I think you're dreaming. If I put this speaker in a room let's say the living room, then go to the dining room i will not get the same sound experience. Especially if the dining room has a wall in between and a little ways away. So it isn't true sound around the home. Just one room getting the best sound while the others just get some sound. So I would think to get the best sound quality around the home multiple speakers is needed. That is why this is not for the regular Joe who loves good sounding music. This is for a deep pocket person who can afford them. My choice of speakers through the house would be the Harmon Kardon studio onyx 4 speakers. The HKs are affordable and sound really nice. The fact that this price is ridiculous considering that there are many comparable sounding speakers for far less in price.
@ethearnos63973 жыл бұрын
@@juanpaulr dude the onyx 4 only comes with a fraction of the sound quality of the phantom
@kunchography37257 жыл бұрын
As I see so many times. Testing this on the floor is the biggest mistake you could possibly make. It is designed to output sound in all directions with zero diffraction. On the floor the sound has less travel and cannot flow the way it was intended. The shape of the unit itself is also very specific to the way the sound flows out from the device. It needs to be at ear level, and on a stand that is not wider than the Phantom itself. This will actually create a soundstage and not just some boom box effect as the sound gets deflected unevenly from the ground.

I heard them about a week back... Yes they are no where near the sound a similarly priced system can get... bass and extension of it is very good... but as correctly mentioned in this they do sound muffled... Also as i heard one single speaker... and i am kind of sure that it was no good in stereo imaging... a pair of this will help the performance considerably... but still will fail to match the sound from a 2000 dollar system... and not to forget the pair makes it 4000 dollars and on top of that 500 more to have the central dock that syncs them as left or right... This speaker has thre things going for it in descending order... 1. Bass performance 2. Brand name... 3. Looks... Nothing against Devialet but for the price meet the Dr. Dre of blue tooth speakers...

Testing a speaker on the floor that is an all in one unit is completely wrong and will not produce acceptable results. The rules apply to this speaker when it comes to positioning and reference distance, just as it does to many many other audiophile reference speakers. The perfect setup for this is ear height, on a stand that is not wider from the sides, back, or front than the unit itself, as the woofers are actually producing subwoofer bass with an extremely pressurised and sealed aspect to them. They produce optimal results when they can fire with zero diffraction from every angle. This also counts for the tweeter and mid range. They should not be too close to anything on the side, top, or bottom of the unit if you want optimal results. Considering he is streaming over Bluetooth to a speaker that uses analogue audio I am not surprised that content could sound muffled. This speaker is intended to play high quality audio sources through Optical, Wi-Fi, or Ethernet. Bluetooth is included because at the price it would be subpar to not include all major formats as a matter of convenience.

Justin Hunting haha. He does sound like ten a bit. But your wrong. I listened to a pair of speakers worth 3 times as much as the phantom Golds and the phantoms sounded far better, more dynamic and alive. They are the best in their price range.

Is this brand just really pretentious, or is it worth the price?
@kunchography37257 жыл бұрын
I would say it is more than worth the price. They have been making world renowned audiophile amplifiers for many years now (Devialet Expert Range) and they are considers the absolute best of the best when it comes to replicating a real performance. These Phantoms use almost 90% of all the technology in those amplifiers but in Devialet's form of the most ideal speaker ever created for THAT technology. Which as it stands, that technology is the best on the market, so they're in every right to say it's the best speaker, but of course not everyone will agree. I know many long time audiophiles that have sold off their whole setup for a pair of these Phantom's, so for me (personally) that is saying something about them.

What's the point of this being a bluetooth device? It's not portable in any way and a simple cable connection would improve the sound greatly. The average user of bluetooth speakers is going to play crap mp3 files anyways, which denies the necessity of such an expensive product.
@kunchography37257 жыл бұрын
It is not a Bluetooth device. It just has Bluetooth as an added bonus, because you would expect all major formats for a $3000 speaker. It supports, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, PowerLine, Bluetooth, AirPlay, Internet streaming, and local media library playback, as well as Optical input.
@GulagExpress17 жыл бұрын
Phantom-Atic ~ Even worse! According to what I've heared from Phantom users, this thing uses up tremendous ammounts of data. Some people even recommended to set up a whole dedicated network for it, because otherwise any other device in the same network would've been considerably slowed down. Yes, it does offer an optical connection, but if you used that you could aswell just get a quality-wise much better wired speaker setup.
@kunchography37257 жыл бұрын
What? That is bullshit. What amount of data could a speaker be receiving that is going to bring down your network? The thing streams music, not 8K cinema content at gigabytes per file. Just music. If it's bringing down your network then idk how that network handles any kind of downloading. Even in saying that, IF, in that case, IF, your network couldn't handle it that is a bonus reason to buy the Dialogue. It puts Phantom on it's own network, and all internet data goes from the Dialogue once, to all the speakers. Why? These speakers are designed to be placed, and left there, not moved around. Optical is not a hinder of operation. It offers high quality audio, and does so seamlessly because the wireless nature of the system allows that one Optical input to be sent to a stereo pair, or up to 22 other Phantoms in the home. And the default connection method for Phantom as a pair is Powerline. So they communicate through their power cables and your electrical wiring. This eliminates Wi-Fi or any additional wiring. I don't see the issue here.

The figures given by Devialet are completely bogus. They are known liars. For instance, $25M in R&D since 10 years ? LOL Devialet was created in 2007 and their wikipedia page (which is itself an advertisement) says their sales were €10M in 2014, €5M in 2013 and €3.5M in 2012. There is simply no way they could have spent $25M on this product. And tbh if that was what it cost them to make it, they are incredibly bad engineers. BTW, in this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/epWlXmRorLeKkKc, one of the bosses explains they did 3 years of R&D. But he also says it's the "world's best speaker", no less, and that it has "the best measurements of any speaker". Devialet really has a problem with truth. You can fairly assume that their claims about patents are just as bogus.
@kunchography37257 жыл бұрын
But yet they sell amplifiers (and a considerable amount of them) which are priced from $10,000 to over $50,000 each (often with higher end setups a purchase of two amplifiers for a dual mono setup)? How could it be unrealistic that they made that much money? Phantom didn't launch until late 2015.

@kunchography37257 жыл бұрын
Well actually, it is an analogue audio speaker, at audiophile reference listening levels in terms of sound quality. The bass is shown off a lot because it's unique having subwoofer bass in a unit the size of a bowling ball, that actually shows the bass performance as it is played. Devialet have done what nobody else has yet and figured out how to get actual audiophile subwoofer bass output from this 6 litre enclosure. The woofers are aluminium and are magnetically linked to the structural integrity of the casing to allow heat to flow from them to the heatsink of the unit. They're also laser tuned individually in factory to account for any manufacturing inconsistencies. They use analogue amplifiers from their Expert Range of audiophile amplifiers. The case itself is shaped to remove diffraction of sound waves as they travel through it and out the three central points of the unit. The bass legitimately plays down to 16Hz, and has absolutely zero distortion or muffling. The rest of the audio is just as advance. Aluminium or Titanium tweeter, aluminium mid range. With individual laser tuning on each. With analogue output, ect.. ect..
