Thanks for supporting me on Patreon: www.patreon.co... In this honest review I ascertain if this tape is a good solution to rips and tears. This kind of gear damage is a significant problem for camping, hiking, traveling, or adventures into the backcountry, and I'm interested in exploring this cheap one-step repair item in detail. It works great in some applications and not so well in others. Also, compared to other common and repair tapes, price (even at $5) is a notable concern. I also discuss the Gear Aid and its parent company. Thanks for watching and subbing!

I have used Tenacious Tape to make repairs to tents, air beds (in combination with Seam Sealer), wet weather gear etc. and have found it to be a great tape for this purpose. They also have coloured tapes that may or may not match your material being repaired. They even have reflective tape that can be applied to your clothing to make it a little safer walking or biking along the road at night. I have it on my hats and a couple coats. The hats have been washed a number of times and the tapes shows no sign of coming off. As for the other tapes you showed thery all have a purpose, but none of the others were designed to be used where the Tenacious Tape was. Thanks for your video, it is good to see someone promoting(?) this product...or at least letting oters know it exists. Cheers.

Interesting stuff! Great review! Looks like it would be great for repairs to fabric while at home and great for hiking bags for similar repairs. Thanks for sharing!

I like the container and mat texture of this Tenacious Tape, but I swear by the Gorilla Glue Clear Repair Tape. I've repaired my tents, marine inflatables, screens, tarps, hammocks, etc with it and even my oldest repairs are still holding strong. Thx for the review

If you notice he never used Gorilla tape and when he used the regular stuff he took the loose end from the right that was loose and ripped it off easier while he did the opposite with the other expensive stuff.

Seems to cost twice as much here in the UK, but this stuff's invaluable for repairing tarp materials considering the outlay for new gear. From a bit of trial and error, best to apply it on the inside/non treated surface for sil nylon.

apples and oranges, why not compare it to gorilla clear repair tape, then you at least are comparing to products meant to do similar things...

I'm going with gorilla clear repair tape, 5 yards for $4.84, and it says on the packaging that it can be used for inflateables (such as air mattress pads)

Good review. I was playing with some gorilla tape last night. It's a badass tape. Puts regular duct to shame, but IMO it's no comparison for tenacious tape in the scenario of fabric repair. Guaranteed gorilla tape will only be a temporary (and not a good) repair on a fabric, but tenacious is well suited to it. I got some TT in the mail today and one comparison you should have done was a rip test. You said gorilla can be torn by hand and TT cannot. True, but try stabbing gorilla and then completing the cut. Very easy. TT will resist, though. You have to keep the pressure on. This mimics something like a thorn entering the tape material. GG is way cheaper, but I would consider the price difference analogous to the cost per minute of a cardiologist vs a janitor. If you need something cleaned, go with the janitor. If you need heart surgery spend the money. I think the relatively far more expensive TT serves a purpose if your situation demands a legitimate fabric repair.

Unfair test as he did not use the clear Gorilla tape which is better. Plus watch how he put on and removed the tapes differently.

Hey man great review not something you would want to use on everything but in those special purpose needs situations it looks like it would really do the trick. Have a good one.

Just bought some tenacious tape to repair a section of seam where the seam tape of my tents rainfly tore off. Its right next to the zipper on the rain fly ughh..Praying it will last a few years. As for gorilla tape, hate, love relationship! Lol Although gorilla tape is good in the fact it will nearly take the skin of your fingers after tearing off several pieces. It does not bond well for long periods of time. Duct tape does a much better job in my opinion! I work at a gym and we do use both. The gorilla tape just doesn't last and fresh pieces need to be reapplied sometimes just weeks after being applied. I though about buying a roll of real seam tape and ironing it on but was too worried about the location of my tent repair. Great review man! Love these kind of reviews.

It is a nice tape indeed and the only really useful info found on the web is in this video, thanks for efforts to make it, man! I can only share some more info. The clear color version is PVC based thin plastic. This presumes it will eventually become brittle when exposed to UV or freezing temperatures (regular outdoors conditions). Not a big deal since repaired item might be out of service by then and even if it is still being used you can just put another piece of Tenacious Tape. The even more expensive colored options of the tape are made "from real tent nylon fabric" so a bit more durable in this regard. The tape does not adhere very stronly to silnylon, in fact no tape does, silnylon is just too slippery. Tape is best to be applied on nylon and polyester fabric, cotton as well.

If you think that the difference in price between tenacious tape and gorilla tape is the container it comes in you have no idea what you’re talking about. tenacious state is essentially a tape made of ripstop synthetic fabric like what your tent, sleeping bag, or down jacket would be made of along with a very high-quality adhesive. gorilla tape, gorilla tape is not meant to be used to repair tents or similar items, nor is it as durable or waterproof, like tenacious tape is. is it overpriced perhaps, but it’s the best on the market and certainly isn’t comparable to gorilla tape.

did Tenacious Tape change their formula since this video was recorded? i recently bought 3x rolls of TT and found the tackiness to be really quite bad. i of course followed all instructions and despite 3x attempts i was oinly able to get the Tenacious Tape to semi-permanently cover a hole in the liner of a Barbour jacket. i must say i am not impressed, despite it's great reputation. just my $0.02c

I have a tear in a winter jacket. I think even if I taped it with Tenacious Tape, it might still look trashy. I don't really want it noticeable.. I wonder how it would look if i taped it from the inside of the sleeve, opposite side of where it was ripped. Thoughts?

You did not use the clear Gorilla tape! PLus you did not try it on other rips such as a tent. I also noticed you unfairly ripped off the tape from the right side that was not fully pressed in like you did with the ten tape.
