Another delightful video! You always seem to make me more relaxed about my painting, you have a soothing way of even dealing with mishaps. The markers look like fun. I think your painting was beautiful at all stages! The scenery there is spectacular! What a joy it must be to just sit there and drink it all in. Thanks for sharing, Sarah

The whole time you were painting with the brush, I was seriously like, "oh I think she forgot the paint is gonna leak out-- all the markers are horizontal 😰." Most people that I see using acrylic markers definitely do more graphic style art with them. Despite the mess, it was nice to see you get into a nice groove with the markers for your style of work.

Yea I totally got sucked into the zone and forgot about the leak 🙃

Beautiful Sarah! My OCD probably would deter me from using such a messy tool - but you have such a wonderful talent and technique to get through any struggles for such a lovely result. Awesome footage btw (loved the bee!). You are so lucky to be in such a breathtaking place however my acrophobia would have me no nearer the edge of that cliff than the footpath!

I liked the first layer. You could have done this as a quick painting episode and gone no further and I would have been pleased with what you showed us. It is different than your other paintings, but it clearly represented the same thing as the final painting, but was more emotive and playful. You should make more work you don't like!

Haha "shoulda coulda!" The thing is, we each have our own aesthetic, and I'll always strive to meet mine

I have used acrylic markers for some acrylic projects that I needed precision with. Sometimes drawing with a brush doesn’t get the precision I want. I’ll admit I’ve never used them plein air though. And tbh I get nervous about the inability to erase. My drawings don’t always come out perfect! Haha.

I have used these in the studio with far less mess and they are so enjoyable!

Your first layer- my finished painting after hours of wrestling with it ! 🤣 You mentioned thinking of it as a kindergarten painting, did you know you could turn it around in the end? When one actually has to give up and start anew? Beautiful painting and beautiful scenery,your films remind me of "Planet Earth" narrated by David Attenborough, especially scenic footage with a drone! Thank you for this trip to the seaside, I enjoyed every second of it! 💖 P.S. my daughter calls you " a lady who carries lots of art supplies in her backpack and has a shed with spiders for drying her paintings" 🤣 Yep, sorry about that!
@SarahBurnsStudio3 жыл бұрын
Yes I knew I could 'fix it' because it's an opaque medium, yay! But I just had to get over the initial tantrum lol. And I totally agree with that title 🤣
@ellenp74553 жыл бұрын
@@SarahBurnsStudio Oh, yeah...I keep forgetting that some paints are opaque.😄 But even so, I think I heard you mentioning the danger of "overworking" the gouache painting, gouache is opaque 🙄 How do you know that one's painting is overworked? ( Is that even a sentence? It's all this heat..🤣)
@SarahBurnsStudio3 жыл бұрын
Ohhhh I see..overworking it is another issue 😄 honestly I just go with my gut. Looking away frequently to give my eyes a rest. Then suddenly I see it for what it is. Doing this helps to avoid drowning in the painting. So yea just take lots of mini breaks after painting for a while.
@ellenp74553 жыл бұрын
@@SarahBurnsStudio Yet another issue?! Oh, dear.. It's beginning to look more and more like a minefield!🤣 But it's so much fun! Even if I started a painting as a forest and got a lake in the end 😄 Will endeavour to get breaks while painting, I usually try to sprint to the finish line ,so to speak! Thank you for answering! 💖

Hi Sarah! Thank you so much for sharing your journey as an artist on KZbin! It is really inspiring to watch your videos :) Wondering after seeing this video about whether you'd be interested in also trying out alcohol-based markers (like Copic markers) to make watercolour like paintings?
@SarahBurnsStudio3 жыл бұрын
To be honest I'm not really interested in copics or similar. Maybe just grey, for value studies 🤔

I don't care for acrylic bc of the plastic but this is a wild idea! I can really appreciate your efforts as an artist to persevere and create in different ways and mediums and finding solutions to challenges. You are an amazing person. I also think the painting came out beautifully. :) Can I ask how long you spent on it? Take care.

Sorry I am late. I just found your channel and I love your work. I thought the painting looked great before and after. Very expressive. But I also noticed that this was your only video about working with the acrylic markers (or at least the only one with "acrylic markers" in the title. Did you give up on them? Just curious because I was debating between buying ready made (which seem mostly pastel or neon) or making my own.

o just bought some paint markers 2 sets of 30i got to thinking what else could i use and remember i have a wait for it......a crayola marker maker kit! going to try a couple with acrylic paint and flowsall by luixuatec that's not how u spell that oh well , also going to try india ink and liquid watercolors gonna get a puppy pad from ex hubby i will definitely make a mess but also it seems fun i wonder if ivan do it with gouache.... does anyone think it would work ? great video and i think it was working well even in the beginning i have to practice painting fast i'm great under pressure the fact that i haven't lost my mind, so the kit only comes with enough , not to make 3 markers i can't stop giggling
@SarahBurnsStudio3 жыл бұрын
Since gouache dries fast, I think it would clog the markers. You definitely need "high flow" paint.
@nafordebi3 жыл бұрын
@@SarahBurnsStudio that's what i thought lol, i have acrylic very flown and liquid ex flow aid going to try that and i found the other 12 barrels silly girl i forgot there was a glade bottom in the marker maker that never made into christmas present for my 19 ur old grand daughter,using the paint markers i bought was a learning curve u have to have a light hand or at least with cellulose paper it tears up the fibers if u go too hard , that painting came out so pretty if u make prints i need one definetly , thanks for the advice sarah, it was very informative as always

U see how u had to keep pumping the marker like that? Its not suppose to be like that. All streaky n stuff. Suppose to be nice n solid. U can mix water with it but it wont be as pigmented. Thats how the highflow paint is in the marker, its not good. Only high flow color that works in markers is the black. Just dump all the paint out ur markers n clean ur nibs n get some montana or molotow paint. I promise the results are much better

I think they weren't fully activated yet. But I've been using them in a studio and they flow super well. After I run out of paint I'll probably try the other brand paint too.
