Thanks, hard to find much technical info on older machines

Thanks for the review. The Heston seems like a very good machine. I've been using an older MF 725 from the 80's and felt that it has a lot of convenience features - like the manufacturer put some thought into it.

This summer will be my first attempt on baling my own hay. I just bought two Hesston 1110’s at auction one is for parts only and the other they said was field ready this video made me feel so much better about my purchase! Thanks for a great video. Got two at auction for $850 I’m located in Indiana

We never used the Hesston 1110, but we did have a PT10. We did have issues with the bearings going out, but we did use the tar out of it. Later we got a John Deere 1209, it does have the wobble box, costly and a little difficult to change in the field. Currently we use a discbine Case IH 8309, it has the steel/rubber roller setup. I like it pretty good, cuts about 1.5 to 2 times faster than the haybines. Thanks have a good one.

That Hesston looks like a really nice machine. I never cared for NH wobble drive either.

Great tutorial on the Heston with great information. One thing I would like to know is how do you remove the knife section and sharpen the sections. Thanks for a great video.
@HumbleHaymakers Жыл бұрын
The knife section unbolting from the half swaybar and slides out the side of the machine. Over serrated sections do not need sharpened, they are constantly honed as they rub against the sickle guard/ledger.

I never knew a Hesston haybine was a re-branded case. Seems like it has some unique features. Are parts still readily available?
@HumbleHaymakers Жыл бұрын
Case is the rebranded one. As far as I know, parts are available. I order from Messicks under the CaseIH model number.

I have a Hesston 1091 I'm redoing! The sickle drive broke (the drive shaft fell off the pulley) and I can't get the flywheel off.... any suggestions on how to take that section apart? I bought mine before I knew too much and it flew apart after 2acres of hay this season :/ It was cheap tho so I can't complain!

I'll be driving an hour and a half to pick up a Case 8320 (newer version of this Hesston 1110) and was wondering if you had quick access to the outside width of the tires and a dimension from the ground up to the frame just outside the tires (looks to be about 4-5"?). I'd really like to use our tandem axle car hauler to pick this up as opposed to renting a deck over/flat bed trailer. I did find in the manual that the tread width is 75 1/2" but not sure if that's centers or out to out. Any help would be appreciated. Also have watched a dozen of your videos and really liked the one talking about the farm as a business and taxes. My brother and I started a small beef enterprise last year and are baling our own hay. Last year we got by with our grandpas old NH 470 sickle bar mower but would like something a little nicer.

I’m not anywhere close to the Hesston at the moment and for several days, but I would think the wheel to wheel is a center to center dimension. I towed mine home, over an hour. Watch out for mail boxes if you try... Thx for watching...👍

Nice review. I recently bought a 1110. The sickle section sounds like a machine gun while running. I'm reading that the sway bars need to be rebuilt. Ever have any issues like that, or rebuilt one? Im having trouble finding parts.
@HumbleHaymakers Жыл бұрын
Yes - mine was like that. Parts can be found from Messicks via the CaseIH 8320 which I believe is the same machine - easy fix

Where did you find the replacement sway bar links? I need to rebuild mine.

Messicks - the Hesston clone is a CaseIH 8320 if I recall correctly. Best of luck…👍
