I appreciate you recommending the episodes. Dominque really played this role. I still am not sure if Dre killed Marissa or she killed herself. The only thing I do know is Dre did not leave with Queen Bee.
@rmarie5725 Жыл бұрын
Marissa definitely killed herself. She had a history of attempting suicide (the scar where she slit her wrist at the beginning of the first episode). Dre wasn’t inept enough to stage a suicide. That death didn’t follow any of her patterns. Dre killed and disposed of ppl in a very specific way. None of that matches Marissa’s death at all. Plus, all of the messages that Marissa text Dre ending with the “I’m sorry” all were sent when Dre was at Festival and with the white guy. Even the detective that put everything together still acknowledged Marissa’s death as a suicide because it doesn’t fit the pattern or MO of Dre’s crimes.

I was waiting on your review! Dominique did an amazing acting job! I read an article where the co-creator Janine Nabers mentioned creating this story that spotlighted a black woman serial killer which included some real and rumored stories of course wrapped in this crazed stanism. I had to read the article to get her POV. Also Malia Obama wrote an episode too. I love to research the creators because the highlight maybe this is based on Hive fans but it seems there’s another focus of black women serial killer character. Most serials do have something they fixated on for inspiration. Almost seems the true fixation was Marissa not Nijah considering I thought that Nijah face looked like Marissa in that last episode.

Fav episode was the true crime episode. The detective was a Hoot, but the piece on Dre’s foster care experience/ interview with the case worker stood out to me (I work in social services). Too many people look at child trauma as gossip and I was happy to see, even on a show, that get shut down.

I don't know Ashley, I feel like we have two different perceptions watching outside of the humor, enjoying Billie's performance and the obvious wink-wink-nudge-nudge of being in on the know about all of the Beyoncé references. I really sympathized with Dre and while I don't think I could ever kill over a celebrity I am a fan of, I found her mannerisms more than anything to be quite captivating. I started watching your review one night I couldn't sleep and paused when you said Marissa died as I had fallen asleep and had to see it for myself unsure of how long into the video I'd gotten. I went and watched the first episode and I didn't not enjoy it but I didn't feel the need or desire to watch more immediately either though the song by Ni'Jah "Something Like That" REALLY stuck with me both visually and audibly. I finally went back and watched episode 2 on Friday and I was BLOWN AWAY IT WAS SOOO GOOD! I LOVED episodes 2 and 4 in particular, especially 2 with how funny it was. I hadn't entirely caught onto Dre's mannerisms before and after committing murder by episode 3 but when I went back and listened to your review you were right about her asking Khalid "who's your favorite artist?" BEFORE she killed him even though time passed which was the same thing she'd done to the majority of her victims going forward. Like I said I really enjoyed seeing Dre's trigger responses particularly after killing somebody how she went for food though junk food in particular like when she pushed the fruit away at the diner and found nothing desirable in the fridge of the KZbinr. Dre has a definite oral stimulation fix as well as apparent signs of either developing and worsening mental illness or the traits of a sociopath like when Rashida joked earlier in episode 7. I REALLY HOPE (as weird as it sounds) Dre figuratively got the "help" she needed after she was caught because through it all like the social worker pointed out Dre has both abandonment issues and potential behavioral that translate over to her actions. I don't know if I wholeheartedly agree she killed Marissa solely because she loved her too much and unlike other victims she expressed actually remorse and loss for Marissa after her passing. I don't think it would be too far fetched necessarily either but from the grief she portrayed and experienced I think she either blacked out like when she was in the cult or was truly manic and dissociative which could also give more context to her changing names, etc. outside of just being protective while evading the law. I REALLY enjoyed the show overall and like you said moments TRULY had me on the floor as well! I REALLY WANT a sequel of sorts but I'm not sure it was created for that intention nor if there'd be much else story to pursue. Once Marissa died Dre's days became numbered unfortunately because she was truly lost.

Dre didn't kill Marissa she killed herself because Marissa had tried to kill herself before because she slit her wrists as a child that's why Dre kept kissing her scar on her arm

Alternative theory: Marissa had truma to the back / side of her head. That had to have been an attack. I think the scar on her arm was self harm because the two were separated when Dre was sent back to the adoption agency. The mom talked about how bonded they were and how much they needed each other. I think the Detective explained how Dee killed Marissa because she talked about attacking from the back and strangling her...the same method Dre used on Rashida who she also loved. I think it's so strange that a woman who couldn't look Khalil in the eye would watch a video and go to a club in that outfit and sleep with the first guy she saw. I think she had a psychotic break and this was an illusion

That's why Marissa parents were so damn mad. She almost died the first time Dre comes into their lives. She sneaks to live with Dre and then she really dies? They think she's responsible

So explain the how the blood was on the pillow from the back of her head

I thought the scar was due to the fight breaking out at their childhood slumber party. I think Dre must have slashed Marissa’s hand during her scuffling with the white girl with the neck scar.

@@beyourself2444 that’s what I was thinking. It’s was probably a accident of being caught in a cross fire but Dre need help. Then again I think her ability to cope and be empathetic was mixed in with the placenta that was thrown out since birth. So I don’t know how she could be helped

Ok I finished it now! Wow this was actually brilliant. Such a shame there won’t be a season 2. Can’t believe that ending but we know from episode 6 that ‘Tony’ was arrested at a concert. She had an unhealthy obsession with Marissa and the ending really showed that. I kinda wanted to see more of the actual artist Naija they never really focused on her much only a distance or on a poster. Obviously we know it’s Beyoncé but that’s what confused me at the end cos I was like who is that? That ain’t naija … that’s Marissa! Show was brilliant!

I’m with Rashida 1000% before rashida met this bum she had a roommate that paid her part. Dre aka, aka , aka and also aka don’t know shit about responsibility or paying bills or having emotions. I don’t wish she cross path with anybody beside a straight jacket in a non padded room JS. Definitely said what I said.

did it show marissa texting Dre that she needed her? Maybe that was her cover up. I think Dre killed marissa too. I only watched bc you tweeted about it. Enjoyed the review 🫶🏾
