Sanderson nerd here. Yes, Alloy of law was originally going to be a stand alone! And Steris was purposefully written as autistic!! Which I love as a fellow autistic.

I am currently on my 11th Brandon Sanderson book of the year thanks to your recommendations at the start of the year! And I've also read 10 Sarah J Maas books in the last year and a bit thanks to The Common Room! In the acknowledgments of Rhythm of War, Brandon Sanderson thanks his expert on Dissociative Identity Disorder, so I'm guessing that's what he had in mind for Shallan, which is explored in a very interesting way.

I love that you've gone down the sanderson rabbit hole. I agree that the stormlight archive is better than the mistborn series. The main characters are much more developed. I find Wax tedious. Steris is such an interesting character. Absolutely, the voice actors or authors can make or break a book. My current favorite narrator is Jeff Hays in "Dungeon Crawler Carl " series. Highly recommend that series.

Yeah I don’t really care for Wax or many of the main characters in Mistborn the same way I care about Jasnah lol

I came from your main channel after your recent update video, and omg I had no idea you were also into reading! I watch booktube videos everyday so at first I thought this was one of those channels before I saw your face in the thumbnail, what a lovely surprise. Words of Radiance is my favourite in the Stormlight Archive too! I think my favourite BrandoSando book of all time is Elantris-followed closely by Warbreaker-but that's definitely an unpopular opinion in the book community ;-;

I love Sanderson books and just finished Oathbringer. Though Mistborn didn't really work for me, as someone with systemic metal allergies the ingesting-metal-leading-to-physical-effects part was quite triggering to me 😅

Twinsies on that Daisy Jones experience. Listened to the book about 2 weeks before the show came out, and WHAT a mistake! I do hope to try the show again in 2024, now that I feel like my initial rage and opinionating has died down.

I normally really struggle with audiobooks but the audiobooks of Gideon the Ninth/The Locked Tomb series are INCREDIBLE. Like you mentioned, one narrator but each voice is so distinct and designed with such care.

Warbreaker is great, and I also really liked Elantris (which some people Say isn't as good, since it was a debut). I'm catching UP on everyrhing Sanderson, and can't wait for book 5 of SA!

Yes! I cannot wait for Stormlight 5. I’m among those who did not care for Elantris very much. Hannah, if you’re wanting more Stormlight, definitely check out Edgedancer (Book 2.5) and Dawnshard (Book 3.5). I ❤❤❤ the deep dive into the side characters in those shorter books.

Lol, yeah, Mistborn was supposed to be 3 trilogies, and the current era 2 was not one of the eras. haha. And yeah after Alloy of Law for fun he realized that was going to be a full series. For a bit we called it era 1.5 when it was just AoL, but it's officially era 2 now and Mistborn will be at least 4 series. haha Also, he did a screenplay for mistborn era 1 for fun, and he gender swapped Dox and Ham, b/c he also knows that the rep in era 1 wasnt good. haha

Well what a coincidence, I also got sucked into the Brando Sando cosmere when I was pregnant with my first child. Now, nearly 5 years later I have read probably 90% of his books 😂❤ favorites are Warbreaker and the Mistborn series. There is a fans podcast which I HIGHLY recommend, love to listen to that (it's called 17th shard). Audiobooks are not for me though, I can't focus on them. Kindle ebooks it is for me as preferred medium. Also this purple suits you really well 💜

As a fellow Cosmere lover who was converted by my partner I loved this video. I totally agree with the representations of mental health in Stormlight I think it’s very clever! Based on the other books you’ve read I’d highly recommend Tress of the Emerald Sea it’s one of the Secret Project books Sanderson released this year snd one of my favourites of his!

Big Sanderson fan, so happy you read all of these 😁 Steris was written as an autistic person, Sanderson mentioned it in one of the interviews. Btw, I love her character, she's the best and has such a great story in the last 2nd Era book 😊

I think I remember hearing in one of Sanderson's podcast that after getting neuro divergence very wrong in one of his early books (I don't remember if he mentioned which, but a character in Elantris is a likely candidate) he has made a conscious effort to make sure that he has good representation in his further work.

I did and loved the mistborn series this year too! If you love Michael and Kates narration, they also did my favorite fantasy series of the year, Shades Of Magic by VE Schwab. It was wild going from just intrinsically knowing Michael Kramers voice as the voice of the cosmere, to hearing him curse and be a smart mouthed gay prince 😂

You know, I was able to hit 100 books this year (especially since I've incorporated nonfiction audiobooks when I'm working from home), but I still haven't managed to finish Words of Radiance after starting it in the spring 🤣 I loved Mistborn a few years ago (with similar feelings about second era, especially Steris), and Tress of the Emerald Sea is one of my top 5 books this year! But every time I pick up WoR, my brain goes on the fritz and I suddenly discover I've read 3 romance novels, lol.

I agree with you about Oathbringer. The ending was incredible (as always with Sanderson endings) but that book was a slog. I love the Stormlight Archive overall though, and book 4 might be my favourite so far. Navani is a total powerhouse! Edit: regarding Mistborn Era 2, I strongly suggest reading the White Sand books (audible has them as Full-Cast Audio stories) before reading The Lost Metal. Things will make more sense if read in that order.
