Good to see Tamron going strong with their new mirrorless lenses. That film lens is in great condition.

A interesting lens to save money and bag space on filters! Thanks Mr. Peter Elgar.

Famous, pretty pricey but well worth it. Ebay dealers will love this introductory hands-on video. There are some quite affordable adapters available for mirrorless system cameras, although the ones I'm aware of do not come with any coupling functionality, so it's going to be full manual exposure setting.

Excellent video,Peter.I have a 20mm f/4 Flektagon that was made in East Germany at the old Leitz factory.Lovey lens but unlike the Tamron distortion is quite noticeable.Still can have a bit of fun with it though, colour rendition is superb.Hope you’re well!

Marvellous. Good to see some results from a cool lens. I'm saving for a 28mm 2.8 Nikon lens. I currently don't own a wide angle. Mick Rock used a 28mm in a lot of his portraits. I imagine you could get some pretty interesting results with your Tamron. Cheerio!

The 80B filter does not correct daylight film to tungsten lighting, which is the 85 filter series. It is just a color correction filter to take the red off sunset and sunrise photos. As to the lens, I've had this lens for use on Nikon bodies for many years. If you shop for one, notice that the earlier versions have the internal filters he shows here, whereas the later version omits the filters to save Tamron cost of manufacture. For normal uses, the lens is quite sharp, contrasty, and rectalinear, more so than most. Modern ultra-wide lenses will outclass it with their use of latest glass and optical designs that permits, but at a higher cost. The Tamron SP 17mm does have one major flaw, which a user must guard against. It is very vulnerable to lens flare if you get the sun directly in your image. I'm talking obvious, image wrecking flare.
