Also, as a dog trainer, I really appreciate how thoughtful and intentional you were with the different harnesses and transparency with the x-clip. I know a lot of people that wouldn’t consider the compatibility with different gear. Always impressed! 👌👌

Hands down a no from me for the X-clip. It has so much potential to get undone. I wouldn't really dare to use it on my 22kg+ rescue puppy (yet). As for the leash itself, looks fine, but I think it comes down to preference of leather or rope. I think it is a good thing that it's adjustable, since in some situations you'd want to have your dog closer to you, maybe when walking in high-traffic areas (not only bikes and other vehicles but also lots of pedestrians). So I find that a good positive. I wouldve maybe prefered to see something like a ripstop point/-s attached though? The carabiner is and looks awesome. I can see that some dogs in some situations just needs a few minutes of management and this would be pretty ok to use and since it's quite large - to use it for other stuff as well, like you mentioned, a shopping bag or whatnot.

X clip is perfectly fine, that knot isn't going anywhere, if your pup is a puller, then it'll only tighten the knot, but ideally you don't want your dog to pull. I've used this for a few years, all I've ever had to do was check to make sure the knot is secure before i leash up my dog... It always is. I prefer any leash I can knot myself, this way I know that my dog is secure , especially when she was in training, it was peace of mind to know my dog wouldn't destroy my leash by pulling excessively.

Your videos are awesome! We watched at least 10-15 of them before realizing that you’re within two hours of us!

Can't wait for a video on leash handling positions. Gotta say though the horse trainer in me couldn't get over putting fingers in loops, that's how cowboys loose fingers...

I totally agree about rope leashes. I'm not a fan. I also have small hands, so my go to is a 1/2 inch leather leash! Can't wait to share your upcoming leash handling video!

Bonus. If you’re mugged while walking your dog this gives you a mean right to crack the offender and get away with your dog safely.

@@SimpawticoDogTraining especially if you have a very un-intimidating dog, helpful! I have a GSD (sweet, docile but active) and people cross the street and get out of my way like I’m a king or something lol

Can you please make a more in-depth video on teaching your dog to be gentle with the furry toy and what appropriate interaction would look like? Also interacting and learning to be gentle with a cat please 🥰 we love your videos they have been super helpful!

Have been watching your video's the last 7 months. My family and I brought a Golden Ret. and she is 9 mths. she is entering the Teen age of behavior. Would love tips on how to manager the behavior. I have learned a lot from your videos.

I have a Golden Retriever also, he is 7 mths. He is a jumper when people come over to visit! He pulls when walking or when he goes outside! He doesn’t come when you need him, he is a biter I have had Golden’s and this is the worse one

great vid thanks! seems like over engineering for a problem that doesnt exist. i am a dog walker that walks a lot of high energy dogs that need to come off the lead i wide open countryside but who i need to occasionally clip back on at short notice when i see other people/dogs approach. that clip looks way harder to quickly clip onto a collar/harness than a regular spring/trigger clasp. id also be way more annoyed when i inevitably drop it somewhere on a hike. that might just be me i lose a lead a month 😬
@SimpawticoDogTraining3 жыл бұрын
HAHA I could see me doing that-totally misplacing it somewhere completely mundane.

Hm, I think the carabiner might be really useful, if you're keeping your dog's leash attached to your belt, like Zak George does, for example. He likes to do that as an extra security, and given that you can add keys and bags to the clip, it seems to me like it could be really utilitarian. Mind you, I don't have a dog, so I can't speak from personal experience (I guess it says something that I watch you review something that I have zero use for.. 😅), just something that went through my mind while watching this video..
@SimpawticoDogTraining3 жыл бұрын
Yeah in that regard you could absolutely clip to yourself like that. That carabiner really is pretty neat, albeit heavy.
