Hannah, have you ever tried a bag of tiny wrapped cotton “masks” from Amazon? They don’t have any ingredients in them. They’re just cotton, but when you place one under running water they open up and you place it on your skin to lock in serums/creams you already are using. You can also dip the mask directly into product and then apply it. I love them. So cheap.

@@HannahLouisePoston i think I recommended these under a different video, but definitely look into White Rabbit! They make Stripped (which would be strips of cotton for this purpose), are Asian-owned, and 100% biodegradable cotton! They’re also much less linty than many other cotton product brands, which I love

for oily tubs i have a tip: use lots of dishwashing soap and NO WATER. emulsify them and then rinse of with water: no scrubing required. (works for greasy pans too). The reason it works is that water and oil don't mix but soap and oil does and so does soap and water. So excessive amount of soap binds to the oil and then the water when you go in to rinse it off. if it does not work you need more soap! it is THE fastest way i have tried to get slippery/oily/greasy thing of anything. (for me conditioners leave my bathroom floor oily sometimes and again i use it for pans since i dislike scrubing stuff).

I appreciate your thoughts on the Tatcha products! I just bought full sizes of the dewy skin cream and matching cleanser to celebrate a new job and have been using them for a few weeks now. While I will say I have had a very different experience (I have some persistent acne along my jawline throughout the pandemic that the Tatcha products have significantly minimized, something no other product I’ve used has accomplished), I found your observations on them super insightful. It’s an important reminder that not all skin responds the same way to products.

I did a really good job of cutting my skincare routine down to mostly products that are in the low-mid price range, but like an absolute madperson I tried a cleansing balm from an indie brand started by a skincare blogger/instagrammer I follow some years ago and I haven't been able to find anything that motivates me to do my nightly routine the same way it does, and so it's become invaluable to me simply because of that. I've tried numerous cheaper cleansing oils/balms over the last few years and used up many of them, but nothing has taken that product's place and I had to realize that if you can afford it and it has a real, true place in your life for whatever reason, it's ok to sometimes just keep buying the thing. It's pricey, but a jar lasts me a number of months when used properly, and pretty much everything else that goes on my face is economical for me to use on a daily basis without breaking the bank.

The only skincare product I have ever tried that really gave me overnight results is the farmacy niacinamide night mask. I think I got a sample bottle of it somehow and then when I used that up I purchased a full size. I can't recommend it enough and plan on gifting it to a few people for Christmas. When I use it my skin looks refreshed/)ess red and my pores literally shrink overnight. I always properly prep the skin to receive it but it's definitely a holy grail.... And it got to that status pretty much overnight the very first time I used it.

I got those same two Tatcha samples for my birthday as well, and I was so disappointed because the dewy skin cream they sent me was...off. I don't know if it was expired or what happened, but the texture was way thicker than normal, almost like putty. I saw reviews on Sephora complaining about the same thing, so it seems like some people got a bad batch. I tend to agree with your opinion on Tatcha in general though (at least, for the products that *hadn't* gone bad that i've tried)--the products smell lovely and feel wonderful, but I don't think they are giving results that are worth the price.

Super late comment but... Dr. Teal's Epsom salts in Milk & Honey is the best out of all of them. Everytime I use it I get asked about what that wonderful scent is in my bathroom. It's one of my most favorite smells ever. It's hard to find sometimes though but if you see it, you need to try it. I wish there was a sort of home spray or perfume of it. I don't care for any of their other scents much as they seem more artificial but the milk & honey is very soft and natural.

I am still trying to wrap my head around the fact that you moved from one of the driest climates in the U.S. to one of the most humid/damp and your skin went crazy DRY? The only thing I can think is that somehow one skin messed with your moisture barrier. Because the moisture barrier keeps moisture out as well and too much moisture can cause massive irritation in the skin. It's like you got chillblains. How Jane Eyre of you.

i can’t use bath salts because they make me high, or something similar to that. i never believed the phrase “high on bath salts” until i used some that my dads doctor gave him. worst experience ever, for me personally. but i do treat myself to baths, and expensive bath products every now and then because i do love the self care of it all

I just bought the OneSkin. PennSmith skincare raves about it. It has dna 🧬 in it and tons of science backed ingredients so it’s supposed to be amazing! I’m 54! We will see!!

If you want a luxurious lovely bath experienced:Naturopathica birch and magnesium flakes. Heavenly. Caveat: it’s all a sensory experience, absolutely no data to back claims about epsom salts and magnesium doing anything for you in a bath. But the product I just mentioned is so delicious! You can make your own by buying magnesium flakes in bulk and adding birch essential oil but I love the packaging in the Naturopathica glass jar.
