i had such similar feelings about One Last Stop - thank you for putting it into such a succinct way! ALSO, THE SUBWAY THING - like it was dirty AND so packed with people at times when they were doing stuff!!

I really appreciate how thoughtful your reviews are. They definitely steer me toward or away from titles. Please, accept my sympathies on the passing of your uncle. I also hope your family members are now feeling better.

Thanks for the reviews. I also thought White Tears, Brown Scars was good. I plan to pick up the Mackesy book. That sort of line art is very popular currently - a lot of bujo artists use it at times.

I absolutely loved white tears brown scars. I think its a good intro text for intersectional feminism, but I agree that it could've went more in depth on certain things

Whoa, that really is a lot! Sorry to hear about your uncle and your family members getting sick. Rafe is a great book for a pick-me-up, though! I love all the mature discussions and focus on communication and consent. If you haven't read her Cowboys of California series, that one is great too!

I Love your thoughts on all of these and completely understand what you mean about it being easier to make content for Tik Tok. It just is and you do a fabulous job on both platforms.

oooh Sisters in Arms is on my list, so interested to hear your thoughts on that one if you pick it up! White Tears/Brown Scars and On Juneteenth are also both on my list, glad to hear they worked so well for you! Yeah, I also think Conversations With a Black Man is an example of a nonfiction that isn't groundbreaking for most people but is really well thought-out and put together. I especially appreciated those specific action items/places to start at the end of each chapter, I feel like it's less common for nonfiction to include those and I'd like to see that more often. So sorry about what a rough and stressful time you've been having!! hope things are looking up 💕 Also as always you look gorgeous! love the watermelon eyeshadow vibes and those earrings 😍

Thank you! I'd never heard the phrase yellow filter before so now I'm on a Marines-inspired learning quest. You rock. *I'm really bad about offering suggestions at the wrong time, like whenever there's a discussion of the presentation of "third world" countries through an American lens, I'm always like: there should be a Real Housewives of Monterey, Mexico! And nobody has ever been like, "yes I agree." It's always crickets. Am I the a$*hole?

I agree with the boy the mole... I liked it but people definitely hype it as more than it is! Even though it is good. Also i was hope she would talk about why she gave arsenic and adobo one star on gr :S
@mynameismarines3 жыл бұрын
That was an accident!! I finished it on Kindle and I didn’t even know it marked it as read on GR. I gave that like 3.5 stars. It will be in my July wrap up. 🥰

Someone said to me One Last Stop didn't represent Brooklyn properly especially with the use of the Q line so for people who know New York its confusing. I also don't know what's with Casey and interracial relationships and then a cast of back drop BIPOC characters with no sensitivity readers. Also with August being from New Orleans, I wanted full flesh New Orleans accent and somewhat of a personality but we don't get that. I love your laugh progression!

Your subway comment made me giggle. I am a germaphobe, and is nice to see people talk about hygiene and intimacy in ways that make sens to me. ☺

I was so bored while reading One last stop, it's so slow in the beginning and the chapters were so long. I'm sure it's hard to write a character that is stuck in one place but Jane barely had a personality and like you said the others were just defined by one character trait.
@moustik313 жыл бұрын
You really have a nice flaw when talking, a well-modulated voice and a clear way to express yourself. I'm not saying this, in a White condescending kind of way (you know the one, when they are surprised a BIPOC woman is able to speak good English). I genuinely think you are really good at this craft and it's very pleasant to listen to you. So much, that I'm taking notes from your videos to learn to be a better book reviewer. (I have a Booksta page). Be blessed, 💜

You got me curious about "white tears, brown scars". It's going to my TBR pile. Have you read "Hood feminism"? I've been reading it, and it seems an interesting collection of essays about intersectional feminism. As a white European female, I find it gives me a lot to think about. I would love to ear your review.
