The jamón bit was hilarious, but, for reference, you’re supposed to “peel” the outer fat layer like you would an orange skin and keep it. Then, once you’re done slicing as much jamón as you can eat, use that same fat to cover the opened ham before you put it back in the sack. This will keep it fresh for longer, and prevent it from drying out. Also, this is general advice in case anybody decides to get one of those jamón cutting devices, using a chainmail glove is always recommended, because those knives are sharp and your non-dominant hand has to go in a vulnerable position to keep hold of the jamón as you slice it. Cheers!

still have a scar in my thum for not being carefull, touched the bond didnt need any stiched because of how clean it was. nevertheless nothing is going to stop me from eating jamon. In spain even the cheap ones are too good to resist jajajajajajjaja (laughts in jamon)
@Y0G0FU

get a Hamon stand with a steeper angle and you dont need to endanger your hand ^^ If the Knife is sharp enough it just glides through and you can pick up the slices once the knife is no longer at risk to cut your other hand :)
@Agamemnon2
@Agamemnon2 3 ай бұрын
I was wondering how to keep the cutting surface from getting too dry since even in a restaurant setting you're unlikely to finish off the whole leg in an evening. There's a company selling these kind of hams in Finland and some of theirs go all the way up to 995€, I'd love to try just a few slices.

Over here on the other side of the world where we’d be paying more for the travel Serrano is kinda considered the cheaper alternative to prosciutto de parma so I could see it appearing quite a bit cheaper than the Iberico (like here in Australia I couldn’t tell you how much Iberico would set you back, but Spanish Serrano is about AU$50-55 a kilo at a supermarket compared to Italian Prosciutto at about $70)

@@taylorgarrett793 Nothing they won't for this episode too. And sometimes it is cooking and such, but sometimes it is just "here's some food, tell us how you like it." Remember though they have a whole business supporting them nowadays, they USED to do everything by themselves or them + cameramen but not by a longshot anymore. They don't come up with the ideas much anymore except Mike, they've ribbed him somewhat recently that he should have an advantage on a surprise challenge since he's part of the team that decides on and plans the episodes. I know Jamie helps on the business side somehow since he mentioned working on spreadsheets while waiting for Pass it On a year or two back. No idea with Barry though since they've joked about him always showing up part way through the day or not until filming. Maybe photography for the site or something he can work on at home? Or maybe just took a pay cut for more free time, which I'd frankly probably do the same.

Even as someone who doesn’t drink, I really like that the way Sorted makes non-youtube-ad money is through offering really great products, tools and experiences. There are so many channels who would, at Sorted’s stage, decide to move off KZbin and put themselves behind a paywall - or would have made the wine tasting webinar exclusive for box buyers. It is very nice to see a channel putting so much thought into the offshoots of their brand.

I would highly recommend trying that one out in one of your videos in the future if you can get your hands on it! I think a great game would be to have them all solve a puzzle to make dishes based off their strengths, but all the clues are hidden behind their weaknesses so they have to rely on the others, like ordering words for a clue on glasses of sour drink in order of sourness that Ben can't taste, write out a clue in the colorblind test dots that Jamie can't read, I know some of the guys can also read languages the others can't so some clues could hide behind language barriers, maybe even add in some math equations that help you number the order of steps in the recipe/course order. I like watching a good team based struggle and it could be like a scavenger hunt or 'locked room' challenge.

This was so cool. I wonder how long you could store a knifed open ham? If we are talking months, I think that's an absolute steal just as a cool ingredient. Any shorter than a month, without a party, I fear it would go bad before I could eat it. Thanks for the video guys!

Justice for mike, even if everyone shares the gifts overall he still deserves more than a board game when everyone else gets something big. This and the redo on dream menu so we can see serious tries instead of jokes.

Can't remember if this been reviewed? The slimline bottles with screw caps by Garçon Wines are made out of 100 percent recycled PET and are 32 centimetres high - a good two centimetres more than conventional wine bottles. This ensures that the bottles still have a volume of 750 millilitres, despite their flat shape.

They did review those bottles a few years ago. not sure whether it's the exact company, though: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fqnPY6GvmNyHipY

A ham holder (or jamonero) in a Spanish household is not as weird as you think! Specially in Christmas time, many houses have their jamón ready to prepare some slices for the fancy meals to come. A jamón leg is expensive, yes, but considering it takes time to cut every piece, you tend to eat less and savour it more! Also, you can use the remaining bone for your stocks!

I work at a lawfirm, and an attorney had received a ham as a holiday gift. He wasn't in the office, so he gave it to his secretary, who had to take a train so she gave it to me. I realized that not only do I take a bus to work, but I also have cats, so bringing the ham home wasn't an option. I gave it to the security guard in the building I work in, and she loved it. Moral of this story, make sure the person you purchase the ham for, really wants it.

As a California native, I was visiting the coast earlier this year to get some cooler weather and I had lunch in a pub with my family in Mendocino. The lady serving us was describing what wine they had and called what they had from California as cheap low quality stuff rather than something good from Italy or France and I just gave her this look of “What?”. I’ve been to Napa valley and my mother would go with my father before he passed to some wineries there to do tastings, along with being back some, so I’m pretty darn familiar and know we’re one of the better exporters of wine in the world. I have no idea how you work in a pub IN California and think California wine is bad and cheap stuff. You can find low quality cheap stuff but what she was describing as such was not.

For the first gift you should also have a box of donuts to hand out as well as having a lot of hand wipes near so that the cards won't get soggy after.

I liked Mike's gift till I saw the other two... I hope he gets a brilliant gift in a future episode . (No, wine tasting kit he also got doesn't count, because that was clearly a plug for the live stream he'll be in anyway.) Still, the card game looks fun. Might put that on my Christmas list. :)

As someone who does not drink alcohol (for personal reasons), that takes two of the gifts out of the running. I'm incredibly danger prone and have DID, so that put the amazing gift Jamie got out too. So I'm left with the Go Nuts for Doughnuts. I love the wine tasting kit you've created, but it's as useful to me as rain on the beach. I'll still support your other ventures though!
