[REVIEW] Ys X: Nordics | Could this be the greatest Ys game to date?

I have liked boat combat since i started it. I see no problem with it. The boat is slow but its a sail boat so yeah.

Small note on 6:03 about the blocking power attack that was missed. the other (more important situation) is when one of your characters is knocked out you won't be able to guard power attacks.

I know it sounds wierd but this is one game i genuinely don't want to end 😭 ironically ys's old styled graphics and old school rpg feel takes me back to playing rpgs on my psp. It hits me on such a personal level. The music is also a fucking banger

Nordics is great, and so is monstrum nox, but lacrymosa of dana set the bar pretty high. It's still my favorite. The psp games are awesome too. 😊

Y's 9 is a great game, dude!!!! Way better than 8. Y'S 8 was severely overrated. This game seems like a step back from 9 from what I've seen. However, the most intriguing thing to me is the boat levels. That's new. Ys games are known for doing something new with every title, which I can definitely respect. The music also seems like a serious step back as well. I think with ys 9, they threw everything at that game. I don't know why youtubers give 9 so much flack? It's actually one of the best games in the series, really. In all honesty though, I will reserve judgment until I fully play the game.

I'm so excited for this. I did my Ys deep dive last year. I even played the three iterations of Ys IV. Most of them were great. I'm expecting cohesive team attacks, rich engaging story I can get lost in and that bumpin Falcom soundtrack

No. I like Nordics but it is really badly paced and overflowing with pointless dialog. And while the combat is good, it lacks the variety of Ys8. And the upgrade tree is painful. It’s just not needed. I liked Ys 9 but X, like 9, is overcooked. Ys 8 is the best by a comfortable margin.

That pacing is only at the beginning. It mellows out afterwards. I found the skill tree kind of a strange implication as well

I hope Adol can keep the Mana and the Fire ability's I know he has to get weaker again. But Atleast let him the fire :D My older Sister borught me into the games. I started witch Nordics then Memories of Celceta -> Dana -> Monstrus of Nox. And I am sad that Dogi is no playable character. :( But Nordics has the Worst "skill tree" so far.

Unfortunately no, only specific ones. Thats one of my major disappointments for falcom games. I like to explore the communities. Though there are only a handful of settlements so it isn’t a huge loss

@@Shinky It's not just a problem with Falcom games; many JRPGs don't allow house exploration. Just look at Final Fantasy Rebirth or Eiyuden Chronicle. Most houses in the cities can't be explored and are just for decoration.

Love falcom games and ys 8 is one of my favourite game ever. I m playing the demo on ps4 (i am at chapter 3)and there are too many dialogues... Maybe i prefer the old combat system with party, flash guard and flash moves. Anyway combat system is good. I expected something more from graphic and from ost (usually falcom games have great ost.. Ys 8 one was a masterpiece ) . I ll buy it when it will be on sale.

I thought it was medium at best, combat is boring, didnt upgrade nor uses any skill tree, just spamming the locked abilities, i abandoned it on chapter 5, so dissapointed after 8 and 9

The skill tree really doesn’t add a HUGE amount, but I can understand why you might prefer Ys 8 or 9 over this.

@@ShinkyI hope the story is relatable, only touched the demo though. I loved the family/community aspect of VIII & IX. There were times when I smiled, laughed, cried, got angry, pity, got curious, got fascinated... tons of emotions. That's why I RPG, for the play of words and circumstances. Once I finish the game, I crank up the difficulty and play of logics & commands mentality kick in.

The story isn’t crazy fantastic but I enjoyed it. It does have emotional highs and lows, and does feature family and love as primary focuses. I think you’ll like it
