I miss the Tool kits they made. Gave you more flexibility in deck building as well and you also got 4 pacs for around $20. But that was a decade ago. This stuff is so skimpy!

I really miss the Core Sets Starter Kits are fun and cool but it feels silly to give the newcomer a deck with counters and no dice

The core sets helped me get into magic, and build my collection of staples. The fact that we haven't done a real core set in like 3 years is a bummer.

Damn I really miss those. Started playing with those at age of 8 or 9, did not understand the whole strategy of the game but is was awesome lol plus decks had a proper sinergy/theme without being way strong, so matches would never end before turn 5

You can’t even use the prowler right? There are no spells in the deck that are 5 or greater

HELP guys, me and my girlfriend are looking into starting Magic the Gathering, we will be playing mostly standard, since at the beginning is just the two of us. Since we live in Brazil, the price of this for us is multiplied by 5x in our currency. I've looked into all starter kits and this seems like the most FUN of the recent ones, is that correct? Is this starter kit a good way to start playing the game and learning the core mechanics? I'm thinking on buying this starter kit plus another starter kit maybe or another plus 2 decks so we can swap decks for more diversity in play, is that a good idea?

i think that the cards are hidden to not damage them they used to add more plastic like small translucent cover so they could't show you the cool foil and the card wouldn't get damaged if let's say it hit a surface, so i think this weird designer is safer and takes less plastics of course you are corect that showing those cards would be better

Fair. It never even crossed my mind that it was for protection. I don't think I've ever opened a damaged card in the old package designs. Still think they should show off the cards on the front. That's what entices people at the store.

Why do they advertise it as a "Wilds of Eldraine" starter kit, when it contains cards from son many other sets?

I think it's just to signify that it was "last updated" with the release of Wilds of Eldraine. Kind of like the Eldraine Commander Decks. It's got some new pieces.
