Right now, Bednar is pouring chicken soup down that poor man's throat like there's no tomorrow. I love Georgiev. He seems like a real mensch and a great teammate. But he's not a goalie capable of getting the Avs to the final. He's just... not.

Won't matter, the avalanche team defense the last few weeks has been non existent. The AVS basically have taken the last few weeks of the reg season off that caused Georgie to lose his confidence. Look at Manson passing to the slot n MacKinnon just doing a lil poke check as someone skates to the net is just absolutely lazy pathetic defense. Don't get me started on makars defense but I believe that's cause he's been playing with a bum hip since okposo bump mid season.

bro its been like this all year with Georgiev. He can’t make a save, and people start defending him by pointing out some defensive mistake a skater made. at some point you NEED a save. and he hasn’t been able to give them that this season. at all.

I actually really liked this style of reffing in terms of consistency. It was easy to start to tell what would and wouldnt be called. Stick infractions absolutely. Cross checking essentially no calls at all, except a weird one with a roughing that made it 4on4 for a bit... So while fans didnt like some things, i also felt we got away with some stuff. Lowrys 5-3, post post goal was a great example. We completely bullied the avs off the puck. In the reg season I saw two penalties at least prior to the goal, the puck wound up on lowrys stick all alone, and even he seemed to be surprised he was allowed to continue playing lol Interesting hits were dead even after 2 as well... And i forgot after all that crazyness only 1 goal in the zecond as well... A massive one looking back on a first and third tied at 3 goals each...

Crazy 1st game for Jets and Avs. I imagine that it has to tighten up relative to this, though. Jets are normally fantastic defensively-speaking, but this was a pure run-and-gun game. Play into Colorado's hands like that and the Avs will have the upper hand.

I think the one adjustment the Avs need to make is pulling Georgiev. I've been a staunch defender of his all season, and I still think he gets far more hate than he deserves, but this was a truly brutal performance, on a night where the rest of the team put 6 in against the best goaltender on earth, and one of (if not the) best defense in the league. Lots of positives to take from this, but we might have hit the tipping point with Georgie. If Justus is healthy (he was sick tonight, so he didn't dress) on Tuesday, he needs to be the starter.

I hope the Avs start Annunen next game. I like Georgie but he's in a slump and playoffs aren't the time to try to pull him out of it. He had a save percentage under .700 this game. I realize a couple of those are because of bad turnovers, but you can't win in the NHL much less the playoffs with a save percentage that bad. I loved our offense, the defense has some stuff to work on, but none of that matters if the goal keeping is that bad.

That was a crazy game... definitely didn't expect 6 to get by Helle but the PKs were pretty bad in this game for Jets. At the same time, it was fun to watch, as an 80s kid. I love the high scoring games like this, as long as our boys come out on the winning side. Helle did fine and when I saw Georgiev let in 3 goals in 7 shots, I figured we'd be fine. I'll be in the house on Tuesday and I expect more dominance from Lowry and also the top line. Going to be a fun series to watch.

I can tell you right now. Yes, the jets have the book on George. High gloveside High glove side. 14 goals against against the Jets in the last 2 weeks. This is a game that bones will not be happy about defensively. That is not his system whatsoever. His system was that game. They played last week against Colorado. This , that is how game too is going to be That is how game 2 is going to be. Maybe not 7 goals against for Colorado, but still. I wouldn't be surprised if hellebuck pitched a shutout in the next game. Or 1 or 2 max goals against. Lo bo is ready if 37 gives up 6 again. I'd actually have a short leash for 37. Legit. I find the "defense was so bad" comments interesting. Limiting the Jets to 23 shots for the *whole* game is not a bad defensive game especially when you consider the last 3 minutes we really didn't have a goalie in the net (no.. no really he wasn't even on the ice). While I hate labeling losses on single individuals it's really hard not to in this case.

The avalanche really let Georgie down as they took off the last two weeks of the season mentally, left Georgie hanging allowing him to lose confidence n are having a hard time turning it back on. The AVS team defense as been the worse I've seen the last few weeks from ANY NHL team.

Jets were rattled by the crowd, they were the best defensive team in this season and if they can survive the first two I think they'll be solid going on the road. Aves have a goaltending issue, but their best players were being their best players, which is what you want to see.

Totally agree 👍 jets we're definitely shaken. 😮 in Colorado they played textbook shutdown hockey. I think the Jets get game 2 however. Better structured. But they will drop game 3 and take game 4. Drop 5 here and win in 6.

game wasnt on helle at all, he played so good. jets just need to do a better job at allowing helle to see those long range shots and to keep makar from taking those shots. so many other factors too but im confident that the GA will come down and we will do a better job at defending

I like how the time of the goals make it look like there is a blue stripe down the middle of the board because so many goals were scored.

After the first goal on Georgiev, you could see his confidence was gone. He kept going after the puck and ended up miscommunicating with Manson. Later slamming his stick yet again. Seems like he just counts down the clock till he doesnt have to play, I feel bad for him but not many goalies get the opportunity and he's supposed to be a professional. I have more confidence in Justus and I feel the team in the locker room does as well. Feed that boy some Chicken noodle soup and get him in asap! Proud of the forwards for not giving up.

Sorry, but what the hell are you talking about with the incoming two time veizna winner not playing? He did his job more then ok. 50 shots or whatever, 6 goals against, 3 of their 6 goals came a man up. Team D was awful tonight, clearly... And this was a run and gun game all day long. Annunen was sick, so wasn't even on the bench. He's likely still sick on Tuesday, so they're likely playing Georgiev again. So he gets one more redemption game, and if he plays the same, then he gets pulled, and they see how far they can go on a rookie goalie with good underlying abilities. Also, that MacKinnon shot was sneaky good. He was playing with angles to get Helle to open up the blocker just enough, and sniped it in. That's all-world talent, not a bad goalie move, I can't fault him on that one. Same as the Makar goal, that's just a hat-tip and move on kinda goal

Great game... so many Avs fans are butthurt about their goalies performance (or lack thereof) but letting in that many goals against the Jets is on par with their season against them. It was Hellebuyck who let in more than usual/had a rough night. During the regular season the Jets scored 17 goals in 3 games against the Avs (5.6 goals/game average) while the Avs scored 4 goals in 3 games (1.3 goals/game average). Based on those stats alone it's clear to me that the Jets should be more upset about goaltending issues than the Avs as their goalie performed as expected. Go ✈️ Go!!

This game was fun to watch. I do love Colorado for helping Ray Bourque win a Stanley Cup, but they have won a Cup, so I am cheering for Winnipeg.
