For a series on Dolittle, you Do-a-lot. I came late but this was a great analysis, you pointed out so many things about it that I overlooked when I initially saw it. There is stuff to appreciate with it

Thanks for the series ! In France Doctor Dolittle is almost only known through the movies staring Eddie Murphy. Before watching your videos I ignored it was based on books so I searched for french editions of the book and there are almost none or they are really hard to find. Hopefully they will make a good french version one day. I haven't watched the last film yet but I'll definitely give it look soon. Continue like this !

I just saw that you commented on quite a few of my videos, thanks so much for checking out the channel and for sharing your perspective in France. It's really interesting how relevant some franchises are in certain places, when compared to others.

@@AlexCarson Hi ! yes I almost watched all your channel, keep it up, we can really feel the quality of your work increase from video to video. I guess some cultural production don't find their place in some places, until they finally get to get known one way or another, and thanks to internet for that. In the case of the Dolittle books I have the impression that it can be relevant to the french readers, after all there are no major cultural differences between English and French. It most likely had "its chance" on the few occasion it was translated (I juste checked and was only released in the '30s and 60's here) and therefore didn't have a huge impact in France. I don't know how it works in the US for the publishing industries but in France there is this big moment around September called "rentrée littéraire" (could be translated as "literary start") which is the time every publishers release a big part of their catalogs for the year. Bookstores are full of every kind of books you can think of and it's also the literary awards season. Sadly, lots of good books don't get the attention they need because of this overflow of novelties, and it's even more true for foreign books because there is a selection of which must be translated or not. As they tend to translated books that are already successful abroad lets say that they are overall good books, but as they are competing against a big selection of french books of various quality and are de facto associated to this qualitative range of books. Lets say they don't have the best release condition. So I think the relevancy of a cultural products is not always a guarantee of success, sadly the other factors can act on this, like how the industry works. Maybe now, as we almost have access to anything through internet, it would be time which will tell us which creation will stay or not. I mean, there are plenty of of creations that didn't have the attention they deserved at their release and, in the other hand, some that were extremely popular became almost forgotten. Which makes me think of Avatar, both animated series with the airbender and James Cameron's film, the first one is still gaining popularity today because it has a monumental writting, good stories and characters, whereas the movie with the Nävis was extremely relevant thanks to its technology but its writing, even if it was not bad, didn't make it memorable. And as technology evolves it kind lost its relevancy with the time and it feels a bit weird that it gets all this sequels after all this time. The fact that they rebooted Dr Dolittle makes me think it is maybe a franchise which has things to say and which speaks to people. Sorry for the long reply and the bad English. Sometimes when I start thinking of a subject it's hard to stop. ^^'

@@olivierleborgne5986 No need to apologize for the long reply, that was really appreciative and thanks for taking the time to write it; your English sounded fantastic to me. I believe that we have similar protocol when books release, but some stores definitely miss out on titles or even sell certain titles at higher prices than others (never understood why that was). Anyway, thanks so much for supporting the channel. I'm glad to know that my growth in creative projects has shown since it started and more projects will be coming soon. Hope you have a great week!!

@@AlexCarson Thanks ! I think I write English better than I speak it ^^' We had this problem of variation of books prices before, in the early 90's the culture minister passed a law that made the publishers decide for the books prices, therefore the price for a book is the same everywhere, whether you buy it in a small bookstore, on internet or a big general store. It's seems hard to regulate the culture product, to find the right balance between creation liberty and economic necessity. I can't wait to see what you are working on ! I hope the current situation with the virus didn't disturb too much you cinema studies (damn, your university looks beautiful). Stay safe and have a nice week too !

Fantastic review : ) Did you know that they made an animated series in the early 70's. It was a Saturday Morning cartoon based on the 1967 movie, believe it was on NBC.
