Just saw a guy crash and crack his sternum that's what brought me here. Safety above all.

why did his sternum crack? I would look at the basics first, but thats just me.

@@highinthedirt He hit the steering wheel. His harness was also installed incorrectly. On impact he flew forward right into the steering wheel. The harness also failed at the clip.

I had that same issue with the ujoints. Column is a 3/4 20...I needed a 3/4 20x 3/4 36 and a 3/4 36 × 3/4 smooth to make mine work

I have read that on a lot of these collapsible steering columns the steering wheel quick disconnect has a lot play in it. Does your steering wheel wobble at all? Does it have a little play in it?

+jtwoods41978 no, none at all in the shaft, and very minimal in the coupler. No more or less than I've had in other splined couplers. The only time I've had complaints in the steering shaft/coupler have been from hex-style couplers.

So i heard you mention a BMS sportmod and wanted to know if you liked that chassis and if you had a collapsible column in it. I just bought a used BMS and noticed that the column in it is pointed directly at my chest which brought concern.

It worked pretty good. I have a Rage now, and I think its a much better car. In the BMS I think the column ended up fitting really well when I removed the quickener.

I guess it is ultimately adjustable, but I consider the safety of the collapsible shaft the primary use. Worked great, I intend to put these in every car I have until something better comes along.

wait so you just set these where you want it and it can move back and forth freely with some resistance?

there are clamps on the column at the upper mount so that it cant slide on its own. however the lower end will still collapse in a crash to prevent it from crushing you.
