Love their Blacklock City restaurant near Monument. Their ‘All In’ mixed grilled chops menu is such good value and really delicious, and I can’t get enough of their dripping chips with onions and gravy for dipping 🤤 Never had a bad meal there and a really nice vibe. Only complaint would be the lack of dessert options, but I’m usually too full to even contemplate a dessert so I’m not too bothered 🤣🤣

Hi Gary. I watch another channel called Alexander The Guest. He also takes us on gastronomic journeys. He does so in the finest, Michelan Stared establishments all over the world. I taste the food and expierience these places through him. Their tasting menus often cost north of £300 with accompanying wine tasting menus costing the same. I see you as a man of the ordinary people. You take us to places that we can afford and actually imagine eating. I actually get hungry watching your videos which doesn't happen on the other channel. Four of us visited the Soho branch of Blacklock's Chop House last Saturday, thanks to your recommendation, and we were not disappointed. Three of us went with the all in one, whilst my wife had the halloumi. Though the chops, steak and halloumi were really good, two items on the menu stood out for me: the whole sweet potatoes, which were amazing, and the white chocolate cheesecake, which was simply outstanding. I have often had steak and chops which equalled those I had on the night, but I have never had sweet potatoes or cheesecake that good.

Great video Gary - I was salivating from start to finish! We’re going ourselves tomorrow and I have a question- I checked the menu and the meal you had was the All In platter. The menu stipulates a minimum of 2 people, and it also includes some pre chop bites which we didn’t see. Was the food on the platter what each diner gets ?

Now that was a meal to die for Gary! I know if I lived in England at the moment, and had that meal for dinner/lunch/breakfast, I would go out in a blaze of GLUTTONOUS GLORY! It has been ages since I have eaten any lamb. Once upon a time in Australia, I could buy a leg of lamb for 75 Cents (7/6 in the old money) Today, due to inflation a kilo of chops is $38.00 per kilo. Now here is the other thing given that you like curry, I recently bought a couple of chops and cooked them up as a Madras Curry. My soul is still floating at the gates of heaven. Cheers mate!

Have to say I actually felt for London prices that it was pretty decent value for money as the quality was exceptional and the portions sizes weren't too bad either. Hi Tel. Blacklock is easily one of the best restaurants in London and very affordable too. I will be going for their Sunday roast at some point soon and do a review on it but lets be honest, it's probably going to be a 10. Hi Gary, I had a rare visit to London yesterday, and with some time to spare before my train home, I thought I would try the Blacklock Chop House. Inspired by your review, I told the very pleasant and attentive server I had seen your review and would like to repeat what you had. She didn't know so I told her about the meats and the beef dripping chips. I added the Spring Slaw and I had the Chilli Hollandaise instead of the gravy. The service was excellent, and it was such a pity the meal did not meet my expectations. The Belly was tough and not soft with maybe a bit of a crunch on the skin, almost inedible, and I am afraid the pork loin and lamb were not much better, great flavours but very chewy. I also remembered after I had left, no flatbread under the meat Overall very disappointed. Maybe they knew who you were and made a special effort? Anyway Gary keep up the good work and maybe try one of our excellent restaurants in Norwich

The meat looks spot on. My preference would be to ditch the chips in favour of a nice smooth buttery mash with spring cabbage. The gravy would complement it all. Score 9.5/10. Chips in my opinion don't compliment the meat as much as a creamy mash. Don't know if that a choice.
