the Hasbro release is a real disappointment. They came out with some awesome figures recently but the Clone Commando is not the best representation of what they are capable of.

Hello! I used the bootleg clone figure. People usually order them from AliExpress (unfortunately I cannot tell you which vendor to buy from, because I bought them inside a store in Hong Kong and not ordered them from AliExpress. John Walker Customs, the maker of these 3D kits, recommends this body too. They are great for customs, because when you put them in hot water, the parts can very easily take apart. Official Hasbro figures are much harder! If you want a good idea of how to put them together, go to “John Walker Customs” on Instagram, and then click on the story section. Basically this figure is a cosplayer imitating the real thing. Still gunna buy him when hes out so i can mod him myself. I also would not mind the flaws of these new figures so much except they got more expensive now 30$ for a skinny flawed figure. :/
